  • The Objects of this paper are developing and also improving a high-speed driving system of bushless DC motor(BLDCM) with economical and practical performance. Because BLDC motors are manufactured that each motor can create proper torque for their individual purpose, it is difficult to increase over the rated speed when a motor speed (with it's rated road) is reaching to a maximum speed so the motor torque cannot be increased. This paper verifies the effects of Leading Angle Algorithm, that is proposed on this paper, with examining existing methods to maximize the torque of a motor in high-speed driving area. The arithmetic processor for this experiment is TMS320C240 DSP controller that is designed for a special purpose of motor control in Texis Instrument Inc., and the used Inverter is PM10CSJ060, a Intelligent Power Module of Mitsubishi Corporation.

  • Currently, geothermal heat pump systems are being installed in new official and commercial building, welfare facilities, and school but there are a few cases for the housing heat sink in Korea. The reason is that there are no progressive taxes for the household electrical use, no actual output for the application of geothermal technology, high initial investment. For the overall use in multi family apartment such as the Green Home etc, technology development and building of the relevant research team need to be done through preliminary study. Core subjects for overall use include cooling heating load estimation for the multi family apartment, economical efficiency of the geothermal cooling and heating system, design and construction technology of the geothermal cooling and heating system for the multi family apartment, commercialization plan, and state of the art analysis. Selection of the detailed subjects with respect to core subject, driving schedule and commercialization plan, driving system, presentation of the utilization plan.

  • OLED in the spotlight of display market has advantages of low power driving, self-emission and fast response. But it has disadvantages of inefficient luminescence and high power consumption. Most of PM(passive Matrix) DC-DC converters in common use is using voltage divider. This voltage divider type has some difficulties of suitable electric device selection for voltage division and of the stabilized output due to feedback current trimming. Therefore, noise analysis and power solution in OLED are important technologies having an effect on electric characteristics. In this dissertation, we have obtained the stable output by using digital signals in multi-channel DC-DC converter, the profit of power consumption reduction of driving source and economical efficiency in the PCB board size.

  • Recently, the global automobile market is rapidly changing from internal combustion engine vehicles to eco-friendly vehicles including electric vehicles. Among eco-friendly vehicles, LPG vehicles are low in fine dust and are suggested as a realistic way to replace diesel vehicles. In addition, it is more economical than gasoline in its class, showing a cost-saving effect. In Korea, the business of converting gasoline into LPG is active. Research is being conducted to apply this to hybrid vehicles. In this study, the difference in energy consumption efficiency was analyzed when LPG fuel was applied by selecting a 2-liter GDI hybrid electric vehicle. The operation of the hybrid system according to various driving characteristics was confirmed by selecting the WLTC mode. As a result, it was confirmed that the BSFC was about 5% lower than that of gasoline fuel when using LPG fuel. This is due to the active operation of the motor while driving. Optimization is required as battery consumption increases from an energy perspective.

  • This paper presents a program for protecting vehicles against side winds on highways. The present study consists of three processes. The first one involves giving a guideline for evaluating driving safety in high winds. The second one involves making a guideline for determining the necessity of wind protection system for a certain road area. A reasonable procedure is suggested based on the probability model of wind data on weather stations and the correction of local topographical conditions. The third one involves design of wind barriers. Both CFD analyses and wind tunnel tests were performed to find the proper type of wind barrier considering vehicle controllability, structural safety, economical efficiency as well as driver's visibility. Performance of the designed wind fences was verified from field tests. The performance of the four different types of wind barrier installed at the elevated bridge were tested and some of the results were provided.

  • It happens that the fuel is not injected when the driver doesn't push the acceleration pedal of vehicle with engine speed higher than 1,500rpm above the mid range of vehicle speed. This is called "fuel-cut function" and almost every modern vehicle is equipped with this function. This is activated frequently on the downhill area of highway and the quantity of vehicle-exhausted $CO_2$ gas can be zero on this area. With this fuel-cut function on the test highway, $CO_2$ gas from passenger car(2,000cc engine volume) can be reduced up to 4%. The fuel-cut function with CRUISE made in company AVL is simulated to find the most effective driving pattern on the downhill area. By simulating with CRUISE software, it is found that the lower limit of vehicle speed for fuel-cut should be raised to improve the fuel economy on the steeper downhill road. The fuel economy can be most economical when fuel-cut driving and reacceleration are completed on the section of downhill road.

  • This paper deals with the economic feasibility model and analysis of a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle [FCV] against two similar types of non-business vehicles fueled with gasoline [GV] and diesel [DV] considering greenhouse gas [GHG]. Considering the price of vehicles and annual operating cost, we build a classical economic feasibility model. Since the economic feasibility could be affected by many input factors such as the prices of vehicles, the price of fuels, annual driving distance and so on, we estimate the average future values of input factors, which is defined as "the average case". Based on the average case, we assess the representative economic feasibility of a FCV with/without GHG, and by changing various annual driving distances, we assess its economy in terms of net-present value, internal rate of return, and payback period. In addition, we make some sensitivity analysis of its economic feasibility by changing the values of the critical input factors one at time. Based on the average case, it turns out that the consumer of a FCV could save 25,000 won/year for a GV, but the consumer could pay 120,000 won/year more for a DV. This indicates that gasoline vehicles could be replaced gradually by FCVs in Korean market which might be formed by those consumers driving annually more than approximately 14,800 km. As the results of our sensitivity analysis, it turns out that a FCV is no more economical if the difference of the prices between FCV and GV is more than 10,130,000 won or the price of hydrogen fuel could be more than 5,136 won/kg.

  • Though the static pile load tests gives the mosts accurate estimation on the load carrying capacity of tested pile, it appears time-consuming and not economical. Many test methods using equipments, such as Pile Driving Analyzer(PDA), STATNAMIC, and Osterberg cell, have been introduced in Korea, and pile best using PDA has been gaining popularity because of iris fast and simple operation. Static and dynamic tests results on the piles installed in the granular coils were analyzed to investigate the effect of geometrical damping on the estimated load carrying capacity. It was found that the CAPWAP analysis without considering geometrical damping effect underestimates the pile capacity by 30~60% under certain conditions. It was observed that the underestimation of pile capacity by CAPWAP occurs on the piles installed in the water-borne granular boils by SIP methods. When Smith skin damping value(SSkn) greater than 1.0 sec/m is obtained in CAPWAP analysis, it may reflect the large possibility of underestimation of pile capacity. The introduction of the geometircal damping option in CAPWAP analysis gives reasonable pile capacity, compared with the static pile load test results, and reduces the SSb value under 0.7 sec/m.

  • In recent years, there has been a trend towards seeking an integrated solution to social problems (fine dust, carbon emissions, etc.) through technological advancements in the utilization of automotive big data, the diversification of traffic environment improvement policies, and technological innovations. This study compares the differences in bus travel patterns between various types of buses in time and space by using digital odometer data, and draws implications by analyzing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas GHG emissions. As a result of the study, the acceleration dispersion value for diesel buses was higher than for CNG buses. The units of GHG emissions buses on weekdays in the metropolitan area of Gyeonggi-do were about 16% higher than on weekends compared to non-metropolitan areas due to differences in driving patterns. The methodology and results of this study are expected to be utilized in various fields, such as setting standard bus driving modes for autonomous buses, improving the economic efficiency of DRT buses, and in developing patterns to drive buses more economically.
