  • In this paper, reducing lense Vignetting effect and adaptive learning rate method are proposed to complement Scribner's neural network for nuc algorithm which is the effective algorithm in statistic SBNUC algorithm. Proposed reducing vignetting effect method is updated weight and bias each differently using different cost function. Proposed adaptive learning rate for updating weight and bias is using sobel edge detection method, which has good result for boundary condition of image. The ordinary statistic SBNUC algorithm has problem to compensate lense vignetting effect, because statistic algorithm is updated weight and bias by using gradient descent method, so it should not be effective for global weight problem same like, lense vignetting effect. We employ the proposed methods to Scribner's neural network method(NNM) and Torres's reducing ghosting correction for neural network nuc algorithm(improved NNM), and apply it to real-infrared detector image stream. The result of proposed algorithm shows that it has 10dB higher PSNR and 1.5 times faster convergence speed then the improved NNM Algorithm.

  • In this paper, the implementation of a new AF(Automatic Focusing) system for a digital still camera is introduced. The proposed system operates in real-time while adjusting focus after the measurement of distance to an object using a passive sensor, which is different from a typical method. In audition, measurement errors were minimized by using the data acquired empirically, and the optimal measuring time was obtained using EV(Exposure Value) which is calculated from CCD luminance signal. Moreover, this system adopted an auxiliary light source for focusing in absolute dark conditions, which is very hard for CCD image Processing. Since this is an open-loop system adjusting focus immediately after the distance measurement, it guarantees real-time operation. The performance of this new AF system was verified by comparing the focusing value curve obtained from AF experiment with the one from the measurement by MF(Manual-Focusing). In both case, edge detector was used for various objects and backgrounds.

  • In this paper, a corner detection method based on a new non-cornerness measure is presented. Rather than evaluating local gradients or surface curvatures, as done in previous approaches, a non-cornerness function is developed that can identify stable corners by testing an image region against a set of desirable corner criteria. The non-cornerness function is comprised of two steps: 1) eliminate any pixel located in a flat region and 2) remove any pixel that is positioned along an edge in any orientation. A pixel that passes the non-cornerness test is considered a reliable corner. The proposed method also adopts the idea of non-maximum suppression to remove multiple corners from the results of the non-cornerness function. The proposed method is compared with previous popular methods and is tested with an artificial test image covering several corner forms and three real-world images that are universally used by the community to evaluate the accuracy of corner detectors. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms previous corner detectors with respect to accuracy, and that it is suitable for real-time processing.

  • A positron camera, consisting of a pair of Anger-type scintillation detectors, has been developed for verifying the ranges of irradiation beams in heavy-ion radiotherapy. Images obtained by a centroid calculation of photomultiplier outputs exhibit a distortion near the edge of the crystal plane in an Anger-type scintillation detector. The images of a $\^$68/Ge line source were detected and look-up tables were prepared for the position correction parameters. Asymmetry of the position distribution detected by the positron camera was prevented with this correction. As a result, a linear position response and a position resolution of 8.6 mm were obtained over a wide measurement field.

  • In a treatment planning for actual patients with a complex internal structure, we often expect that proton beams, which pass through both a bolus and the heterogeneity in body, will form complex dose distributions. Therefore, the accuracy of the calculated dose distributions has to be verified for such a complex object. Then dose distributions formed by proton beams passing through both the bolus and phantoms simulating a clinical heterogeneity in patients were measured using a silicon semiconductor detector. The calculated results by the range-modulated pencil beam algorithm (RMPBA) produced large errors compared with the measured dose distributions since dose calculation using the RMPBA could not predict accurately the edge-scattering effect both in the bolus and in clinical heterogeneous phantoms. On the other hand, in spite of this troublesome heterogeneity, calculated results by the simplified Monte Carlo (SMC) method reproduced the experimental ones well. It is obvious that the dose-calculations by the SMC method will be more useful for application to the treatment planning for proton therapy.

  • In Oriental medicine, the shape of collarette that formed with position in iris of patients often used by health diagnotcian to grasp health condition. In this paper, we present method that effectively extract collarette that exist in Iris image. After proposed method detert iris area using circular edge detector, derides boundary candidate point through radial line search and threshold value establishment. And boundary candidate line is treated to use nearest neighbor calculation at each boundary candidate point, finally extracts collarette through linear interpolation. As a result of experimenting about iris images, We Confirmed that can be used as assistant tool of diagnostic system that can presume state of ventriculus of human body.

  • This study was performed for the clinical applications applying the Monte Carlo methods. In this study we calculated the absorbed dose distributions for the 6 MeV electron beam in water phantom and compared the results with measured values. The energy data of electron beam used in Monte Carlo calculation is the energy distribution for 6 MeV electron beam which is assumed as a Gaussian form. We calculated percent depth doses and beam profiles for three field sizes of $10{\times}10,\;15{\times}15$, and $20{\times}20\;cm^2$ in water phantom using Monte Carlo methods and measured those data using a semiconductor detector and other devices. We found that the calculated percent depth doses and beam profiles agree with the measured values approximately. However, the calculated beam profiles at the edge of the fields were estimated to be lower than the measured values. The reason for that result is that we did not consider the angular distributions of the electrons in phantom surface and contamination of X-rays in our calculations. In conclusion, in order to apply the Monte Carlo methods to the clinical calculations we are to study the source models for electron beam of the linear accelerator beforehand.

  • A real-time inspection system has been developed by combining CCD based image processing algorithm and a standard lighting equipment. The system was tested for defective fabrics showing nozzle contact scratch marks, which are one of the frequently occurring defects. Two algorithms used were compared according to both their processing time and detection rate. First algorithm (algorithm A) was based on morphological image processing such as dilation and opening for effective treatment of defective printing areas while second one (algorithm B) mainly employs well-defined edge detection technique based on canny detector and Zermike moment. It was concluded' that although both algorithms were quite successful, algorithm B showed relatively consistent performance than algorithm A in detecting complex patterns.

  • This paper describes a new programmable DLL_based frequency synthesizer. Generally, PLLs have been used for frequency synthesis. Inherent fast locking DLLs are also used for frequency synthesis. However, DLL needs a frequency multiplier for various frequencies. A conventional frequency multiplier used in DLL has a restriction in which a multiple is fixed. However, the proposed DLL can generate clocks which are from 6 times to 10 times of the reference clock. Frequency range of the proposed DLL is from 600MHz to 1GHz. The idea has been confirmed by HSPICE simulations in a $0.35-\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS process.
