  • This paper presents an effective simulation method for the high temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer using PSCAD/ EMTDC. Although researches and developments are performed for the HTS technologies, problems such as AC loss and quench phenomenon need to be solved for efficient design of HTS transformer. In addition, pre-study on the HTS transformer is a sort of time and cost consuming work, thus it is very worthy or being analyzing the characteristics of the HTS transformer in advance through a proper simulation method. It is very important to analyze the HTS devices by the simulation for seeking suitable and reasonable parameters for the practical application of those apparatuses in advance. A software- based component is suggested for- the simulation of the HTS transformer using PSCAD/ EMTDC and the numerical results are analyzed in detail in this paper.

  • 본 논문은 차세대 FACTS(flexible AC Transmission Systems)기술인 UPFC(Unified Power Flow Controller)의 시뮬레이션을 다룬다. UPFC의 해석과 모델을 통하여 전력조류제어를 시뮬레이션 한다. 전력시스템의 과도상태 및 제어에 대한 시간영역 시뮬레이션 프로그램인 EMTDC(Electro-Magnetic Transients in DC systems)를 사용하여 전력조류제어인 유효전력 및 무효전력제어를 수행하고 더불어 모선입력전압의 크기를 제어한다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여 UPFC의 제어성능을 검증한다.

전철 급전계통의 EMTDC 모델개발 (Development of EMTDC Model for Electrified Railroad Supply System)

  • This paper presents the first Simulation model using EMTDC program to analyze the electrified train voltage distribution characteristics in ac auto-transformer 1110 railroads. In general, all of the electrified train supply system has the characteristics that the train supply line is a naturally non-symmetrical and unbalanced system. Also, it is needed to model the Scott transformer which invert the balanced 3-phase quantity into 2-phase. Therefore, the general simulation methodology using previous simplified equivalent circuit or RMS based program can't obtain the accurate results to reflect the real-time operation because these methodology is basically assumed on completely 3-phase balanced system. To overcome these defects, in this paper, the EMTDC simulation model to analysis the completely electrified railroad system with Scott transformer and AC auto-transformer is presented. Also, the correctness of EMTDC modeling is confirmed by the old basic concepts and we think that this EMTDC model has the future powerful capability for application of railroad system analysis.

  • So far, it was very difficult to simulate the dispersed generation system including PV generation system using EMTP or EMTDC because the source of the dispersed generation system has a particular VI characteristic equation. In this paper, a novel simulation method of PV generation system has proposed and a new solar cell component for EMTDC is also developed. The VI characteristic equation of solar cell is used in order to realize the solar generation system in EMTDC simulation. Consequently the simulation of PV power generation system using field data is realized and acceptable results, which show close match between the real data of PV panel and the simulated data, were obtained.

  • The paper addresses modeling and analysis of a grid-connected photovoltaic generation system (PV system). PSCAD/EMTDC, an industry standard simulation tool for studying the transient behavior of electric power system and apparatus, is used to conduct all aspects of model implementation and to carry out extensive simulation study. This paper is aimed at sharing with the PSCAD/EMTDC user community our user-defined model for PV system applications, which is not yet available as a standard model within PSCAD/EMTDC. An equivalent circuit model of a solar cell has been used for modeling solar array. A series of parameters required for array modeling have been estimated from general specification data of a solar module. A PWM voltage source inverter (VSI) and its current control scheme have been implemented. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is employed for drawing the maximum available energy from the PV array. Comprehensive simulation results are presented to examine PV array behaviors and PV system control performance in response to irradiation changes. In addition, dynamic responses of PV array and system to network fault conditions are simulated and analysed.

  • Power line communication channels are very complicated and models for communication channels vary with the types of electrical equipment, devices and load fluctuations. So, modeling and analysis of power line channels for implementation of power line communication systems is a very important process. Power line channel modeling and simulation are performed based on power system transient simulation models and power system CAD tools to create precise and accurate models. In this paper, a channel modeling and simulation method is proposed for power line communication systems using PSCAD/EMTDC, in which a PN 63 sequence code generator is applied for impulse response of the power line channel in the simulation model.

  • This study presents the AC railway system modeled by EMTDC in detail. The ,model made by EMTDC have a lot of advantages. It could be available for the system change, simulated repeatedly and also applied regarding very complicated systems. EMTDC simulations to verify this model are compared with the hand calculations. It is confirmed that the model made by EMTDC is correctly designed.

제주-해남 HVDC 시스템의 EMTDC 모델링 (EMTDC Modeling of Cheju-Haenam HVDC System)

  • 본 논문은 제주-해남 HVDC 시스템의 시율레이션음 다루고 있으며 본 논문의 목적은 HVDC 시스템플 정말하게 모델링 하여 실제의 HVDC 변환소의 레코더에 나타난 파형과 동일한 파형을 만들어 내는 것이며 시스템의 정밀한 모델링을 통하여 INDC 시스템의 제어 게인과 제어기 동작 특성 그리고 HVDC 시스템의 운전 특성을 확인하고자 하는 것이다. 제주-해남 HVDC 시스템은 상위 제어기는 디지털 제어기로 되어 있으나 실제적으로 싸이리스터 밸브를 동작시키는 전략전자 수준의 제어기는 아날로그 제어기로 되어있기 때문에 정밀한 제어 동작을 모델링하기 위해서 아날로그 제어기의 비션형 특성을 고려하였다. 마지막으로, 시뮬레이션은 PSCAD!EMTDC로 구현하였으며 시뮬레이션 결과는 실제의 HVDC 운전 파형과 비교하여 타당성을 검증하였다.
