Time-dependent Material Properties in FCM Segment of Prestressed Concrete Box-Girder Bridge

  • In designing the Prestressed concrete box-girder bridge. dead load, prestressing force, creep and shrinkage of concrete are the main factors which influence the camber and deflection of segmental concrete structure under construction. Among these factors the creep and shrinkage are the functions of the time-dependent property which. therefore, must be considered with time. The prediction model for estimating creep and shrinkage of concrete has been suggested by ACI, CEB/FIP, JSCE and KSCE design code and EMM, AEMM, RCM, IDM and SSM has been suggested for analytical method in consideration of time-dependent characteristics. In this study the creep test was carried out for four different curing ages of concrete which were applied to the Prestressed concrete structure at the construction site, and the results of test were compared with the values of creep prediction proposed by the design code. Also the creep test was performed with step-wise incremental stresses and the results were compared to the analytical values.

  • This paper presents a new theoretical approach to energy-based power system analysis for multibus power transmission systems. On the basis of mechanical analogy, an exact energy integral expression is derived for lossy multi-bus systems through rigorous energy analysis. A simple rigid rod model of mechanical power transfer system is introduced to address the physical meanings of potential energy terms associated with transfer conductances as well as transfer susceptances. Finally, energy-based analysis has been proposed to show that the energy function has all information of the power system characteristics.

  • This paper presents an integrated stability analysis by the direct energy function method based on Equivalent Mechanical Model(EMM) which reflects the system behavior related to both angle and voltage stabilities. Actually, angle and voltage stability are intimately related in power system, so complete decoupling of these stability analysis is not possible in general, particularly in stressed power systems. In this paper, it is shown that a identical energy function can be used for angle and voltage stability analysis. The proposed energy function reflects the line resistances and reactive powers under the constraints of the same R/X ratio. The energy margin between UEP and SEP presents a good collapse proximity index in both types of stability analysis.

  • A wireless ad hoc network is a decentralized wireless network. The network is ad hoc because each node is willing to forward data for other nodes, and so the determination of which nodes forward data is made dynamically based on the network connectivity. In this paper, we proposed new route maintenance algorithm to improve the efficiency and effective in order to reach destination node. In this algorithm we improve existing route maintenance in Dynamic Source Routing protocol, to improve the algorithm we make a new message we call Emergency Message (EMM). The emergency message used by the node moved to provide information of fault detection.

순환골재를 사용한 철근콘크리트 보의 장기 처짐 특성 및 평가 (The Time Dependent Deflection Characteristics and Evaluation of Reinforced Recycled Aggregate Concrete Beams)

  • 본 연구는 지속하중 하에서의 골재 종류에 따른 철근콘크리트보의 장기거동 특성에 대한 연구의 일환으로 천연골재를 사용한 실험체와 순환굵은골재 대체율 100% 실험체, 순환잔골재 대체율 50% 실험체 총 3개로 제작하여 약 1년 동안 지속하중을 가력하였다. 탄성계수와 압축강도의 차이를 고려시 순환골재를 사용한 실험체의 장기처짐이 천연 골재를 사용한 실험체보다 다소 크게 처짐이 발생하였으나 큰 차이를 보이지 않아 순환골재 실험체가 천연골재 실험체와 대등한 장기 휨 성능을 갖는 것으로 판단된다. 장기처짐 예측시 장기처짐 예측식에 적용하는 크리프계수와 건조수축은 CEB-FIP 기준을 적용하는 것이 ACI-209 기준을 적용하는 것보다 좋은 예측을 보였다. ACI-318의 예측 방법은 장기처짐을 과대평가하고 Mayer의 방법, Neville의 방법은 본 연구에서는 실험체의 낮은 인장철근비로 큰 오차를 보였다. Branson의 방법, EMM, AEMM은 장기처짐을 양호하게 예측하였으며 본 연구에서 제안된 방법이 순환골재 콘크리트 보의 장기처짐을 좋은 예측을 보여 순환골재 콘크리트 구조물의 장기거동을 합리적으로 반영할 수 있는 방안이 될 것으로 사료된다.

