Audio Source Separation Based on Residual Reprojection

  • This paper describes an audio source separation that is based on nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) and expectation maximization (EM). For stable and highperformance separation, an effective auxiliary source separation that extracts source residuals and reprojects them onto proper sources is proposed by taking into account an ambiguous region among sources and a source's refinement. Specifically, an additional NMF (model) is designed for the ambiguous region - whose elements are not easily represented by any existing or predefined NMFs of the sources. The residual signal can be extracted by inserting the aforementioned model into the NMF-EM-based audio separation. Then, it is refined by the weighted parameters of the separation and reprojected onto the separated sources. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme (outlined above) is more stable and outperforms existing algorithms by, on average, 4.4 dB in terms of the source distortion ratio.

Characterization of BTO based MIM Capacitors Embedded into Organic Packaging Substrate (유기 패키징 기판에서의 BTO 기반의 임베디드 MIM 커패시터의 특성 분석)

  • In this paper, fully embedded high Dk BTO MIM capacitors have been developed into a multi-layered organic package substrate for low cost RF SOP (System on Package) applications. These embedded MIM capacitors were designed and simulated by using CST 3D EM simulators for finding out optimal geometries and verifying their applicability. The embedded MIM capacitor with a size of $550\;{\times}\;550\;um^2$ has a capacitance of 5.3pF and quality factor of 43 at 1.5 GHz, respectively. The measured performance characteristics were well matched with 3D EM simulated ones. Equivalent circuit parameters of the embedded capacitors were extracted for making a design library.

Bayesian inference of the cumulative logistic principal component regression models

  • We propose a Bayesian approach to cumulative logistic regression model for the ordinal response based on the orthogonal principal components via singular value decomposition considering the multicollinearity among predictors. The advantage of the suggested method is considering dimension reduction and parameter estimation simultaneously. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model we conduct a simulation study with considering a high-dimensional and highly correlated explanatory matrix. Also, we fit the suggested method to a real data concerning sprout- and scab-damaged kernels of wheat and compare it to EM based proportional-odds logistic regression model. Compared to EM based methods, we argue that the proposed model works better for the highly correlated high-dimensional data with providing parameter estimates and provides good predictions.

  • There is a vast field of application for RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) technology. In the case of hospitals, RFID can be used for organizing patient data. Generally, patient data has been handled with medical cards. In order to look up data about a patient, the medical card would have to be found first, within a lot of other medical cards, by hand or with a computer. This is a very inconvenient system. Also, if the card is searched by the name of the patient, fatal medical accidents may occur in cases of mix-ups. If remote RFID Tag monitoring systems are applied in this case, the patient data would be accessible in the hospital. This article will discuss the grafting of RFID systems and wireless data communicating technology. The EM4095 chip, which uses 125KHz carrier waves was used in this study. And a Bluetooth module was added for wireless data communication. The ATMEGA128 microcomputer was used to control the RFID system and wireless module. A LCD monitor was connected to the extension port for nurses to view patient data, and also, the same information was displayed on PC monitors for doctors to see. The circuit was designed to consume minimal amounts of electricity for portability, and to transmit Tag ID's in environments with a lot of noise. The article is concluded with a diagram of the whole system, and performance of each data transmitting section has been analyzed.

A Compact 3-Layer EBG Structure with Square Ring Stripline (사각 링 스트립선로를 결합시킨 소형 3층 EBG 구조)

  • In this paper we propose the compact three-layer EBG structure. The unit cell of the proposed EBG structure is composed of a square patch in the upper layer and a square ring stripline in the lower layer that are connected to the ground plane through conducting vias. Reflection phase analysis method and tangential transmission method were considered to accomplish effective EM simulation and measurement. EM simulation results indicate that bandgap characteristics of the EBG structure using both methods is nearly identical. Parametric studies have been performed with the EM simulator to analyze the properties of the EBG structure by investigating the phase shift of the normally incident plane wave, and the transmission measurements between simple monopole antennas positioned near the EBGstructure have been done. The operating fiefuency bandgap of the proposed EBG structure is about 34 $\%$ lower than the conventional EBG structure with the same size. Measured results show bandgap from 0.930 GHz to 0.945 GHz.

  • 본 논문에서는 단일 DGS의 전송특성을 ABCD 파라미터로 모델링하여 연속한 N개의 DGS 분석 및 설계를 용이 하게 하였다. 모델링된 식의 검증을 위해 연속된 N개의 주기적 DGS에서 전송특성을 이론, 회로 시뮬레이션, EM 시뮬레이션을 비교하였다. 또한 응용 예로서, 능동안테나의 불요 고조파가 방사하는 것을 저지하기 위한 DGS를 설계 및 시뮬레이션하여 제시된 방법론의 타당성을 검증하였다.

