This paper assesses the evidence of the built environments' impact on patients' and staff's well-being. It also introduces evidence-based design (EBD) and discusses barriers and solutions for promoting EBD. EBD is an informed approach to design by improving design decisions based on best available knowledge. Designers should provide psychologically and physically supportive environments to promote occupants' well-being. There is increasing evidence that a poorly designed environment elicits negative feelings and stress. Better design will lead to better outcomes especially when it applied to a vulnerable population such as patients, children, and the elderly. Due to high demands of promoting patients' health, healthcare providers and professional designers have been searching for evidence to create healing environments. EBD has been well received in healthcare facilities design and is expanding to other types of environmental design such as educational and commercial design. Design firms should consider EBD as a value-added component of design to meet current and future challenges. It is important for designers to realize that engaging in EBD is not a rejection of creativity, but a means by which to scrutinize their design projects. With critical literature reviews on healing environments, there is sufficient evidence that well-designed environments can promote patients' and medical staff's health outcomes.

The purpose of this paper is to review the importance of situated cognition and the features of MOO(Multi-user Object Oriented)environments for effective foreign language learning. Learning foreign languages is beyond simply recalling for the vocabularies or expression usages of targeted languages. As much the same as children naturally acquire their mother languages among active and social interactions with other surrounding people, foreign languages should be told in the circumstances and contexts for authentic applications of foreign languages. The MOO, one of the virtual realities with spatial metaphors on the text basis, has been gaining high attentions from educational fields, thanks to the strong functions of social contexts and learner interactions. This paper approaches the features of MOO as foreign language learning environments, in terms of activity, context and interaction.

In this paper, the prototyping process for developing syllable-initial consonant-based game 'Korean Guards' is described. Users may effectively learn Korean words using alphabetically sequential approaches, but the easiness of access bestowed on the smart environments and game algorithms could be fully utilized for the functional advantages for educational purposes. This functional game is developed on Android OS and the prototypical outcome is shown.

In this paper, we give descriptions that the choices made in the Knowledge modelling or representation in Computer Evironments can modify the meaning of this knowledge through a process similar to that of the didactical transpostion. Thus, they are likely to have effects on learning. These problems and phenomena are consequences of general constraints of computer and an algorithms built-in computers. Students may not learn the knowledge intended by teacher. Teacher is always on the alert for the changable mathematical knowledge in computer-based environments. It is an important role of teachers in new teaching and learning environment.

Rapid progresses on computer and Internet technology fortell the changes in learning environments in our classrooms, which requires a timely preparation for the near future. The aims of this article were to examine the basic law, contents and concept of educational program for healthy family and provide the jobs and competency of healthy family supporter for educational work. The research objects were 53 healthy family supporters for educational work inclusive of full-time and part-time position. They was analyzed through the survey. The process of research consisted of two parts. One was to suggest their jobs and requirements, the other were to offer their core competency and area for improvement. First, the jobs of healthy family supporters for educational work were the planning and valuation of program. The requirements for the performance of their duties are having a bachelor's degree or a master's degree, career for 1-3years, and a certificate of qualification of healthy family supporters, social worker and family counselor. Second, their competencies were the understanding of education for family life, management for healthy family support center, planning and valuation of educational program, a theory of counsel, community networking, ability of documentation, sociality, communication skill, the ability of solving the problem, the adaptation of various environments, receptiveness, positiveness and so on.

Recently junior colleges in Korea have been working to meet changes in industrial and educational surroundings by establishing new departments, integrating and abolishing existing ones, or adjusting departmental quotas. These endeavors need to be based on analysis of industrial policies, both national and international, and of the industrial trend of the region in which the particular college is located. They also need to take into consideration change in educational policies and the direction of the college's specialization. This study aims to provide some foundation materials for these endeavors. As a result, it has considered changes in industrial and educational surroundings and analyzed the whole spectrum of departments existing at Korean junior colleges, with a focus on business-related ones. To summarize, each college offers departments, having taken into consideration its regional, industrial, and educational environments. The result of this study may be utilized by colleges when they establish new departments, integrate and abolish existing ones, and adjust departmental quotas.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the issues of today's school furniture systems and propose the new standards for tomorrow's school furniture design. For the improvement of the educational environments, the school furniture need to be reformed very badly. The present educational furniture is very falling behind in safety, function, ergonomics and its aesthetics. The classroom tables and chairs should be comfortable in physical and psychological aspects and accommodates the practical use in order to raise the student's efficiency of learning. In this study, the new design and ergonomic standards of the chairs and tables are proposed by comparing other national standards and analyzing the problems of the present educational facilities.

The aim of this study is to provide the background of developing guides to clinical performance and basic clinical skills and to introduce how to teach and learn using the guide. The students' performance problems presented in an objective clinical skills examination were disease-centered tertiary hospital clinical care, incomplete performance, doing by rote, and an exam-oriented learning attitude. The problems were caused by a tertiary hospital-based educational environment as well as schools and faculty who are unfamiliar with the concept of patient-centered care. The purpose of the guide to clinical performance and basic clinical skills is to overcome these problems and address the causes. The guides show a clinical presentation approach to primary care; clinical care integrated with knowledge, skills, and attitude; a schematic approach; and a patient-centered attitude. To achieve these goals, a strategy to change the educational culture is important. Curricular reform, faculty development, and improving educational facilities and environments are suggested.

Sustainability became the keyword of our society worldwide, and it is undoubtful that buildings are mainly responsible for green house gas emission and energy consumption. Among different project types, educational facility was selected in this study to find out what needs to be addressed in order to provide students better learning environments. Scorecards from 32 LEED certified school projects went through analysis and essential components as design strategies in sustainable educational facilities were extracted based on application rate of each credit in LEED for School(2009). The extracted data were further analyzed in comparison with related components in G-SEED. The results would be used as guidelines for those of who design sustainable education facilities and prepare green building certifications. and it would further foster architect's responsibility towards green society in Korea.
