Improvement of Building Region Correspondence between SLI and Vector Map Based on Region Splitting (영역분할에 의한 SLI와 벡터 지도 간의 건물영역 일치도 향상)

  • After the spatial discrepancy between SLI(Street-Level Imagery) and vector map is removed by their conflation, the corresponding building regions can be found based on SLI parameters. The building region correspondence, however, is not perfect even after the conflation. This paper aims to improve the correspondence of building regions by region splitting of an SLI. Regions are initialized by the seed lines, projection of building objects onto SLI scene. First, sky images are generated by filtering, segmentation, and sky region detection. Candidates for split lines are detected by edge detector, and then images are splitted into building regions by optimal split lines based on color difference and sky existence. The experiments demonstrated that the proposed region splitting method had improved the accuracy of building region correspondence from 83.3% to 89.7%. The result can be utilized effectively for enhancement of SLI services.

  • Use spctrophotometer to estimate thin film uniformity of lens, Compare, and analyze thin film uniformity availability selecting two peaks of Reflectance(R%) measuring on spectrum. Wavelength dependence's Reflectance in position of center, middle and edge of lens etc... obtain thin film's thickness (t) from Wavelength region (${\lambda}_1,{\lambda}_2$) of two peaks of Reflectance. $$t=\frac{1}{2(n^2-\sin^2{\theta})^{1/2}}{\times}\frac{{\lambda}_1{\lambda}_2}{{\lambda}_2-{\lambda}_1}$$ If Reflectance pattern is uniformity value in position of center middle of lens, edge etc... thin film has uniformity. Applied thin film uniformity estimation method to 1st layer $MgF_2$(n=1.38) coating lens. It was about thin film's thickness difference 360nm. Can analyze coating lens' thin film uniformity easily from Reflectance relationship measurement about Wavelength dependence.

  • In vector quantization (VQ), mean squared error (MSE) is widely used as a distance measure between vectors. But the distance between averages appears as a dominant quantity in MSE. In the case of image vectors, the coincidence of edge pattern is also important considering human visual system (HVS). Therefore, this paper presents a new distance measure using the variance of difference (VD) as a criterion for the coincidence of edge pattern. By using this in the VQ encoding, we can reduce the degradation of edge region in the reconstructed image. And applying this to the codebook design, we can obtain the final codebook that has a lot of various edge codevectors instead of redundant shade ones.

Skew Correction of Document Images using Edge (에지를 이용한 문서영상의 기울기 보정)

  • This paper proposes an algorithm detecting the skew of the degraded as well as the clear document images using edge and correcting it. The proposed algorithm detects edges in a character region selected by image complexity and generates projection histograms by projecting them to various directions. And then it detects the document skew by estimating the edge concentrations in the histograms and corrects the skewed document image. For the fast skew detection, the proposed algorithm uses downsampling and 3 step coarse-to-fine searching. In the skew detection of the clear and the degraded images, the maximum and the average detection errors in the proposed algorithm are about 50% of one in a conventional similar algorithm and the processing time is reduced to about 25%. In the non-uniform luminance images acquired by a mobile device, the conventional algorithm can't detect skews since it can't get valid binary images, while the proposed algorithm detect them with the average detection error of 0.1o or under.

  • In order to reduce the download around the Smart UAV(SUAV) at Transition mode, flow control using synthetic jet has been performed. Many of the complex tilt rotor flow features are captured including the leading and trailing edge separation, and the large region of separated flow beneath the wing. Based on the results of part 1 of the present work, synthetic jet is located at 0.01c, $0.95c_{flap}$ and it is operated with the non-dimensional frequency of 0.5, 5 to control the leading edge and trailing edge separation. Consequently, download is substantially reduced compared to with no control case at transition mode using leading edge jet only. The present results show that the overall flight performance and stability of the SUAV can be remarkably improved by applying the active flow control strategy based on synthetic jet.

Color Code Detection and Recognition Using Image Segmentation Based on k-Means Clustering Algorithm (k-평균 클러스터링 알고리즘 기반의 영상 분할을 이용한 칼라코드 검출 및 인식)

  • Severe distortions of colors in the obtained images have made it difficult for color codes to expand their applications. To reduce the effect of color distortions on reading colors, it will be more desirable to statistically process as many pixels in the individual color region as possible, than relying on some regularly sampled pixels. This process may require segmentation, which usually requires edge detection. However, edges in color codes can be disconnected due tovarious distortions such as zipper effect and reflection, to name a few, making segmentation incomplete. Edge linking is also a difficult process. In this paper, a more efficient approach to reducing the effect of color distortions on reading colors, one that excludes precise edge detection for segmentation, was obtained by employing the k-means clustering algorithm. And, in detecting color codes, the properties of both six safe colors and grays were utilized. Experiments were conducted on 144, 4M-pixel, outdoor images. The proposed method resulted in a color-code detection rate of 100% fur the test images, and an average color-reading accuracy of over 99% for the detected codes, while the highest accuracy that could be achieved with an approach employing Canny edge detection was 91.28%.

