Social Networking Sites for e-Recruitment: A Perspective of Malaysian Employers

  • The use of social networking sites (SNS) for e-recruitment has shifted the focus away from traditional hiring and selection processes. They are commonly used in the search and acquisition of new employees and are projected to expand in the near future as an e-recruitment tool. However, there is a lack of material on SNS and their impact on an employers' intention to use these sites for e-recruitment, in the context of Malaysia. Hence, there is an acute necessity for research on the extent that the features of SNS can influence the employers' intention to use SNS for e-recruitment and to know how to keep utilizing the platform for future e-recruitment. This study aims to identify the key features of SNS that lead to employers' intention to use SNS for e-recruitment in Malaysia. In this cross-sectional study, random sampling was utilized to obtain data from 198 recruitment professionals using online survey. The findings show that data quality, reliability, networking spectrum and simplicity of navigation of SNS are the key predicting factors for intention to use SNS for e-recruitment. Therefore, employers should acknowledge these key features of SNS to achieve their e-recruitment goals.

  • In cut throat competition, organizations all over the world try to utilize the immense opportunities the Internet has to offer in almost all of their operations. Today, Social networking sites (SNSs) provide utilities designed to help companies to recruit right personnel. Considering the implication of social media for recruitment at infancy stage in Pakistan and lack of studies related to it, this study aims to investigate the role of different SNSs qualities (Easily navigate, Secure process, Eminence Proficiency, Candidate's Attraction and Network Expedition) in effective E-recruitment (EER). Data were collected through structured questionnaire from employees and managers of major telecom companies of Pakistan. Finally, the result of 355 returned and valid questionnaire with 55% response rate show that the relationship between SNSs qualities and EER is significant. Moreover, results also prove that EER is better than the tradition recruitment and a SNSs comparison show that Facebook is more effective than LinkedIn for EER. The results of this study will help Pakistani companies to develop a successful e-HRM and EER strategy in the current scenario.

온라인 시장의 성장에 따른 패션산업 내 채용직종 및 직무 변화 및 교육방향 (Job type for recruitment, job function change and education direction in the fashion industry along with the growth of the online market)

  • As the online industry is vitalized by the fashion market, there is a tendency to believe that the recruitment of manpower in the online distribution field is increasing. Thus, this study attempts to analyze the job types and job functions for recruitment in the fashion industry based on job search sites and based on this, suggest an educational direction within the department of fashion design. First, when examining the size (number of employees) of fashion companies that posted jobs, the fashion companies with 30 or fewer employees accounted for 60.7% of the postings, and the location of the fashion companies was most commonly in Seoul with 144 companies located in Gangnam (Seocho-gu, Gangnam-gu). As for the recruitment conditions of the fashion companies, "academic level-irrelevant" was the highest with 42.6%, and in terms of gender and age, 59.3% of the cases were marked as "gender and/or age-irrelevant". Examining the types of jobs for recruitment in the fashion industry, fashion designers were the most popular at 52.6%, followed by on and off-line companies' MD, VMD, and stylist in that order. In the results of examining job function change, it is thought that the fashion design department should have basic educationon in that respect.

Determinants to Behavioral Intentions of Job Recruiters to Distribute to E-Recruitment Systems

  • Purpose: With the interest and ability in recruitment, it is totally worthy to discover how is labor market developed in Vietnam since the existence of the Internet. Considering employers as well as recruiters similar to jobseekers in term of technology adoption of job distribution, they should be treated fairly while performing their scopes of work. This paper aims to explore how employers perceive online recruiting platform as a supportive system, and this is to find out contributions of external factors regarding Job Boards behavioral intention to use. Research design, data and methodology: Conceptual framework tests the hypotheses involving in recruitment websites. Results: The results suggest that Board of Directors (BoD) or direct middle managers need to pay more attention on how their workforce performs through various channels of recruitment - both formal and informal, such as Linkedin or Facebook rather than a few compulsory job boards - no longer being accessed with high performance expectancy. However, the technology adaptation of recruitment is still a controversial issue due to its access to privacy of users. Conclusion: Therefore, employers should be more careful on how their personal contacts are going to be delivering without consent. Secondly, keeping systems up to date and "connected" is essential for both employees and employers.

