Purpose - Burnouts cause the workers to quit their jobs because with the heavy workloads that the employees get subjected to, they feel that they have little control over what they have to accomplish in the workplace. The purpose of this research is to provide adequate solutions using brief consultation process, reducing negative psychological factors. Research design, Data, and methodology - The current research conducted the 'Qualitative Content Analysis' (QCA), which is one of the most employed analytical tools; it has been used widely all over the globe in various research applications in library science and information. Primarily, this analysis is often used as a method in the quantitative tool until the recent decade. Result - Based on ultimate systematic literature analysis, excessive workloads can get addressed by finding proper solutions to the issues of depression, anxiety, irritability, and discouragement. The solutions are (1) Combating Excessive Workloads using Effective Employee Selection, (2) Employee Effective training, and (3) Job redesigning. Conclusion - Selecting or recruiting employees that have skills for the given job also makes it possible for the organization to run its employees effectively and with minimal cases of workload as an organization understands the capabilities and capacities of workload an employee can complete.
Purpose - The current study analyzes effects of hotel restaurant cook's emotional labor on job satisfaction and customer orientation. Research design and methodology - In order to achieve the current study's goal, sample was extracted targeting cooks working in 5-stars hotels located in Seoul considering spatial and time limitation. Method of research was direct research method with survey. Survey was conducted from April 1st, 2018 to April 20, 2018 (approximately 20 days). Total of 300 surveys were distributed to cooks working in 5-stars hotels located in Seoul, and among those 250 surveys were returned. Among returned 250 surveys, 246 surveys. Results - First, in order to test H1, effect of hotel restaurant cook's emotional labor on job satisfaction (satisfaction on superior and coworker) was analyzed. Second, in order to test H2, effect on hotel restaurant cook's emotional labor on job satisfaction (satisfaction on compensation and promotion) was analyzed. Third, satisfaction on superior and coworker had statistically significantly positive effect on customer orientation, while satisfaction on compensation and promotion did not have statistically significant effect. Conclusions - First, deep acting had statistically significantly positive effect on job satisfaction (satisfaction on superior and coworker), while surface acting did not have statistically significant effect. Second, both deep and surface acting had statistically significantly positive effect on job satisfaction (satisfaction on compensation and promotion). Third, satisfaction on superior and coworker had statistically significantly positive effect on customer orientation, while satisfaction on compensation and promotion did not have statistically significant effect.
Purpose - Recently, the trade war between China and US has been escalating, which has also attracted worldwide attention. Based on this background, this paper sets China and US as an example to explore the determinants of bilateral trade between China and US. Research design, date, and methodology - A quarterly data from the 2000-Q1 to the 2017-Q4 will be used to perform an empirical analysis under some econometric approaches such as the fully modified least squares and the vector error correction estimates. Result - The results illustrate that the two economic entities of China and US have the greatest positive effect on bilateral trade between China and US. The real exchange rate has a positive effect on bilateral trade between China and US. The nominal exchange rate has a negative effect on bilateral trade between China and US in the short run. US's average price has a positive effect on bilateral trade between China and US in the short run. China's average price has a negative effect on bilateral trade between China and US in the short run. Meanwhile, the bilateral trade between China and US also suffers from the economic crisis happened in 2008. Even through the bilateral trade between China and US in the short run is deviate from the long-run equilibrium, there exist an error correction mechanism back to the long-run equilibrium. Conclusion - This paper provides some empirical evidences for both governments. Based on the results of this paper, both governments should take corresponding measures to promote the development of bilateral trade between China and US.
Purpose - The operating mechanism between education input and economic growth is a mysterious proposition that has attracted a vast array of scholars' interests to study on it. Therefore, this paper sets China as an example to analyze the dynamic relationship between education input and economic growth. Research design and methodology - The annual time series from 1990 to 2017 will be employed to conduct an empirical analysis under the vector autoregressive model. The education input is treated as an factor that impacts the economic growth such as labor input and capital input. Meanwhile, the education input will be added to the Cobb-Douglas production function to form a new one so as to explore the dynamic relationship between education input and economic growth. Results - According to the results of empirical analysis, it can be found that the education input has an increasingly positive effect on economic growth. Simultaneously, the economic growth also has a positive effect on education input, but this kind of effect is not steady. Of course, the labor input and the capital input also can promote the economic growth to some degree. Conclusions - The education input is one of most important inputs for a country. Based on the empirical analysis, this paper suggests that the China's government should put more emphasis on the education input so to make its economy develop well.
