Plasma Outflows along Post-CME Rays

  • Bright rays are often observed after coronal mass ejections (CMEs) erupt. These rays are dynamical structures along which plasmas move outward. We investigated the outflows along the post-CME rays observed by the COR2 on board STEREO Behind on 2013 September 21 and 22. We tracked two CMEs, two ray tips, and seven blobs using the NAVE optical flow technique. As a result, we found that the departure times of blobs and ray tips from the optimally chosen starting height of 0.5 $R{\odot}$ coincided with the occurrence times of the corresponding recurrent small flares within 10 minutes. These small flares took place many hours after the major flares. This result supports a magnetic reconnection origin of the outward flows along the post-CME ray and the importance of magnetic islands for understanding the process of magnetic reconnection. The total energy of magnetic reconnection maintaining the outflows for 40 hr is estimated at 1.4' 1030 erg. Further investigations of plasma outflows along post-CME rays will shed much light on the physical properties of magnetic reconnection occurring in the solar corona.

  • Calcium has a variety of functions in neuron and muscle cells and blood clotting, especially in the visual system where dark adapted rods cotransport with Na$\^$+/ into the cell. An influx of Ca$\^$++/ flows out of the cell through the Na$\^$+/-Ca$\^$++/ exchanger. By using a modified Using chamber in order to bring in vivo environment close, we have known that Ca$\^$++/ blocks the activity of guanylate cyclase, in consequence, having an effect on the amplitude of electroretinogram (ERG). We have measured the Ca$\^$++/, K$\^$+/, and Na$\^$+/ concentration in dark and light adapted bullfrog's (Rana catesbeiana) vitreous humor. The calcium concentration of the light adapted bullfrog's vitreous humor was higher than that of the dark adapted bullfrog's vitreous humor This means that ion activity between the photoreceptor and vitreous humor side is light dependent and we have found that a Ca$\^$++/ channel and Ca$\^$++/K$\^$+/ exchanger exist in the vitreous humor side. Taken together permeability of Ca$\^$++/, K$\^$+/ and K$\^$+/ ion internal limiting membrane faced in the vitreous humor side has light-dependent activity during the illumination.

  • To investigate the connection between radio activity and AGN outflows, we present a study of ionized gas kinematics by using [O III] ${\lambda}5007$ emission line along the radio jet for six radio AGNs. These AGNs are selected based on the radioactivity (L1.4GHz ${\geq}$ 1039.8 erg s-1) as well as optical properties as type 2 AGNs. By using the high spatial resolution of the Red Channel Cross Dispersed Echellette Spectrograph at the Multiple Mirror Telescope, we investigate in detail the [O III] and stellar kinematics. We spatially resolve and probe the central AGN-photoionization sizes, which is important in understanding the structures and evolutions of galaxies. We find that the typical central AGN-photoionization sizes of our targets are in range of 1.8-3.8 kpc. We study the [O III] kinematics along the radio jets to test whether there is a link between gas outflows in the narrow-line region and radio jet emissions. Contrary to our expectation, we find no evidence that the gas outflows are directly connected to radio jet emission.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 발생하는 다양한 기후변화 문제에 따라 복합적인 침수가 많이 발생한다고 판단하여 침수의 복합원인을 찾아내고 그에 따른 값을 모의하게 된다. 침수의 요인으로는 크게 제내지 배수불량에 따른 내수침수와 하천의 수위가 높아져 월류하게 되는 외수범람이 존재한다. 기존의 연구들은 내수침수와 외수범람을 독립적으로 침수해석하여 단순한 선형합의 형태로 내외수 침수를 산정하였으나, 본 연구에서는 2차원 동수역학모형인 HDM-2D 모델을 이용하여 내수침수와 외수범람의 독립적인 모의는 물론 복합적인 모의를 하여 비교, 분석 하고자 한다. HDM-2D모델은 3가지 모형으로 구성된다. 첫째는 2차원 천수방석식과 유한요소법 이산화로 구성된 흐름해석 모형이다. 둘째는 ERG (Exponentially Growth Rate) 기법에 의하여 생성/소멸 기작이 적용된 내수침수 해석 모듈이다. 마지막은 Petrov 안정화 기법에 의한 충격파 전달 해석이 적용되며, Flux-blocking 알고리즘으로 마름/젖음을 안정적 모의할 수 있는 외수범람 해석 모듈이다. 이러한 모델을 통해 내수침수와 외수범람을 독립적, 복합적으로 모의를 진행한다.