사회복지조직의 직원 채용과정에 대한 질적 사례연구 (A Qualitative Case Study on Staff Recruitment Process of Social Welfare Organization)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 사회복지조직의 직원 채용과정을 심층적으로 이해하고자 하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 공개모집과 다차원적인 선발방법을 통해 직원을 채용하기로 한 사회복지관과 접촉하여 심층면접과 관찰, 기록물 등을 통해 다양한 자료를 수집하고 사례연구 접근으로 분석하였다. 채용과정 분석결과는 결원에서 채용 공고까지, 서류심사, 면접심사, 최종 선발과 발표, 임명의 5단계로 구분하여 각 단계에서 나타난 특성들을 제시하고 기관과 면접관, 지원자들의 관점을 반영하여 해석하였다. 또한 주제 분석을 통해 '역지사지', '경험을 통해 성장하기', '동상이몽', '사회복지에 특화된 채용방법의 부재'라는 주제들이 도출되었고, 이에 대해 논의하였다. 결론에서는 직원 채용과정에서 사회복지조직들이 고려해야 할 실천적 지침들을 제시하였으며, 이 연구의 결과를 더욱 발전시킬 수 있는 후속연구에 대해서도 제안하였다.

  • The distribution of staff in a hierachial organization has been studied in a variety of forms and models. Results here show that the promotion process follows a binomial distribution with parameters n and $\alpha=e^{-pt}$ and the recruitment process follows a poisson distribution with parameter $\lambda$. Futhermore, the mean time to promotion in the grade was estimated.

대규모 교란현상 후 형성된 대형갈조류 감태(Ecklonia cava) 개체군의 계절적 변동 및 회복 양상 (Recovery Pattern and Seasonal Dynamics of Kelp Species, Ecklonia cava Population Formed Following the Large-scale Disturbance)

  • 대규모 교란현상 이후 형성된 대형갈조류 감태 개체군의 계절적 변동과 회복양상을 이해하기 위해서 감태의 형태학적 특성, 가입, 사망률, 밀도와 생물량을 2013년 6월부터 2015년 6월까지 조사하였다. 감태의 전체 길이, 가장 긴 측엽의 길이와 개체당 무게는 뚜렷한 계절적 경향성을 보였다. 줄기부의 길이는 겨울부터 봄까지 증가하였으나, 여름부터 가을까지는 변화가 없었다. 이러한 결과는 감태의 형태적 변화가 주로 엽상부의 변화에 의해 나타난다는 것을 의미한다. 감태의 성장은 수온이 $15{\sim}18^{\circ}C$인 겨울부터 봄까지 매우 활발하게 일어나지만, $20^{\circ}C$ 이상의 수온에서는 저해되는 것으로 나타났다. 가입은 실험이 진행되는 기간 동안 봄부터 여름에 걸쳐 매우 낮았다. 그러나 2015년 4월 생육밀도의 감소로 인해 감태의 피도가 매우 낮아진 시점에 대량의 가입이 발생하였으며, 이것은 감태의 가입이 계절적 요인 보다는 공간과 차광효과 같은 물리적 요인에 의해 조절된다는 것을 시사한다. 어린 개체는 부착기질의 불안정성으로 인해 매우 높은 사망률을 보였다. 태풍 '볼라벤'에 의한 교란 이후 34개월이 되는 2015년 6월에 이르러 개체군의 구조가 교란 이전 수준으로 회복되었다. 따라서 대규모 교란현상 이후 감태 개체군이 교란 이전의 개체군 구조로 회복되는 데에는 3년 이상의 시간이 소요되는 것으로 판단된다. 이 연구는 해중림을 구성하는 대형갈조류의 관리, 복원 및 보호 전략을 수립하는데 매우 귀중한 생태학적 자료를 제공할 것이다.

