Current environmental education at elementary school is demanded to be changed into 'Sustainable Development', Therefore, we should find a new program to reflect appropriateness and diversity of environmental education at elementary school for 'Sustainable Development'. The result of analysing textbooks and the realities in environmental education at elementary school is as follows, First, when we analysed the contents of the textbook in environmental education, the reflecting rate was high in 'natural environment' and 'sound consumption', compared with in 'artificial environment', 'resource and energy' and 'health and environment'. Second, we realized the necessity for 'environmental education' complementary to 'Sustainable Development'. That is because the analysis showed the lack for the activity for approaching and solving environmental problems with 'artificial environment', 'resource and energy' and 'health and environment'. Third, the analysis also showed the deficiency in the reflection of 'environmental education' contents for maintaining healthful environment through improving the quality of life. Current textbook didn't deal with very important elements of 'environmental education' - the Quality of indoor atmosphere, harmful matter, safe things to eat, noise, stench, etc. For those reasons, it is necessary to reconstruct the realm and the contents of 'environmental education' for 'Sustainable Development' appropriate to elementary school. We require a new curriculum and textbook to cover diverse' environmental education' as well.

Rapid growth of the higher education role in ensuring the socio-economic and innovative development of the national economy in the context of the development of the information society and the knowledge economy is observed. Achieving positive synergistic effects of the higher education development requires proper funding for university education and research. The existing funding models for national higher education systems in a number of developing countries need modernization in accordance with the modern challenges of economic and innovative development. The purpose of the article is to formulate theoretical - methodological and applied foundations for the development and implementation of the integrated model of the higher education financing under the Quadruple Helix concept. At the center of the developed model are the areas of interaction identified by the authors, namely: Personnel, Science, Management, Innovation, Social area. This made it possible to specify the interests of all stakeholders and orient the activities of higher education institutions to the satisfaction of these interests. Effective implementation of the integrated Model of the higher education financing requires increasing the level of investment attractiveness and practical value of university research; activation of innovative development of enterprises; state stimulation of business participation in university research and education; harmonization of current legislation with EU standards. Implementation of the Model will diversify sources of funding for universities, increase their level of economic security and achieve integrated synergies from the interaction of universities, business, government and the public (as the main stakeholders within the Quadruple Helix concept).

This paper attempted to describe the relationships among agricultural extension, rural adult education and community development, which has developed as a disciplinary major (ag. extension in 1971, rural adult education in 1990 and community development in 1997) at the College of Agriculture and Life Science, Seoul National University. Reviewing the related literatures and observing the practical rural development in the Republic of Korea, conclusion was made in such a way that agricultural extension - rural adult education - community development be natural series of disciplinary development process as well as practical development in industrializing and urbanizing country like the Republic of Korea.

The purpose of this study was to develop a data base system for the information on science education research and development. As a part of this study, a data base program was developed on the Macintosh SE using the 4th Dimension from ACI. The data base consisted of two files, dissertation and journal. The information on the 107 theses including the master's theses and the doctoral dissertations from the Department of Scince Education, Seoul National University and on the 640 papers on science education from the first issues to the 1991 issues of five selected science education journals was input into the data base. The selected five Journals were Journal of the Korean Association for Research in Science Education(published by the Korean Association for Research in Science Education, 148 papers), Teaching Physics(published by Korean Physical Society, 164 papers),Chemical Education(published by The Korean Chemical Society, 98 papers), The Korean Journal of Biological Education(published by The Korean Society of Biological Education, 148 papers), and Journal of Science Education(published by Science Education Center, College of Education, Seoul National University,82 papers).

The purpose of this study is to analyze current state of education departments in Korean universities and to find out ways to help education major students shape their future career. The findings of the study are as follows. First, the comparative analysis of the current state of education and education-related departments showed that average employment rate of education departments in 2011 was 35.0%, whereas that of related departments was 56.6%, which showed a significant difference. Second, education courses were specialized in areas such as lifelong educator qualifications, teaching certificates in morality/ethics, corporate HRD(human resource development), etc. in case of education departments. In case of education-related departments, education courses were specialized in areas such as teaching certificates in pedagogy, lifelong educator qualifications, license of school counselor, corporate HRD, etc. Though there were many overlapping areas, specialization was relatively more common and diverse in education-related departments. Next, to help students shape their future career, developments in specialized career courses, new career fields, and career education models were suggested. To give shape to the progress plans, the development of standard education courses for student careers, the introduction of certification system about course specialization, and search for the career path of teaching profession which allows utilization of the knowledge of education were suggested.