Valenz und Informationsstruktur - Zum Problem der Valenzrea lokalen Verben im Deutschen (결합가와 정보구조 -독일어 장소동사의 결합가 실현 문제에 대하여-)

  • In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden einige Aspekte der Interaktion zwischen Valenz und Informationsstruktur am Beispiel der deutschen lokalen Verben behandelt. Lokale Verben stellen ein Problem $f\"{u}r$ die Beschreibung der Valenz (bzw. Argumentstruktur) dar, da ihre $\"Adverbialerg{a}nzungen$ sowohl obligatorisch als auch fakultativ sein $k\"{o}nnen$ und es noch kein handhabbares syntaktisches Kriterium gibt, das fakultative $\"Adverbialerg{a}nzungen$ von freien Angaben klar trennen $k\"{o}nnte$. Die hier sehr stark voneinander abweichenden $Einsch\"{a}tzungen\;f\"{u}hren$ oft zur Entwicklung von immer differenzierteren Valenzmodellen. Dazu $z\"{a}hlt$ ein Mehrebenenmodell, das sich an die sogenannte 'Zwei-Stufen-Semantik' von Bierwisch und Lang orientiert. In diesem Rahmen sind in der letzten Zeit einige Arbeiten entstanden, die sich mit der obengenannten Problematik $besch\"{a}ftigen$. Hier wird die $Fakultativit\"{a}t\;der\;lokalen\;Erg\"{a}nzung$ von Bewegungs- und Positionsverben auf Prinzipien des semantischen und konzeptuellen Systems $zur\"{u}ckgef\"{u}hrt$. Die in diesem Zusammenhang oft angenommenen kognitiven Mechanismen wie 'konzeptuelle Verschiebung', 'Fokussierung' des $Moduspr\"{a}dikats$, 'Defokussierung' der Lokalisierungsrelation, 'Altematenbildung', 'Kontrastiertheit' u. a. sind aber mit den informationstrukturellen Begriffen und Mechanismen kompatibel, und das $Ph\"{a}nomen\;der\;Fakultativit\"{a}t\;der\;Adverbialerg\"{a}nzung$ bzw. der Notwendigkeit der Angabe ist auch unter Perspektive des Zusarnmenspiels von Grarnmatik und Informationsstruktur (Topik-Kommentar­Struktur und Hintergrund-Fokus-Struktur) $erkl\"{a}rbar$.

Relationship between solar flares and halo CMEs using stereoscopic observations

  • To find the relationship between solar flares and halo CMEs using stereoscopic observations, we investigate 182 flare-associated halo CMEs among 306 front-side halo CMEs from 2009 to 2013. We have determined the 3D parameters (radial speed and angular width) of these CMEs by applying StereoCAT to multi-spacecraft data (SOHO and STEREO). For this work, we use flare parameters (peak flux and fluence) taken from GOES X-ray flare list and 2D CME parameters (projected speed, apparent angular width, and kinetic energy) taken from CDAW SOHO LASCO CME catalog. Major results from this study are as follows. First, the relationship between flare peak flux (or fluence) and CME speed is almost same for both 2D and 3D cases. Second, there is a possible correlation between flare fluence and CME width, which is more evident in 3D case than 2D one. Third, the flare fluence is well correlated with CME kinetic energy (CC=0.63). Fourth, there is an upper limit of CME kinetic energy for a given flare fluence (or peak flux). For example, a possible CME kinetic energy ranges from 1030.6 to 1033 erg for a given X1.0 class flare. Our results will be discussed in view of the physical mechanism of solar eruptions.

Effectiveness for Erectile Dysfunction after the Administration of Korean Red Ginseng (발기부전 환자에서 홍삼투여의 효능)

  • A study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of Korean Red Ginseng (ERG) as an oral agent for erectile dysfunction (EF), which was compared to that of placebo and trazodone. Patients who were believed to have EF of mild or non-organic etiologies, randomized into 3 groups to receive 600 mg KRG 3 times daily (group A), placebo (group B) and 25mg trazodone once a day after evening (group C). All agents were given orally. Ninety patients, composed of 30 in each group, were included and analyzed only when clinical follow-up could be achieved at the end of the study for at least 3 months. There were no significant differences(p>0.05) between each group in mean age (43.7 years), duration of EF (5.8 years), the state of marriage (married : 80 patients) and duration of marriage (18.2 years). In group A, the parameters such as rigidity and tumescence on erection, early detumescence, libido and patient's satisfaction were significantly more effective than that of other group (p<0.05). But there were no significant differences in the parameters such as the frequency of coitus, premature ejaculation and morning erection between 3 groups (p>0.05). The efficacy achieved with KGR (60%) was significantly higher (p<0.05) than that of placebo (30%) and trazodone (30%). There were no significant changes on level of serum testosterone and type of AVS-penogram in group A. No side effect was demonstrated in all patients.

