Objective: Hyperlipidemia is a main risk factor of stroke and cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to investigate characteristics of hyperlipidemia in adult subjects. Methods: Hyperlipidemia-related makers were analyzed using biochemical data from 1,180 (496 male and 684 female) subjects who took medical examination in an Oriental Hospital for the purpose of detecting cerebrovascular accident. Results: 19.7 % of subjects (male 14.7 %, female 23.2 %) had hypercholesterolemia while 21.9 % (male 25.8 %, female 19.0 %) had hypertriglyceridemia. 17.2 % of subjects (male 22.1 %, female 13.6 %) showed low HDL-cholesterol while 13.0% (male 10.3 %, female 14.9 %) showed high LDL-cholesterol. Conclusions: This study will provide helpful information for patients with hyperlipidemia and to develop therapeutics using traditional Korean medicine.
The changes in korean economic environment, from quantitative to qualitative growth of economy, go with making desperate efforts, that is, companies have put through many technical improvements, quality control, improvement of service, and so forth. Enterprises cut the number of employees through labor-management adjustment, so that a shortage of labor caused. An increase in intension of labor brought about growing the proportion of occupational diseases which is musculoskeletal diseases. Because of a rapid change in society and a change in our circumstances, we have many difficulties in examine a business disease closely. In support corroboration of relevance on admission of business, a criterion for dudging afford a basis for a causal relationship of medical science, take the state of working conditions into consideration, and at the same time, give a adaptable decision based on the purpose and point of "The Labor Standard Law" as well as "The Law about Industrial Accident Compensation insurance". In conclusion, it is necessary for the dental hygienists 10 reduce the on-duty hours a day, to make good postures in working, and to remove the stressful conditions in order to reduce the incidence of the lumbago. Good working postures, appropriate rest time, and early detection, care and education of the lumbago could be recommended for the dental hygienists.
The burden of lung cancer in terms of mortality is the highest among all types of cancers globally. The present study aimed to evaluate lifestyle related habits, clinico-pathological profile and treatment details of lung cancer patients who were registered at Malabar Cancer Centre (MCC), Kerala, during the calendar year 2010. A retrospective evaluation was made from medical records to gather data from 281 registered lung cancer cases in 241 males and 40 females, with a male to female ratio of 6.03: 1. Approximately 89% of the cases were above 50 years of age. Among males about 91% of the cases were smokers and 62% of them had a chronic smoking habit. Adenocarcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, non-small cell carcinomas and small cell cancers accounted for 10.7, 13.9, 17.0 and 5.7% respectively. Out of 281 cases around 67% were diagnosed with distant metastasis and the remainder had regional lymph node involvement. However, no statistically significant difference was observed for secondary site of tumor according to gender. As majority of the cases reported at MCC were in an advanced stage of the disease, histology of the secondary site from supraclavicular lymph nodes or liver was taken for diagnosis. Initiation of population based screening for early detection of cancer, and primary and secondary prevention strategies for reducing the prevalence of tobacco consumption are high priorities to reduce the lung cancer burden in Kerala.

While oral melanotic macule is regarded as the most frequent oral pigmented lesion without any harmful symptom, oral melanoma is a very rare and life-threatening disease among oral pigmented lesions. Oral melanotic macule has previously been described as benign, with no malignant potential. However, a few case reports have raised the question of malignant potential of oral melanotic macule. In this case report, we present a case of coexistence of oral melanotic macule and oral melanoma. A 66-year-old man with a chief complaint of black pigmentation on gingiva showed the lesion spread out on the right palatal gingiva, the right maxillary buccal gingiva and the right buccal mucosa, appearing to merge with one another. Biopsies were performed on the right palatal gingiva and the right buccal mucosa. While the lesion on the right palatal gingiva was diagnosed as an oral melanotic macule, the other lesion on the right buccal mucosa was diagnosed as an oral melanoma. The present case implied the possibility of malignant potential of oral melanotic macule. Therefore, oral melanotic macule needs careful periodic observation for early detection and prompt treatment of the transformed oral melanoma.
With the development of medical technologies and the growth of household incomes, most of the people have become to be interested in health as it leads to significant early detection and cure of diseases. However the pattern of disease becomes diverse and it makes the imaging diagnosis department crowded with many patients. Therefore the opportunistic infection could be serious there. The hospital becomes the place which provides high risks of infection danger but it is true that the opportunistic infection of the hospital employees is not still recognized well. The imaging diagnosis department has developed a lot but it becomes the medium of secondary infection of patients and employees. So this study analyzesthe status of bacteria infection of the examination table, the handle of diagnostic equipment and the hands of radiation staffs in imaging diagnosis department of the general hospitals and individual ones. And the result shows that some bacteria were found even though it's little. We are trying to make the hospitals to be free of secondary infection securing safety measure to prevent the secondaryinfection from occurring to patients and hospital employees.