Hand and Preference Evaluation of Laminated Waterproof Breathable Fabric (라미네이팅 투습방수 직물의 태와 선호도 평가)

  • This study evaluates the objective and subjective hand as well as the preference for hand and outdoor jackets on laminated waterproof breathable fabrics with different constituent characteristics to identify those best suited for consumer needs. Mechanical properties and objective hands were measured by the KES-FB system. The subjective hand and the preference of laminated waterproof breathable fabric for outdoor jackets were rated by the 20's and 30's women experts with tactile and visual senses that utilized a questionnaire with a seven-point semantic differential scale; subsequently, the flexibility and compressive elasticity of laminated waterproof breathable fabrics were low. However, light and thin waterproof breathable fabrics with a smooth surface had high scores in smoothness, fullness & softness and total hand value. In addition, laminated waterproof breathable fabrics were classified into three hand factors: flexibility, density, and surface properties. There were significant differences on flexibility and surface property perceptions, hand and out-door jackets preferences according to the characteristics of waterproof breathable fabrics. The hand preference of the laminated waterproof breathable fabric improved with decreasing 2HB and increasing EM. However, EM showed positive effect for outdoor jacket preferences. Those that were flexible and smooth were preferred for outdoor jackets.

  • Recurrent event data occurs when a subject experience the event of interest several times and has been found in biomedical studies, sociology and engineering. Several diverse approaches have been applied to analyze the recurrent events (Cook and Lawless, 2007). In this study, we analyzed the YTOP(Young Traffic Offenders Program) dataset which consists of 192 drivers with conviction dates by speeding violation and traffic rule violation. We consider a subject-specific effect, frailty, to reflect the individual's driving behavior and extend to time-varying frailty effect. Another feature of this study is about the redefinition of risk set. During the study, subject may be under suspension and this period is regarded as non-risk period. Thus the risk variables are reformatted according to suspension and termination time.

  • 최근 들어 전력 계통은 점차 복잡해지고 계통의 규모 역시 빠른 속도로 성장하고 있다. 한국전력거래소는 전력계통의 안정적, 경제적 운영을 담당하고 있는 기관으로 '01년 현재의 에너지관리시스템(EMS)를 도입하여 실시간 전력계통에 대한 정확한 판단을 기반으로 전력계통의 안정성과 경제성 확보에 주력하고 있다. EMS의 대표적인 기능은 계통데이터의 수집(SCADA), 자동발전제어(AGC), 계통해석(NA) 등으로 대별되며, 이중 계통해석 기능은 프로그램 규모면에서 가장 큰 부분을 차지하고 있다. 계통해석 기능은 또다시 상태추정(SE), 상정사고분석(CA), 안전도해석(SENH), 고장해석(SCT) 등의 프로그램으로 구성되어 다양한 실시간 계통해석을 수행하게 된다. 전력계통 해석은 먼저 대상계통을 수학적 모델로 정식화하기 전에 계통망의 기하학적 구조를 기술하는 단계가 필요한데 이를 토폴로지 처리라고 하며, 보통 그래프이론인 노트(Node)와 마디(Branch)를 사용하여 전력계통망을 구성하는 요소들의 연결관계를 정의하게 된다. 본고는 이론적 수준을 넘어 EMS의 계통해석 기능에서 실계통을 해석하기 위해 쓰이고 있는 토폴로지 처리의 기본 알고리즘을 분석하여 국내 전력산업 기술 선진화에 기여하고자 한다.

Electromagnetic Wave Absorption Behavior of a Fe-based Nanocrystalline Alloy mixed with a Ferrite Powder (Fe계 나노결정립 분말과 페라이트 복합체의 전자파 흡수특성)

  • The electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption properties of the $Fe_{73}Si_{16}B_7Nb_3Cu_1$ nanocrystalline powder mixed with 5 to 20 vol% of Ni-Zn ferrites has been investigated in a frequency range from 100MHz to 10GHz. Amorphous ribbons prepared by a planar flow casting process were pulverized and milled after annealing at 425 for 1 hour. The powder was mixed with a ferrite powder at various volume ratios to tape-cast into a 1.0mm thick sheet. Results showed that the EM wave absorption sheet with Ni-Zn ferrite powder reduced complex permittivity due to low dielectric constant of ferrite compared with nanocrystalline powder, while that with 5 vol% of ferrite showed relatively higher imaginary part of permeability. The sheet mixed with 5 vol% ferrite powder showed the best electromagnetic wave absorption properties at high frequency ranges, which resulted from the increased imaginary part of permeability due to reduced eddy current.