The purpose of this study is to develop a data base system for the infromation on research and development of science education. As a part of this development, an analysis of master's theses and doctoral dissertations from the Department of Science Education, Seoul National University was done, and using authors' classification system for the research and development materials of science education, those theses were classified. From the analysis and classification, the following conclusion was drawn: 1) The Department of Science Education, Seoul National University had produced 468 masters of education for about 30 years. Among them, only 107 theses were on the science education and the other 361 theses on the pure science. This means that department has not taken root as a department of science education. If it does not carry out its own purpose of establishment, it will not be able to justify its existence any longer 2) As compared to the increased number of students applying for the doctoral program, the number of faculty is very few in the field of science education. Without more supplement of the faculty member majored science education, there will be increased conflict and disorder among faculty and students. 3) The proportion of the theses on science education to those on science vanes greatly by the major of the department. This is the mirror of the faculty attitude to and recognition of science education and the faculty composition. 4) The classification of master theses and doctoral dissertations on science education showed that most of them focused on the secondary school science education and were survey studies. But recently it is noticeable that the theme of the study became diversified and has kept in step with the international research trends.
This research, with the recent change in the paradigm of education, has its purpose on suggesting the direction of Japanese education that best suits the environment in Korea, by analyzing the education and information policy in Korea and Japan. As it is shown in Mackey's model, policy in language and education cannot be separated, and the 'smart education' policy as well as 'Education and Information Vision' that is implemented in Korea and Japan is likely to be connected with policies in language in the near future. Both of these policies has its goals on the spreading of information in education, and is predicted to lead to development in contents in regard to education of foreign language. When looking at recently developed smart-learning programs, it can be found that the credibility and authenticity is weak because in most of those programs, there was no participation of experts in Japanese education. Thus there is a need for expertise in Japanese education for development of these contents and also many attempts with application of 'smart-learning' collaboration of technology and academic knowledge in humanities and education is needed. At the same time, various support from the government is essential so that these policies can simultaneously work together, along with the field of foreign language education.
This study examines the influence of early English education on children's bilingual language development to see whether the early exposure to English education affects children's competencies of both English and Korean. Based on this purpose, it attempts to examine whether it supports additive or subtractive bilingualism. The competencies of both English and Korean of the children with early English education were, therefore, compared with those of the children without it, and the relation between the two competencies was also studied. For this research, two different groups of children - one with 48 children who attend English kindergarten and the other with 60 children who attend only Korean kindergarten - took PPVT-R in Korean and in English each. The result shows that children with early English education have more English competency than those without it. No significant differences, however, are found in Korean competency between the two groups. The relation between the two competencies proves positive in children with early English education. It can thus be concluded that the effect of early English education is partially positive on children's language development, which may support the additive bilingualism that children's second language can improve without losing their native language competency. In addition, this result will be able to provide for us the direction and the guideline to the policy of foreign language education and early education.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relational components of parent education curriculum for college students and home economics curriculum for middle and high school students in Korea. The continuity and hierarchy of the parent education curriculum for college students and the 'human development and family' domain of home economics curriculum for middle and high school students were examined. The major findings were as follows. First, the components of 'human development and family' domain of middle school home economics curriculum in 2015 revision were considerably related with the components of parent education curriculum for college students. Second, the components of 'human development and family' domain of high school home economics curriculum in 2015 revision were considerably related with the components of parent education curriculum for college students. Third, the components of 'human development and family' domain in middle and high school home economics curriculum in 2015 revision and parent education curriculum for college students showed a hierarchical pattern in range and depth of contents. On the basis of these findings, the effectiveness of teaching parent education in middle and high school curriculum was discussed.

Due to the influence of the fourth industrial revolution in recent years, maker education is getting attention. Therefore, this study tried to propose the possibility of application (app) development education as maker education by empirically verifying the affective and cognitive effects of app development education using authoring tool. To do this, we implemented app development education in D high school in Seoul, Korea, and collected data from 41 participants. We analyzed the changes in attitudes toward SW education and creative problem-solving ability before and after the education by conducting the paired t-test, and the level of satisfaction and perceived achievement through descriptive statistics analysis. Also, the learner's responses collected through the open-ended questionnaire were analyzed qualitatively. The result showed that the attitude toward SW education and creative problem-solving ability showed statistically significant improvement after app development education using the authoring tool, and the learner's statement also supported this result. Also, satisfaction and perceived achievement after the education were relatively high. Through these results, we have empirically confirmed the effect of app development education using the authoring tool for high school students, and derived the theoretical and practical implications.
