  • This paper discussed community ecological approach for Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development(ESSD) and Sustainable Society(SS). Community ecology is composed of nature, environment and diverse species and is dynamic and sustainable system by interaction among those components. It is required long-term, integrating and eco-centric stances to achieve ESSD and SS such as eco-city and eco-village movements. This is integrated and complicated perspective beyond traditional dichotomy between human and environment. Community ecological perspective directs people toward ecological society system which creates and maintains adaptable life style under ecological situation in community. Building up eco-parts, eco-cites, eco-villages are crucial movements for promoting human's environmental living standards. These sustainable community movements require people to change their values and life styles suitable for their SS. It is required integrated and balanced perspective and participating endeavor of residents to maintain SS.

  • This study examined four ecological systems, namely individual, family, school, and media environments. A series of moderator analyses were conducted to examine variations in effect size estimates across the study characteristics. The current study estimated that the effect size results were gleaned from 360 primary studies, including 90 journal articles and 270 thesis/dissertations, published between 2011 and 2022. The current meta-analysis results supported the ecological framework. That is, the impact of each ecological system on the development of positive and negative peer relationships varies depending on age groups and protective-risk factors. Specifically, for positive peer relationships, the largest effect size of the protective factor was found at the individual level for young and school- aged children, but at the school level for adolescents. Regarding the risk factors for positive peer relationships, the media was the ecological system with the strongest effect size for both young children and adolescents, while the individual-level demonstrating the strongest effect for school-aged children. Results from this meta-analysis allow us to identify some vital intervention areas in terms of healthy peer-relationship development, which should be of considerable interest to the educators and policymakers who are responsible for assessing and intervening with at-risk young children, school-aged children, and adolescents. From a practical standpoint, the current meta-analysis results are expected to contribute to developing effective prevention initiatives by targeting specific protective and risk factors for peer relationship development on the ecological system level.

  • The purpose of the present study was to compare the long-term management objectives, policy objectives, implementation plans, and detailed plans of four provincial parks established in 2013 using various analysis frameworks. Through this, the study aimed to identify the characteristics of the management plan and extract the implementation plan important to each park by analyzing the priorities in the detailed plan. The long-term management objectives of most parks were to maintain recreational functions by utilizing all the resources of the park, rather than merely preserving the ecosystem. From an ecological perspective, information on major plants and legal protection species are included for most parks, and geological and topographic features considered a major resource. For sustainable forests, it is important to induce the dispersion of concentrated use space. Efficient management systems are distinctively differentiated among the parks. For regional revitalization, the management of programs to link provincial parks and their surrounding areas has become most important. From an ecological perspective, priorities differed for the parks according to their ecological characteristics. For sustainable forests, Moaksan Provincial Park prioritized the visitor reservation system related to the overall park, while the other three parks prioritized alleviating the concentrated use of specific areas. From an efficient management perspective, Daedunsan Provincial Park prioritized aspects related to the cableway. Maisan Provincial Park prioritized inducing the linkage between the use of natural and cultural resources, and Seonunsan Provincial Park prioritized establishing an ecological and cultural commentary operating system. For the base-type leisure activity space, Moaksan Provincial Park prioritized the systematic management and operation of the pilgrimage route, Maisan Provincial Park the connection between the Maisan geography and residents' income, and Seonunsan Provincial Park providing a space for ecological education.

  • The objective of this study was to identify the risk factor and protection factor related to suicide ideation in each life course based on an ecological-system perspective. A questionnaire was carried out for 393 adolescents, 473 adults and 376 aged men living nationwide. The results are as follows. First, the suicide ideation was low with 1.78 points in the full mark of 5 points. Second, the difference in suicide ideation, depression, hopelessness, stress in the organic system variables, family solidarity in the micro system variables, intermediate system variables, residence, the existence/inexistence of counselling center and the influence of mass media in mezo system variables in each life course were significant. Third, the relative influence of organic system variables on the suicide ideation were largest in all life courses. Further, the depression and the influence of mass media in all life courses were a risk factor of suicide ideation and stress was also a risk factor of suicide ideation in the case of adolescents and the aged. When examining protection factors of suicide ideation, family solidarity, minute as it is, works as the protection factor of suicide ideation in the case of adolescents. For the adults, living in a metropolis was a protection factor from suicide ideation. For the aged, family solidarity, family history of suicide and adult children's attention to their friends and neighbors (intermediate system variable) were protection factors from suicide ideation. I suggested that policy, service, counseling and educational program proper to each life course were necessary to lower risk factors of suicide ideation and to improve protection factors.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate a student's career maturity during a career exploration program based on the ecological system perspective and to propose directions for the career maturation process to help H. Meister High School students to get jobs. A single-case 12-session career exploration program was applied to a first-year student at H. Meister High School in U. City for 90 minutes per session twice a week. To verify the effects of the program, this study conducted a pre-test and post-test of career maturity to analyze changes. In addition, the study qualitatively analyzed changes in the program activity sheets and process evaluation sheets per session. The results of the study are as follows: Firstly, the career exploration program based on the ecological system perspective conducted with the student at H. Meister High School improved the student's career maturity. Secondly, changes were observed in the scores in the sub-factors of career maturity between the pre-test and the post-test. Significant differences in the results of the analysis of the sub-factors of career maturity indicate that the program had a statistically positive impact on the career maturation process of the participant. In conclusion, as a result of the in-depth implementation of the program for 12 sessions, the participant expressed his desires which were clarified. In addition, a positive career maturation process appears to have taken place, owing to the self-directed program that led the participant to initiate plans and explore his career by himself. This study was conducted as a single case based on the ecological system perspective concerning career exploration and the career maturation process, but it will be necessary to expand the study to investigate the effects of group counseling, information exchange considering peer influences, common discussions on goal-setting, and other methods on the career maturation process.

