The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of environments (farms born, testing groups, age at the tests, date at slaughter, ages at slaughter) on body weights at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months of ages, body type measurements at 18 months of age and carcass characteristics in Hanwoo steer populations that were collected from commercial farms and reared in a progeny testing station. Performances of a total of 1,838 steer calves set for tests from 2004 to 2008 were recorded. Carcass characteristics were the carcass grading results evaluated and data collected slaughter scores at 24 months of age. For growth traits of all age classes and body type traits measured at 18 months of age, farms born, test group and linear covariate of age at test were fit in the models. For carcass traits, date at slaughter and linear covariate of ages at slaughter were fit in the models. Effect of farm at birth was not significant for body weight at 24 months of age. Carcass weight, eye muscle area, yield score and back fat thickness were affected by dates at slaughter but not by the ages at slaughter. Marbling score, however, was affected by these two effects. Farms at birth did not seem to affect body type measures greatly. This study will be utilized for Hanwoo Steers genetic evaluation.
This Study was to explore the experience of foster care child's biological parents and proposed the practical discuss and method for support their returning home. We approached grounded theory to subject. Twenty biological parent's of foster child participated this research. The Data were collected by in depth-interview and documents. The authors analyzed the data according to frame that proposed Strauss and Corbin(1998). The results as follows: In open coding 143 concepts, 34 subcategory, 13 category. In axial coding the causal conditions were 「self-devaluation」, 「self-stigma」, 「social prejudice」. and the phenomenon were 「life as surplus being」, 「revolving around the world」, and the contextual conditions were 「collapse of life base」, 「rustical fatalism」. The intervention conditions were 「operation of support system」, 「instinct of maternity」. The action/interception strategy were 「closing of single eye」, 「pussling of scattered piece」. The consequence were 「fixations of abandonment」. 「resoaring to the world」 The authors proposed the core category as 「go over the wall of world burdening liabilities of being」. The authors classified patricians life type as 「challenging type」, 「status quo type」, 「escaping type」, Finally, we proposed the practical method for support restoring family the world」, foster care child's biological parents.
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to see how wearing either a SCL or a C-SCL effected the dryness of a person's eye depending on how long they wear either type of lens. Methods: This study was carried out on 52 subjects (104 eyes) who were all in their twenties and had previously experienced wearing contact lenses. All of these subjects were required to wear either a SCL or a C-SCL, which were made out of the same material, for three months. Contents such as the McMonnies Questionnaire survey, the blinking rate per min. and the Noninvasive tear break-up time test (NIBUT) were later conducted on the subjects for this study. Results: According to the results of the McMonnies Questionnaire, it was concluded that the longer the subject wore the SCL and C-SCL, the value of the measurements gradually increased. On the other hand, the results from the NIBUT concluded that the longer the subject wore the SCL, the value of the measurements eventually decreased. However, according to the measurements of the blink rate test, it was concluded that neither results had a significant change. Conclusions: It was concluded that long-term wearing of SCL and C-SCL could be the cause of the induction and progression of dry eyes.
In this study, a decision tree type of quality control (QC) method was developed to improve the temporal-spatial representation and accuracy of the visibility data being operated by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The quality of the developed QC method was evaluated through the application to the 3 years (2016.03-2019.02) of 290 stations visibility data. For qualitative and quantitative verification of the developed QC method, visibility and naked-eye data provided by the KMA and QC method of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (NMI) were used. Firstly, if the sum of missing and abnormal data exceeds 10% of the total data, the corresponding point was removed. In the 2nd step, a temporal continuity test was performed under the assumption that the visibility changes continuously in time. In this process, the threshold was dynamically set considering the different temporal variability depending on the visibility. In the 3rd step, the spatial continuity test was performed under the assumption of spatial continuity for visibility. Finally, the 10-minute visibility data was calculated using weighted average method, considering that the accuracy of the visibility meter was inversely proportional to the visibility. As results, about 10% of the data were removed in the first step due to the large temporal-spatial variability of visibility. In addition, because the spatial variability was significant, especially around the fog area, the 3rd step was not applied. Through the quantitative verification results, it suggested that the QC method developed in this study can be used as a QC tool for visibility data.
