  • Knowledge can be more meaningful when it is shaped and personalized through interaction with others. Implementation of open learning environments such as open courseware or shared knowledge communities has gradually become more common. A case study which investigated instructors' experiences and perceptions of publishing and using open courseware in the classroom was conducted at a university in Korea. Responses from participating students and an evaluation group regarding how they perceived open learning environments were also examined. Based on the inductive analysis of the data, this study discusses advantages and challenges of publishing open courseware and collaborative learning environments. Also, practical guidelines for developing reusable learning materials are suggested.

  • The function and the role of school are changing according to various future-oriented education models such as open-ended learning cycle, community learning center, re-schooling, network system and de-schooling, which reflect recent social demands related to discussions on sustainability, low birth rate and ageing. what changes to our school buildings have been there? This study is aimed that shows the architectural change of school buildings and environments in 2000's. It reveals the architectural tendancy through some school buildings, 'the excellent facility school award' winner which Ministry of Education, Science and Technology have chosen annually since 1998. In the past decade, it is outstanding change that mass composition, window patterns and exterior wall materials are diversified greatly. The most of them have a opened main hall and multi-purpose spaces which give effective educational environment to students. Although visual changes are outstanding, we still need qualitative educational space program and improved school building design according to future-educational demands.

  • The current education is becoming more extensive with the application of various teaching methods. This is a problem that is so distributed that it is difficult for users to find the data and it takes a long time to find the information they need. Currently, various educational services, materials, and instruments are developed and scattered. Therefore, it is important to raise students' awareness of aptitude and career path with customized education tailored to students. Conventional education platforms have very difficult to choose the right materials for students because of the spread of educational programs and institution materials. To solve this, we propose a customized recommendation approach to recommend customized educational service materials and institution for students to teachers, which helps teachers conveniently choose materials suitable for their respective environments. On this new platform, the CNN algorithm provides recommended content for classes and students. For real service on the educational service platform, we implement this system for Jeil edus business. Through this mechanism, we expect to improve the quality of education by helping to select the right service.

These endeavors need to be based on an analysis of industrial policies, both national and international, and of the industrial trend of the region in which the particular college is located. They also need to take into consideration change in educational policies and the direction of the college's specialization. This study aims to provide some foundation materials for these endeavors. As a result, it has considered changes in industrial and educational surroundings and analyzed the whole spectrum of departments existing at Korean junior colleges, with a focus on business-related ones. In the course it has taken a look at the division system, presently a hot issue regarding the restructuring of the colleges. To summarize, each college offers departments, having taken into consideration its regional, industrial, and educational environments. • This study evaluated two educational spaces, one middle school and one high school in point of universal design. The survey method with an observation and measuring method was used. The subject were 238 students of a middle and a high school. They evaluated their schools according to 53 universal design related items which consisted of 5 principles. Findings were as follows ; 1) The width of passage between desk and desk was very narrow and there is the threshold at the door of classroom. The students evaluated them negatively, too. Also, they indicated that the size of individual locker was small and the corner of furniture was sharp. 2) The width of door and passage was narrow and the floor was not flat in restroom. The design quality such as color and finishes was not good. Also, the students evaluated all these items negatively. 3) The dining space was too big. That is, so many students takes meals in one big space. The dining tables were arranged in a long rows and the width between them was also so narrow to pass through. 4) The student of high school evaluated their educational environments more negatively than ones of middle high school. This means that the high school students were more dissatisfied with their school environment. The educational environment should be designed on the base of their students' needs.

  • Over the last few years, rural areas in northeastern Mexico have present significant changes in social, economic, and territorial aspects linked to the New Rurality. In this context, winemaking has become one of the most dynamic and growing activities in the regional economy. This emerging development has prompted different forms of appropriation and use of this space, but it also highlights the lack of access to knowledge for wine production due to the lack of formal educational centers. As a result, learning communities enable the development of skills and competencies through non-formal educational practices. The objective of this paper is to analyze the role of learning communities in non-formal educational environments, taking as a case study: a collective of small-scale wine producers in Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila. This research focuses on two perspectives of learning: appropriation and technology transfer, and promotion of Mexican wine culture. The main finding was to demonstrate the importance of including educational processes that respond to the context and needs of the community.

  • In this paper, we designed an open class teaching model in level-based team arrangements. In this way, teaching lesson plans were newly developed in order to teach students in open classroom environments. Both teachers and students required enough time to be acquainted with the new approach. However, empirical data analyses of mid-term and final examinations as well as survey data mathematical achievements indicated that most of the students have shown interests in mathematical activities and confidences on their mathematical abilities. Furthermore, there were few students who seemed to be isolated from mathematical activities. In particular, most students didn't seem to get lower grades than expected from other teachers who hesitated to apply the new model.

  • In this research, the change of Korean middle-school science education environments is investigated through analyzing eighth graders' survey data collected over the past 20 years of TIMSS. We extracted educational context variables that provide meaningful information on changes of Korean science education, and have been surveyed more than 3 study cycles up to TIMSS 2015. The selected educational context variables include school resources and school climate from the school principal's questionnaires, and teacher characteristics and instructional activities from the teacher's questionnaires. For each context variable, we analyzed its trend over TIMSS cycles, and discussed its implications in light of Korean educational policy and curriculum changes. Based on the results, we recommended several ways that help to improve science teaching and learning in light of lab assistants, computer availability, teacher learning community, and middle school Earth science curriculum.
