  • EEG(electroencephalogram) is attempted to determination of human emotion. Ten university students were participated in this study. Ten auditory stimuli were presented for a subject to evoke emotion. Data homogeneity according to brain local area and basic mechanism of relative variation for combinational delta, theta, alpha and beta waves were analyzed. As the result, the local area characterized by factor analysis and the relative variation of alpha-delta wave can be considered as the determinants of human emotion.

  • Objectives : Cognitive psychological models propose that auditory hallucinations arise from a problem with monitoring one's auditory verbal imagery. Most auditory hallucinations are derogatory in content and accompany negative emotions. If auditory verbal imagery plays an critical role in the pathogenesis of auditory hallucination, it must be influenced by negative emotions. This study was aimed at understanding the influence of negative emotions on the development of hallucinations by investigating the way by which negative emotions have influence on cortical activity induced by auditory verbal imagery. Methods : For both normal subjects and patients with schizophrenia, quantitative electroencephalography(Q-EEG) was applied during the auditory verbal imagery tasks using a two word list. The one word list accompanied negative emotion and the other accompanied neutral emotions. The difference of EEG activity between two tasks was compared by paired t-test. We also compare the difference of the influence of negative emotions between normal subjects and patients with schizophrenia Results : In normal subjects, amplitude of beta wave was increased in temporal area such as TCP1, and, the amplitude of theta frequency wave was decreased in right hemisphere such as FP2, F4, C4, CP2, P4. But, in the schizophrenia group, there were no significant differences. Conclusion : These results may suggest that auditory verbal imagery with negative emotion requires more activation in left temporal area, but, appropriate activation may not achieved in schizophrenia patients. So, the possibility that the resultant disturbance of verbal self monitoring may be related to auditory hallucination is suggested in this study.

  • The purpose of this study is to know the change of brain wave with stress by SUKI pressure alternative therapy. The experiment group was 12 students(male 6/female 6) with complained upper trapezius pain. Calculated the brain wave before and after stimulate the upper trapezius trigger point by SUKI and the stimulate time was 3min each persons(FP2, F3, F4, FP1, T3, T4, P3, P4). the experimet periods was 5times in a weeks with EEG(QEEG-S). The Date collecting used by Telescan(LXE5209). All the data was analyzed with SPSS 22.0 for window program. To compare the differences before and after the point pressure method, a corresponding sample of t-test was performed, and the statistical significance level was p<.05. The results was followed. The points of Fp2, F3, F4(*p<0.049, *p<0.042, *p<0.019) of EEG was showed a significant differences but Fp1, T3, T4, P3, P4 points did not showed. The SUKI alternative medicine techniques had a reduced effects for the some kind of brain stress. It is need to continuous research in the future.

  • Objective : The aim of this study was to examine the effects of electroacupuncture(EA) at the PC6 (Naegwan) on nomal humans using power spectrum analysis. Methods : Electroencephalogram(EEG) is a multi-scaled signal consisting of several components of time series with different dominant frequency ranges and different origins. EEG power spectrum exibit site-specific and state-related differences in specific frequency bands. In this study, power spectrum was used as a measure of complexity. 30 channel EEG study was carried out in 8 subjects (8 males; age=$21.4{\pm}0.5$ years). Results : We found that the power values of the alpha wave at F7 channel (P<0.05) were highered than during the acupuncture treatment, and the power values of the delta wave at TCP1, CP1, TCP2, T5 channels(P<0.05) were lowered than during the acupuncture treatment. However, the comparison with that before and after the treatment shows no significant differences in all channels.

  • Spatiotemporal changes of brain rhythmic activity at a certain frequency have been usually monitored in real time using scalp potential maps of multi-channel electroencephalography(EEG) or magnetic field maps of magnetoencephalography(MEG). In the present study, we investigate if it is possible to implement a real-time brain activity monitoring system which can monitor spatiotemporal changes of cortical rhythmic activity on a subject's cortical surface, neither on a sensor plane nor on a standard brain model, with a high temporal resolution. In the suggested system, a frequency domain inverse operator is preliminarily constructed, considering the individual subject's anatomical information, noise level, and sensor configurations. Spectral current power at each cortical vertex is then calculated for the Fourier transforms of successive sections of continuous data, when a single frequency or particular frequency band is given. An offline study which perfectly simulated the suggested system demonstrates that cortical rhythmic source changes can be monitored at the cortical level with a maximal delay time of about 200 ms, when 18 channel EEG data are analyzed under Pentium4 3.4GHz environment. Two sets of artifact-free, eye closed, resting EEG data acquired from a dementia patient and a normal male subject were used to show the feasibility of the suggested system. Factors influencing the computational delay are investigated and possible applications of the system are discussed as well.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study applied computerized cognitive therapy and proprioception exercise to stroke patients and analyzed improvement in their changes in Electrocephalogram(EEG). METHODS: The subjects were 30 patients who were diagnosed with stroke and they were randomly selected to a proprioceptive training group(n=15), a cognitive training group(n=15). The experiment was performed for three times per week for 6 weeks and EEG was measured before and after the experiment. RESULT: Before and after the experiment in each group of experiments, the ${\alpha}$-and ${\beta}$-wave study showed significant changes but, there was no significant difference in the change between groups before and after the experiment. CONCLUSION: From the above results, the cognitive training and the proprioception training have a positive impact in stroke patients EEG changes, but it is difficult to suggest a better therapeutic interventions. However, as compared with that the cognitive training that directly involved in the cognitive and brain activation, the proprioception training have changes on brain activation. Therefore, of Clinical therapeutic interventions, the proprioception training can be presented effectively to the changes in brain activation in stroke patients.