  • Lately, besides promoting the biodiversity of the natural ecosystems, there is a demand for climate change mitigation features that will reduce greenhouse gases and prevent disasters that will bring damages such as torrential rains. However, there was not a lot of discussion on the soils that are key in these features. Therefore, this paper proposes a network (Gold Network) as an alternative that will solve the problem that was filed earlier by figuring out how to compose the soil environment. First, in order to maximize the ecological status and value of the soil, a soil network can be proposed through the vertical and horizontal connections of the fragmented soil. Second, there is a need to understand and research the organic system of the ecosystems as well as the complex perspective of the ecosystem services, not only the fragmentary perspectives of the soil remediation, planting improvements or the other existing elements. Third, there is a need to apply the integrated perspective of the Landscape Ecology, Ecological Engineering and Restoration Ecology for the connectivity of the soil (network) due to it being in the execution of the soil network. If a soil network was to be built, a fundamental ecological network would be realized to not only promote biodiversity but also to prepare effective adaptation to climate change.

  • The main purpose of this study is to search a new perspective of environmental education through investigating of alternative education. Environmental education is introduced by needs of society for an effective way of solving environmental problems. But it also has a meaningfulness which is internal need of education for proposing and fostering ecological human corresponds with crisis of modernism. In spite of excessive rhetoric, vision of formal environmental education is very negative. Formal environmental education is restricted to optional course. So, its potential isn't fulfil. Education is both part of the problem and the solution. Education is proclaimed at high level as the key to a more sustainable society and yet it daily plays a part in reproducing an unsustainable society. If environmental education is to fulfil its potential as an agent of environmental problem solution, it becomes both part of the ideal and the practice of education. In this point, alternative education is a model of what environmental education ought to be. Environmental education and alternative education have a common ground in end of education and critical position to the modern education system.

  • Challenges brought by applications of advanced technologies in education call for new approaches that can best ensure the provision of quality e-learning experiences. This paper presents an ecological approach as one of such approaches to quality assurance in e-learning that can monitor, assess and improve the effectiveness and the links between the various elements of e-learning. The ecological model for QA in e-learning emphasizes interrelation transactions between elements (e.g. providers, learners, cultures and policies) and systemic integration of those elements, and stresses that all these elements within a QA system play an equal role in maintaining balance of the whole. The model focuses attention both on individual and societal/cultural environmental factors as cornerstones for QA efforts in e-learning. It addresses the importance of QA efforts directed at changing QA transactions from provider-centered to 'all stakeholder-oriented', from one-size-fits-all model to 'globally oriented, locally adaptive model' and from control framework to 'culture creation framework'.

  • Thesedays, Home Economic in Korea is faced with the danger of a discord caused by the outer pressure of reorganization in the process educational reformation. The first purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of the informatized society and the changes of families lived in the informatized society. The second was to assert to strengthen Home Economics in the informatized society. Ultimately we suggested an integrative and interdisciplinary model about Home Economics from the ecological and informative perspective. This model consist with three parts: Human development(Child studies, Gerontology, & Adolescent studies) and family studies division(Family relation studies, family resource management studies, & Consumer studies) Environmental division(Clothing and Textiles, Food and Nutrition, & Housing) and HEIS(Home Economics Information System). This classification is correspond with the one Human-Behavioral Environment and Human-Constructed Environment of Ecological theory.
