  • This study examined in what category that the knowledge dimension and the cognitive processes dimension are described based on 'A revision o Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives' in oral health education textbooks. Oral health education and practice from Educational Objectives of Dental Hygiene Department(Korea dental hygienist Prof Council, 2009) were selected to analyze a textbook, the body contents was analyzed in the knowledge dimension, and the activity was analyzed in cognitive processes dimension. Three experts were selected as a corder for reliable analysis. As a result of this study, the knowledge dimension in oral health education textbook was focused on the categories of factual knowledge and conceptual knowledge in textbook analysis based on 'A revision of Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives', and the category dimension of 'understand' showed to be the most for the cognitive processes dimension. Moreover, there was no 'meta cognitive knowledge' that conforms to a higher-order thinking and the category dimensions of 'analyze', 'evaluate', and 'create' took very low proportion or did not exist. Conclusion, Oral health education textbooks were analyzed to fragmentary and Memorizing the level knowledge. Thus we have to develop oral health education textbooks reflected a variety of cognitive and knowledge dimension.

  • This study aims at analyzing educational effects of the horticultural picture books, which are depending on B.S. Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives. After collecting various horticulture-related picture books, this study classified them by the B.S bloom's educational taxonomy. There were objectives of the cognitive domain, objectives of the affective domain, psychomotor domain in plants and gardening activities. And the cognitive domain, affective domain, psychomotor domain subdivided into the sub-region can learn from the horticulture picture books to teach the unique characteristics could be found. To know the teachers' perceptions of the effectiveness of using picture books in the horticulture class, questionnaire were analyzed from the survey. As a result, by Bloom's educational taxonomy area they preferred children's books. Teacher think that fairy tale books promote the interest of the children and have the advantage of fostering creativity. In addition, an easy point to get in school, lack of hours in the effective education to help horticulture that was expected. The cognitions of most effective storytelling method of horticulture picture book was story immersion. And the effective activity after reading picture book was drawing picture. • This study analyzed and compared the curriculum of 12 arbitrarily selected Colleges of Engineering for their professional general education. Since the Korean Accreditation of Engineering Education has existed for the last 10 years a growing need for improvements was identified and thus this study shall provide a basis for future curriculum developments of the professional general education. For this purpose the educational objectives, the syllabus, the self-assessment reports and catalogues of the 12 Colleges were reviewed and the relevance between the educational objectives of each engineering school and the learning outcomes in the professional general education were analyzed. Furthermore, by analyzing the area of subject that each College of Engineering's mechanical engineering program's professional general education focuses on, the current trend can be examined. Finally, the credit requirements and their allocation and the distribution of the professional general education over the semesters were analyzed. The results of this study were as followed; these capabilities such as creativity, professionalism, globalization, ethics, humanism, design ability, management ability, responsibility and communication are suggested as educational objectives of 12 engineering schools. But courses related to globalization, ethics & responsibility and communication skills were much more often taught. Not only do the allocated credits for the courses of professional general education differ from university to university but the distribution over the semesters vary as well.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out taxonomic characteristics of objectives infered from questions of summative evaluation by analyzing those objectives with Bloom's revised taxonomy of educational objectives. 1,711 questions of midterm and final examinations collected from 25 middle schools were analyzed to classify objective of each question. The major findings of the study were as follows: first, from the analysis of objectives in the knowledge dimension, the assessment of factual knowledge was most prevailing(67.6%) in the biology summative evaluation. In the cognitive process dimension, memory assessment was most dominant(76.1%). Thus, the main objectives of evaluation leaned toward particular classes in the Bloom's revised taxonomy, which was different from the findings of earlier studies on the weights of evaluation areas. Second, the level of the objectives should be determined in consideration of the grade of middle schoolers, as their cognitive level improves with grade. In fact, however, there was no difference among three grades in characteristics of objective taxonomy.

  • This study analyzed the learning objectives in the 2007 revised 10th grade Home Economics textbooks of 6 different publishing companies and the achievement standards developed by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology(2009). Two experienced coders performed initial analysis based on the 'revision of Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives' and had subsequent conferences to reach an agreement on different results between coders. For knowledge dimension, the results show that the major types of learning objectives in the "Future Family Life" unit are mainly consisted of factual knowledge and procedural knowledge, where as those of "Family Life Culture" unit are consisted of factual knowledge and conceptual knowledge. The achievement standards in both "Future Family Life" and "Family Life Culture" units are solely in a factual knowledge major type. The sub-type of knowledge dimension of both learning objectives and achievement standards fall into 'a specific facts and knowledge component'. For cognitive process dimension, the results show that the leaning objectives are focused on 'understand' and 'analyze'. Those of achievement standards are 'analyse' in the "Future Family Life" unit and 'understand' in the "Family Life Culture" units. From the result of this study, we can conclude that both learning objectives and achievement standards do not adapt any meta-cognitive knowledge, higher order thinking, and cognitive process.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the academic achievements, satisfaction and educational demands of nursing students at a college of nursing. Methods: The study subjects consisted of 134 senior nursing students who completed their clinical practicums. The students were asked to complete the evaluation survey for the curriculum. The evaluation survey for the curriculum consisted of three parts: 1) academic achievements of educational objectives, care of subjects, and skills; 2) satisfaction with the curriculum, clinical practice environment, and educational environment; 3) demands on the curriculum and clinical practicum. Results: The mean scores on the achievement levels of educational objectives, care of subjects and skills of the students were $3.68{\pm}0.53$, $3.69{\pm}0.59$, and $3.77{\pm}0.56$, respectively. The low rated domains were 'understanding and delivering culturally competent nursing' and 'competence in fundamental nursing skills' in their levels of achievements. Overall, students were satisfied with the nursing curriculum and educational environment. However, their satisfaction scores for the hours and arrangements of the clinical practicum, and the ratios and arrangements of lectures and clinical practicum were relatively low. Conclusion: The findings of this study are important to redesign nursing curriculum in order to prepare graduates for rapidly changing health care environments. We need to try various strategies to improve the clinical competencies of students by designing a curriculum based on social change and student needs.

  • This paper analyzed four large scale studies on the impact of school libraries on students' learning. It identifies how students benefit from their school libraries and how the libraries contribute to the educational goals of the schools. The four studies were the 'National Power' project study, the Scotland study, the Ohio study, and the Delaware study. These studies developed frameworks for evaluating the impact of school libraries on learning, which give insights on how educational objectives and experiences are related with each other and what indicators are available to measure their impact on learning. Basing on Bloom's Taxonomy of educational objectives and Kuhlthau's model of information search process, the educational objectives of the frameworks included cognitive, affective, and psychomotor/physical domain, plus interpersonal domain. The four studies used such research methods as case studies, observations, interviews, focus group discussions, log data analyses in order to identify various learning experiences and impacts.