  • Recently, the seriousness of ultrafine dust and fine dust has emerged as a national disaster, but small and medium-sized cities in provincial areas lack fine dust monitoring stations compared to their area, making it difficult to manage fine dust. Although the computing resources for collecting and processing fine dust data are not large, it is necessary to utilize cloud and private and public data to share data. In this paper, we proposed a small edge computing system that can measure fine dust, ultrafine dust and temperature and humidity and process it to provide real-time control of fine dust and service to the public. Collecting fine dust data and using public and private data to service fine dust ratings is efficient to handle with edge computing using raspberry pie because the amount of data is not large and the processing load is not large. For the experiment, the experiment system was constructed using three sensors, raspberry pie and Thinkspeak, and the fine dust measurement was conducted in northern part of kyongbuk region. The results of the experiment confirmed the measured fine dust measurement results over time based on the GIS data of the private sector.

Lane Model Extraction Based on Combination of Color and Edge Information from Car Black-box Images (차량용 블랙박스 영상으로부터 색상과 에지정보의 조합에 기반한 차선모델 추출)

  • This paper presents a procedure to extract lane line models using a set of proposed methods. Firstly, an image warping method based on homography is proposed to transform a target image into an image which is efficient to find lane pixels within a certain region in the image. Secondly, a method to use the combination of the results of edge detection and HSL (Hue, Saturation, and Lightness) transform is proposed to detect lane candidate pixels with reliability. Thirdly, erroneous candidate lane pixels are eliminated using a selection area method. Fourthly, a method to fit lane pixels to quadratic polynomials is proposed. In order to test the validity of the proposed procedure, a set of black-box images captured under varying illumination and noise conditions were used. The experimental results show that the proposed procedure could overcome the problems of color-only and edge-only based methods and extract lane pixels and model the lane line geometry effectively within less than 0.6 seconds per frame under a low-cost computing environment.

Salient Object Extraction from Video Sequences using Contrast Map and Motion Information (대비 지도와 움직임 정보를 이용한 동영상으로부터 중요 객체 추출)

  • This paper proposes a moving object extraction method using the contrast map and salient points. In order to make the contrast map, we generate three-feature maps such as luminance map, color map and directional map and extract salient points from an image. By using these features, we can decide the Attention Window(AW) location easily The purpose of the AW is to remove the useless regions in the image such as background as well as to reduce the amount of image processing. To create the exact location and flexible size of the AW, we use motion feature instead of pre-assumptions or heuristic parameters. After determining of the AW, we find the difference of edge to inner area from the AW. Then, we can extract horizontal candidate region and vortical candidate region. After finding both horizontal and vertical candidates, intersection regions through logical AND operation are further processed by morphological operations. The proposed algorithm has been applied to many video sequences which have static background like surveillance type of video sequences. The moving object was quite well segmented with accurate boundaries.

A STUDY ON THE OCCLUSAL PLANE AND THE VERTICAL DIMENSION IN KOREAN ADULTS WITH NATURAL DENTITION (한국 성인 유치악자의 교합평면 및 수직고경에 관한 연구)

  • Statement of problem. Anatomic landmarks have been used in the orientation of occlusal plane and the determination of vertical dimension for edentulous patients. Such as labial vestibules of anterior region and hamular notches, retromolar pads of posterior region are very useful anatomic landmarks for fabrication of occlusion rim because they are to be identified on master casts. Therefore, if average distances between landmarks of maxillae and mandible in dentate subjects are measured and applied, not only occlusal plane but also vertical dimension can be established initially. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to measure vertical distances between anatomic landmarks and to present a guide to the orientation of occlusal plane and the determination of vertical dimension of edentulous patients. Material and method. Upper and lower border-molded casts were made in 93 Korean dentulous subjects, mean age 25 years. Incisal edges of central incisors, bottoms of labial vestibules, hamular notches and the half level of retromolar pads were marked on casts. Measurements of vertical distances from incisal edge of central incisor to the bottom of labial vestibule, between upper and lower bottoms of labial vestibules, from hamular notch to retromolar pad and from hamular notch to the occlusal plane established by the incisal edge of maxillary central incisor and mesiopalatal cusps of both maxillary first molars were made on each cast. Results and conclusion. 1. The mean distance from the incisal edge of central incisor to the bottom of labial vestibule was 20.8mm(SD 1.7) on upper casts and 17.3mm(SD 1.4) on lower casts. 2. The mean distance between both bottoms of labial vestibules of upper and lower casts was 35.0mm(SD 2.7). 3 The mean distance from hamular notch to the half level of retromolar pad was 5.0mm(SD 1.3). 4. The mean distance from hamular notch to occlusal plane was 7.9mm(SD 1.5). 5. Distances from incisal edge of central incisor to labial vestibule on lower casts(P<0.01) and from hamular notch to retromolar pad(P<0.0001) were greater in male than in female.