It is very important that analysis of textures in rock, the moving of hydrothermal solution along the structures, epithermal vein textures, mineralization and composition minerals to confirm the hydrothermal ore deposits and ore genesis. The purpose of this study is to confirm the gold mineralization and ore genesis through the moving of hydrothermal solution along the structure lines and epithermal vein textures by using Color-corescanner techniques. The three drilling hole cores of Sunshin Gold Mine in Haenam area in Jeonnam Province were into a digital image data. Digital image data of gold bearing epithermal vein textures were analyzed detaily by Color-corescanner. There are several epithermal vein textures, namely Comb texture, Cavity texture, Bladed texture, Zonal texture, Brecciated texture and Combined texture. Gold mineralization is dominated in vein type textures, but high grade gold are enbedded in brecciated texture. Ore genesis is epithermal gold deposit. This Color-corescanner techniques can cover the missing part of the examine with the naked eye, and can examine closely the situation of ore deposit development and genesis by detail checking the textures in rock, mineralization and so on.
Background: The most common type of ocular lymphoma is non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), categorized into two groups: indolent (slow growing) and aggressive (rapid growing). Differentiating benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia (RLH) from malignant ocular adnexal lymphoma (OAL) is challenging. Histopathology, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and flow cytometry have been used as diagnostic tools in such cases. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective case series, from 2002 to 2013 at Farabi Eye Center, 110 patients with ocular lymphoproliferative disease were enrolled. Prevalence, anatomical locations, mean age at diagnosis and the final diagnosis of the disease with IHC were assessed. Comparison between previous pathologic diagnoses and results of IHC was made. Immunoglobulin light chains and B-cell and T-cell markers and other immuno-phenotyping markers including CD20, CD3, CD5, CD23, CD10, CYCLIND1 and BCL2 were evaluated to determine the most accurate diagnosis. The lymphomas were categorized based on revised European-American lymphoma (REAL) classification. Results: Mean age ${\pm}$ SD (years) of the patients was $55.6{\pm}19.3$ and 61% were male. Patients with follicular lymphoma, large B-cell lymphoma or chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small cell lymphoma (CLL/SLL) tended to be older. Nine patients with previous diagnoses of low grade B-cell lymphoma were re-evaluated by IHC and the new diagnoses were as follows: extranodal marginal zone lymphoma(EMZL) (n=1), SLL(n=1), mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) (n=3), reactive lymphoid hyperplasia RLH (n=2). Two cases were excluded due to poor blocks. Flow cytometry reports in these seven patients revealed SLL with positive CD5 and CD23, MCLwith positive CD5 and CyclinD1 and negative CD23, EMZL with negative CD5,CD23 and CD10. One RLH patient was negative for Kappa/Lambda and positive for CD3 and CD20 and the other was positive for all of the light chains, CD3 and CD20. Orbit (49.1%), conjunctiva (16.1%) and lacrimal glands (16.1%) were the most common sites of involvement. Conclusions: Accurate pathological classification of lesions is crucial to determine proper therapeutic approaches. This can be achieved through precise histologic and IHC analyses by expert pathologists.
This study examined the effect of emotional sounds on satisfaction of search (SOS). SOS occurs when detection of a target results in a lesser chance of finding subsequent targets when searching for an unknown number of targets. Previous studies have examined factors that may influence the phenomenon, but the effect of emotional sounds is yet to be identified. Therefore, the current study investigated how emotional sound affects magnitude of the SOS effect. In addition, participants' eye movements were recorded to determine the source of SOS errors. The search display included abstract T and L-shaped items on a cloudy background and positive and negative sounds. Results demonstrated that negative sounds produced the largest SOS effect by definition, but this was due to superior accuracy in low-salient single target trials. Response time, which represents efficiency, was consistently faster when negative sounds were provided, in all target conditions. On-target fixation classification revealed scanning error, which occurs because targets are not fixated, as the most prominent type of error. These results imply that the two dimensions of emotion - valence and arousal - interactively affect cognitive performance.