NADPH Oxidase 4-mediated Alveolar Macrophage Recruitment to Lung Attenuates Neutrophilic Inflammation in Staphylococcus aureus Infection

  • When the lungs are infected with bacteria, alveolar macrophages (AMs) are recruited to the site and play a crucial role in protecting the host by reducing excessive lung inflammation. However, the regulatory mechanisms that trigger the recruitment of AMs to lung alveoli during an infection are still not fully understood. In this study, we identified a critical role for NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) in the recruitment of AMs during Staphylococcus aureus lung infection. We found that NOX4 knockout (KO) mice showed decreased recruitment of AMs and increased lung neutrophils and injury in response to S. aureus infection compared to wildtype (WT) mice. Interestingly, the burden of S. aureus in the lungs was not different between NOX4 KO and WT mice. Furthermore, we observed that depletion of AMs in WT mice during S. aureus infection increased the number of neutrophils and lung injury to a similar level as that observed in NOX4 KO mice. Additionally, we found that expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM1) in NOX4 KO mice-derived lung endothelial cells was lower than that in WT mice-derived endothelial cells. Therefore, we conclude that NOX4 plays a crucial role in inducing the recruitment of AMs by controlling ICAM1 expression in lung endothelial cells, which is responsible for resolving lung inflammation during acute S. aureus infection.

DA-9601, Artemisia Asiatica Herbal Extract, Ameliorates Airway Inflammation of Allergic Asthma in Mice

  • We previously reported that DA-9601, ethanol herbal extract of Artemisia asiatica, inhibited histamine and leukotriene releases in guinea pig lung mast cells activated with specific antigen/antibody reaction. This study aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effect of DA-9601 on the OVA-induced airway inflammation in allergic asthma mouse model. BALB/c mice were sensitized and challenged with OVA. DA-9601 was administered orally 1 h before every local OVA-challenge. OVA-specific serum IgE was measured by ELISA, recruitment of inflammatory cells in BAL fluids and lung tissues by Diff-Quik and H&E staining, respectively, the expressions of CD40, CD40L and VCAM-1 by immunohistochemistry, goblet cell hyperplasia by PAS staining, activities of MMPs by gelatin zymography, expressions of mRNA and proteins of cytokines by RT-PCR and ELISA, activities of MAP kinases by western blot, and activity of NF-${\kappa}B$ by EMSA. DA-9601 reduced IgE level, recruitment of inflammatory cells into the BAL fluid and lung tissues, expressions of CD40, CD40L and VCAM-1 molecules, goblet cell hyperplasia, MMPs activity, expressions of mRNA and productions of various cytokines, activities of MAP kinases and NK-${\kappa}B$ increased from OVA-challenged mice. These data suggest that DA-9601 may be developed as a clinical therapeutic agent in allergic diseases due to suppressing the airway allergic inflammation via regulation of various cellular molecules expressed by MAP kinases/NF-${\kappa}B$ pathway.

c-Cbl Acts as an E3 Ligase Against DDA3 for Spindle Dynamics and Centriole Duplication during Mitosis

  • The spatiotemporal mitotic processes are controlled qualitatively by phosphorylation and qualitatively by ubiquitination. Although the SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein (SCF) complex and the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) mainly mediate ubiquitin-dependent proteolysis of mitotic regulators, the E3 ligase for a large portion of mitotic proteins has yet to be identified. Here, we report c-Cbl as an E3 ligase that degrades DDA3, a protein involved in spindle dynamics. Depletion of c-Cbl led to increased DDA3 protein levels, resulting in increased recruitment of Kif2a to the mitotic spindle, a concomitant reduction in spindle formation, and chromosome alignment defects. Furthermore, c-Cbl depletion induced centrosome over-duplication and centriole amplification. Therefore, we concluded that c-Cbl controls spindle dynamics and centriole duplication through its E3 ligase activity against DDA3.