Purpose - This article aims to explore the mechanism in which environmental regulations have positive effects on corporate competitiveness through technological innovation. This study also attempts to examine the relationship between environmental regulation and corporate competitiveness from a technological innovation perspective and explore a desirable relationship between those two. Research design, data, and methodology - Discourse analysis and SWOT analysis is used in terms of methodology, and this study is based on literature review theoretically. The methodology is employed in various ways to describe a variety of environmental issues. Result - The results support that technological innovation is able to play a role in coordinating relationship between environmental regulations and corporate competitiveness. The uncertainty and time lag problems innate to technological innovation function as disturbing factors for individual companies to actively increase R&D investment in response to environmental regulations. Environmental regulations may be considered to be working as a factor consolidating corporate competitiveness through technological innovation to respond to the environmental regulations including climate change issue. Conclusion - This study proposes that to achieve two goals of environmental protection and corporate competitiveness consolidation, policy support from various aspects is implied to be required. This implies that environmental regulations and technical innovation must be harmoniously balanced for future corporate success.
Purpose - This study aims to analyze 7-Eleven's specific competitive advantage strategy according to changes in the Japanese convenience store industry by selecting 7-Eleven, a leading company in the Japanese convenience store industry, as a representative case study. Research design, data, and methodology - Due to the current COVID-19 situation, fact-finding such as interviews with key managers through visiting surveys was not possible, so this case study was carried out based on the literature such as official and unofficial data collected from the companies through e-mail and articles that have been published outside. Result - As a result of the analysis, the researcher found that five competing strategy factors, such as dominant strategy, innovative logistics system strategy, information system development strategy, joint product development strategy, and direct communication strategy have closely maintained the mutual relation to form a combined strategy focusing on the franchise development strategy. Conclusion - The competitive advantage of 7-Eleven is thought to have secured its competitive advantage by combining the five competitive strategies complementarily for rapid response to change, cost advantage, and differentiated advantage. The management implications specified in this study can be considered a reference for establishing a competitive strategy for sustainable growth of the convenience store industry in the fierce competition and saturated market environment of Korean convenience stores.
Purpose: The present study investigates if the type of organizational culture influences the level of job-related stress. This study is significant because creating the need to explore the concept to become more informed on the best practices to promote and foster a positive culture that prioritizes workers, it could result in a healthier workforce, improved organizational performance, and success. Research design, data and methodology: Examining previous studies by other researchers was the primary research tool for this study. The organized approach of gathering data and assessing related work was vital in developing a fundamental basis for advancing knowledge on this concept while enhancing theory development and drawing more informed conclusion. Results: These four types, including the clan, adhocracy, hierarchical, and market cultures, contribute significantly in revealing four associations between the two variables, including (i) supportive culture and reduced stress, (ii) high pressure and increased stress, (iii)autonomous culture and variable stress levels, and (iv) open culture and low-stress levels. Conclusions: The literature affirms a multifaceted link between employee workplace stress and organizational culture type. The findings show that these cultures are crucial in influencing the level of stress among employees. All four types were hypothesized to have a significant relationship with job stress.
Purpose: In the context of fresh food e-commerce, this study investigates the intermediary mechanisms between last-mile logistics service quality (LMLSQ) and customer loyalty. Utilizing the Quality-Value-Loyalty chain as a framework, it focuses on how perceived functional and emotional value mediate this relationship. Research design, data and methodology: Data was gathered through questionnaires from Chinese customers who purchased fresh products from fresh food e-commerce platforms which provide self-delivery services. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to examine the proposed hypotheses after confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) revealed the validity and reliability of the data. Results: The findings reveal that condition quality and personnel contact quality positively influence both functional and emotional value, which, in turn, significantly impact customer loyalty. Timeliness quality, however, does not significantly affect functional or emotional value, indicating its limited impact on customer loyalty. Conclusions: The study confirms that improving condition quality and personnel contact quality significantly boosts customer loyalty by enhancing perceived functional and emotional value. The findings highlight the importance for fresh food e-commerce platforms to offer high-quality, reliable, and emotionally satisfying LMLSQ. The results offer practical insights for e-commerce platforms to focus on specific service quality dimensions to foster customer loyalty and contribute to the theoretical understanding of the quality-value-loyalty framework.
Purpose - This study examines what are the asset market fluctuations in Europe and how each economic variable affects major variables, and explore the dynamics of housing and stock market through Greece. The variables under consideration are balance on current account (BCA), index of stock (STOCK), gross domestic product (GDP), housing price indices (HOUSING), M3, real rate of interest (IR_REAL) and household credits (LOAN). We investigate the functional and causal relationships between housing and stock market. Research design, data, and methodology - Vector error correction model (VECM) is used to figure out the dynamic relationships among variables. This study also contains the augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root, cointegration, Granger causality test, and impulse response function and variance decomposition analysis by EViews 11.0. Results - The statistical tests show that all variables under consideration have one unit root and there is a longterm equilibrium relationship among variables for Greece. GDP, IR_REAL, M3, STOCK and LOAN can be considered as causal factors to affect real estate market, while GDP, LOAN, M3, BCA and HOUSING can bring direct effects to stock market in Greece. Conclusions - It can be judged that the policy that affects the lending policy of financial institutions may be more effective than the indirect variable such as monetary interest rate.