Characterization of quantitative trait loci (QTL) was investigated in the experimental crosses between Berkshire and Yorkshire breed. A total of 525 F$_2$ progenies from 65 matting of F$_1$ Parents were produced. Phenotypic measurements included average daily gain (ADG), average back fat thickness (ABF), and loin eye area (LEA). To identify the presence of QTL for reproductive performance, birth weight (BWT) and body weight at 16 days (16DAY) were included as indirect trait. QTL segregation was deduced using 8 markers assigned to chromosome 2 (SSC2). Quantitative trait locus analyses were performed using interval mapping by regression under line-cross model. Presence of imprinting was tested under the statistical model that separated the expression of paternally and maternally inherited alleles. To set the evidence of QTL presence, significance thresholds were derived by permutation following statistical tests, respectively. Genome scan revealed significant evidence for three quantitative trait loci (QTL) affecting growth and body compositions, of which two were identified to be QTL with imprinting expression mode near the ICF II gene region. For average back fat thickness (ABF), a paternally expressed QTL was found on chromosome 2 (SSC2). A paternally expressed QTL affecting loin eye area (LEA) was found in the region of SSC2 where evidence of imprinted QTL was found for average back fat thickness (ABF). For average daily gain (ADG), QTL expressed with Mendelian mode was found on chromosome 2 (SS2). Also, QTL affecting average daily gain (ADC), was identified to be expressed with Mendelian express mode.
To assess the preference and efficacy of empirical fitting methods with spheric and aspheric RGP lenses. Methods: Healthy 37 subjects were fitted with spheric design (diameter 9.3 mm) on right eye and aspheric design (dia 9.6 mm) on the left eye. Base curves which were fitted empirically (using on-K, Kavg-0.50D (or 1.00D) and manufacturer's recommended fitting guide) were compared with another base curve which obtained the best diagnostic fit with spheric and aspheric RGP lenses. The preference and fitting type (lid attachment or interpalpebral) for two design lenses were investigated 2 weeks after fitting RGP lenses. Results: Of 33 successful RGP lens-wearing subjects, 76% preferred spheric design compared with 24% of aspheric RGP lens wearers. Sixty seven percent were fitted with lid-attachment in spheric lenses, whereas 64% were fitted with lid-attachment in aspheric lenses. The acceptable fit success rates within ${\pm}$0.50D of base curves were 97% for the on-K fit, 100% for the Kavg-0.50D fit and 100% of the manufacturer's guide fit compared with the diagnostic fit in spheric design, whereas 91%, 79% and 94% reported on-K, Kavg-1.00D and manufacturer's guide, respectively, in aspheric design. Conclusions: Although aspheric RGP lenses are more popular in the Korean market, it is still preferable to fit subjects with spheric RGP lenses. Empirical fitting may be best accomplished with the spheric lenses using Kavg-0.50D fit and the manufacturer's fitting guide, whereas aspheric RGP lens designs are unacceptable lens fit based on empirical fitting.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate human thermal comfort by spatial structure and to explore solutions to improve the thermal environment of a small urban space. The study site was Korea University campus. Thermal conditions were measured to evaluate the quality of the thermal environment in each type of space within the study site. Micrometeorology measurements, analysis of space characteristics for using fish-eye lens photography, and thermal comfort modeling through the use of collected meteorological data, such as temperature and humidity, were performed. Results showed that the level of thermal comfort for humans differs depending on the types of space within the study site. Thermal comfort is better in open spaces than enclosed in the aspect of radiative mean temperature, Predicted Mean Vote(PMV), and Physiologically Equivalent Temperature(PET). This fact is probably due to shadows or buildings or trees that may block solar radiation. Thus, it is necessary to consider the spatial arrangements of buildings and trees to enhance openness and ventilation in the space. Paving materials and exterior building materials should also be selected to lower the radiant temperature. Given these results, a quantitative evaluation on human thermal comfort could propose a way to plan user comfortable small urban spaces. Study methods used and results provided in the study can promote a better way for urban space planning direction to improve environmental quality.