Macroglossia is a relatively uncommon condition that occurs in pediatric patients for several reasons and contributes to variety of functional problems. Most of macroglossia arises from tissue overgrowth and tongue muscle hypertrophy. There are no definite guideline in prenatal management or diagnosis in this conditions. However, macroglossia is often associated with syndrome or congenital disease, prenatal diagnosis is important in early detection. There are difficulty in measurement of tongue size, and standardization. Macroglossia can be risky in some aspects, such as airway obstruction. In this review, the author suggest prenatal ultrasonographic findings of macroglossia, investigate differential diagnosis of conditions associated with macroglossia, and management in clinical situation. Macroglossia, when present, can cause a number of functional and aesthetic problems for individuals. Treatment of this problem is challenging and controversial.

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is an autosomally dominant tumor suppressor syndrome and multisystem disease. Central giant-cell granulomas (CGCGs) can be seen in patients with NF1. A 21-year-old female was diagnosed with two CGCGs, one in the mandible and then one in the maxilla, in a 7-year period. Increased incidence of CGCGs in NF1 patients was thought to be caused by an underlying susceptibility to developing CGCG-like lesions in qualitatively abnormal bone, such as fibrous dysplasia. However, germline and somatic truncating second-hit mutations in the NF1 gene have been detected in NF1 patients with CGCGs, validating that they are NF1-associated lesions. Oral manifestations in patients with NF1 are very common. Knowledge of these manifestations and the genetic link between NF1 and CGCGs will enhance early detection and enable optimal patient care.
Monoclonal antibody (mAb)-based enzyme immune-slide assay (EISA) was used for the detection of Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) virus from field samples collected from a natural outbreak. The clinicopathological study was undertaken to diagnose the case primarily of PPR. Antigen was detected from discharges and faeces of infected goats and swabs of postmortem lesions prepared on glass slide or glass plate using acetone fixation. Nasal discharge collected at the early stage of disease course or lung is an appropriate ante- or postmortem sample for this technique, respectively. Convalescent polyclonal sera collected from recovered animals which were diagnosed as PPR by EISA showed high antibody titer against PPR by C-ELISA, demonstrating the satisfactory specificity of the test. Therefore, EISA is a sensitive and specific assay to confirm PPR infection both in field and laboratory conditions and especially suitable for developing country.
Cancer remains a life-threatening disease and accounts for the major mortality rates worldwide. The practice of using biomarkers for early detection, staging, and customized therapy may increase cancer patients' survival. Deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) are a family of proteases that remove ubiquitin tags from proteins of interest undergoing proteasomal degradation. DUBs play several functional roles other than deubiquitination. One of the important roles of DUBs is regulation of tumor progression. Several reports have suggested that the DUB family members were highly-elevated in various cancer cells and tissues in different stages of cancer. These findings suggest that the DUBs could be used as drug targets in cancer therapeutics. In this review, we recapitulate the role of the DUB family members, including ubiquitin-specific protease, otubain protease, and important candidates from other family members. Our aim was to better understand the connection between DUB expression profiles and cancers to allow researchers to design inhibitors or gene therapies to improve diagnosis and prognosis of cancers.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the trends regarding diet and exercise intervention studies for Korean obese children between 2010 and 2017. Methods: This study was synthesized and reviewed systematically by meta-analysis. In addition, a total of thirty nine studies were investigated. The random effect model was used for meta-analysis. Results: Most studies used single interventions and that their theoretical frameworks still required improvement. In addition, on-line education programs still need to increase their number over that of off-line ones. Regarding the dependent variables for understandings the influences obesity may have on Korean children, most studies took advantage of biological indicators. In terms of the effects of obesity management programs, multiple interventions have gained a competitive edge over single ones for Korean obese children's diet and exercise. In a similar vein, healthy eating habits and adequate physical activities would have more positive effects on Korean children' obesity management programs. Conclusion: Further various studies will be needed for the early detection and prevention of obese children through varied interventions and qualitative improvement of studies.