CFRP와 GFRP로 외부 부착된 철근콘크리트보의 장기 처짐 예측 (A Prediction of the Long-Term Deflection of RC Beams Externally Bonded with CFRP and GFRP)

  • 철근콘크리트 구조물은 일반적으로 재료적 특성에 따른 크리프 및 건조수축으로 인하여 장기변형이 발생하며, 이러한 변형으로 인한 구조물의 처짐을 허용 한계 이하로 유지시키는 것이 사용성 확보 측면에서 중요하다 할 수 있다. 노후된 RC보의 성능 개선을 위하여 다양항 보수 보강 방법이 사용되고 있으며 이중 대표적인 방법으로 FRP 외부부착 공법이 있다. 재료적인 성질이 우수한 FRP는 RC구조물의 보강 재료로써 현재 널리 사용되고 있으며, 일시적인 하중 뿐만 아니라 지속 하중 하에서도 향상된 보강 성능을 제공해야 한다. 따라서 FRP가 외부 부착된 RC 부재에 지속 하중이 작용할 때 콘크리트의 크리프 및 건조수축의 영향으로 인한 시간 의존적 장기 거동을 정확히 예측하는 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 FRP가 외부 부착된 RC보의 장기 처짐 예측을 위해서, CFRP와 GFRP로 보강된 실험체를 제작하고, 25 kN의 지속하중을 470일간 가하여 시간 변화에 따른 처짐을 측정하였다. 또한, 이러한 처짐의 예측을 위하여 ACI-209 code 및 CEB-FIP code에 근거하여 크리프계수와 건조수축변형률을 산정하였으며, EMM과 AEMM을 사용한 ACI-318기준, Branson's method 그리고, Mayer's method를 사용하여 FRP가 외부 부착된 RC보의 장기 처짐을 예측하였다. 실험 결과, CFRP보 보강된 실험체가 가장 높은 장기 사용성을 보였으며, Mayer's method가 장기처짐에 대한 실험값을 가장 근사하게 예측한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

A Study on Physical Properties of Mortar Mixed with Fly-ash as Functions of Mill Types and Milling Times

  • Coal ash, a material generated from coal-fired power plants, can be classified as fly ash and bottom ash. The amount of domestic fly ash generation is almost 6.84 million tons per year, while the amount of bottom ash generation is 1.51 million tons. The fly ash is commonly used as a concrete admixture and a subsidiary raw material in cement fabrication process. And some amount of bottom ash is used as a material for embankment and block. However, the recyclable amount of the ash is limited since it could cause deterioration of physical properties. In Korea, the ashes are simply mixed and used as a replacement material for cement. In this study, an attempt was made to mechanically activate the ash by grinding process in order to increase recycling rates of the fly ash. Activated fly ash was prepared by controlling the mill types and the milling times and characteristics of the mortar containing the activated fly ash was analyzed. When the ash was ground by using a vibratory mill, physical properties of the mortar mixed with such fly ash were higher than the mortar mixed with fly ash ground by a planetary mill.

  • Due to increased consumption of energy in the building environment, the building energy management systems (BEMS) solution has been developed to achieve energy saving and efficiency. However, because of the shortage of building energy management specialists and incompatibility among the energy management systems of different vendors, the BEMS solution can only be applied to limited buildings individually. To solve these problems, we propose a building cluster based remote energy monitoring and management (EMM) system and its functionalities and roles of each sub-system to simultaneously manage the energy problems of several buildings. We also introduce a novel energy demand forecasting algorithm by using past energy consumption data. Extensive performance evaluation study shows that the proposed regression based energy demand forecasting model is well fitted to the actual energy consumption model, and it also outperforms the artificial neural network (ANN) based forecasting model.

Experimental study on long-term behaviour of CFRP strengthened RC beams under sustained load

  • The strengthening and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures with externally bonded carbon fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) laminates has shown excellent performance and, as a result, this technology is rapidly replacing steel plate bonding techniques. This paper addresses this issue, and presents results deals with the influence of external bonded CFRP-reinforcement on the time-dependent behavior of reinforced concrete beams. A total of eight reinforced concrete beams with cracked and un-cracked section, with and without externally bonded CFRP laminates, were investigated for their creep and shrinkage behavior. All the beams considered in this paper were simply supported and subjected to a uniform sustained loading for the period of six months. The main parameters of this study are two types of sustained load and different degrees of strengthening scheme for both cracked and un-cracked sections of beams. Both analytical and experimental work has been carried out on strengthened beams to investigate the cracking and deflection performance. The applied sustained load was 56% and 38% of the ultimate static capacities of the un-strengthened beams for cracked and un-cracked section respectively. The analytical values based on effective modulus method (EMM) are compared to the experimental results and it is found that the analytical values are in general give conservative estimates of the experimental results. It was concluded that the attachment of CFRP composite laminates has a positive influence on the long term performance of strengthened beams.