Crystal structure and thermal properties of solution crystallized nylon 4,6 (용액 결정성장하의 Nylon 4,6 의 결정구조 및 열적성질)

  • Calorimetric (D.S.C) studies were carried out on the nylon 4,6 single crystals grown from 1,4-butanediol solution at various crystallisation temperatures, based on the assessment of the lamellar thickness by small angle x-ray scattering. Samples were annealed mainly ot get rid of residual solvents inside the crystals. The effect of annealing on the crystal perfection is inferred from the measured thermal properties of the crystals. Accordig to the scanning rates less than 80 K/min., D. S C. melting peaks indicate that changes in the internal morphology of nylon 4,6 crystals preapred at different crystallisation temeratures yield a thermodynamic melting temperature. Tm, of 319 $^{\circ}C$, for the infinitely extended crystal thickness (1/ι). The obtained heat of fusion value for the inginite crystal thickness, Ho, was 270 J/g from the plot of measured feat of fusion ($\Delta$Hm) vs. reciprocal crystal thickness (1/ι). based on these values, the fold surface energy, $\delta$e. of 65.4 erg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ was obtained from Hoffman-Waeeks equation. The thermodynamic melting temperature and heat of fusion of the infinite crystal thickness for the solution grow nylon 4,6 single crystals are found to be higher than of the reported corresponding solution grown nylon 6,6 single crystals. pbtained crystallinity from D. S. C measurements ranges from 40 to 50 %, which is close to the reported yalue for the nylon 6,6 single ctystals but lower than we expected.

Influence of the Application of Plant Growth-Regulating Hormone upon the Resistance to Grain Dropping of Indica-Japonica Species Rice (식물성장조절호르몬의 시용이 Indica-Japonica계 벼의 탈입저항에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to find out the effect of a plant growth regulating hormone, commonly called as 2, 4, 5-TP, for checking the resisting energy against falling of grain of Indica-Japonica species rice, an experiment was conducted with five levels of consistency (5,10, 15, 20, 25 ppm) and with four levels of spray timing (8, 17, 27, 34 DAH). Ten applications were made for measuring the resisting energy of rice heads sampled from every lot of treatments. Followings are the results; 1.The rice heads applied with 2, 4, 5-TP showed remarkably higher resisting energy against falling of grain comparing with those from the control plot. 2.The highest average value of the resisting energy was found as 83, 326 erg per grain on the plots of 8 DAH spray. 3.The general tendency was found that the more the timing of spraying was early, the more the consistency was lean. 4.A regression equation for expressing the peak resistance versus the timing was derived by means of least squares as follow; C=0. 00042D$^3$-0. 012D$^2$+0. 267D+8. 394 5.No significant differences were found among the values of weight per 1, 000 grains neither among moisture content.

Genetic Diversity and Metabolite Analysis of Gastrodia elata by Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) Markers (ISSR 표지에 의한 천마의 유전 다양성분석 및 기능성 물질분석)

  • Gastrodia elata, an achlorophyllous orchid plant, is rare medicinal plant. We investigated the genetic diversity in G. elata from 4 locations by using Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) markers. Shannon's information Index (S.I.) indicating genetic diversity ranged from 0.255 (Pocheon) to 0.322 (Muju) with the mean of 0.29. The level of genetic diversity was lower than other plant and most genetic diversity was allocated among individuals within populations (26.81%). The UPGMA dendrogram based on genetic distance failed in showing decisive geographic relationship. In the case of gastrodin (GA), the major components in G. elata, Sangju was highest. The ergothionine (ERG) was detected a lot of contents in Muju and Pocheon. In conclusion, our results is very important information for explaining relationship of genetic variation and functional substances without the effects of environment factors and developing genetic marker by ISSR in G. elata, which may be responsible for the development of breeds with a lot of functional substance in G. elata.
