  • Consider a connected molecular graph G = (V, E) where V is the set of vertices and E is the set of edges. In G, vertices represent the atoms and edges represent the covalent bonds between atoms. In graph G, every edge (say) e = uv will be connected by two atoms u and v. The edge Szeged index is a topological index which has been introduced by Ivan Gutman. In this paper, we have computed edge Szeged indices of a hydrocarbon family called Benzene ring and is denoted by $(BR)_{n{\times}n}$.

  • In this paper, we study the transcendental meromorphic solutions for the nonlinear differential equations: fn + P(f) = R(z)eα(z) and fn + P*(f) = p1(z)eα1(z) + p2(z)eα2(z) in the complex plane, where P(f) and P*(f) are differential polynomials in f of degree n - 1 with coefficients being small functions and rational functions respectively, R is a non-vanishing small function of f, α is a nonconstant entire function, p1, p2 are non-vanishing rational functions, and α1, α2 are nonconstant polynomials. Particularly, we consider the solutions of the second equation when p1, p2 are nonzero constants, and deg α1 = deg α2 = 1. Our results are improvements and complements of Liao ([9]), and Rong-Xu ([11]), etc., which partially answer a question proposed by Li ([7]).

  • We study a class of left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian Sasaki metrics on solvable Lie groups, which can be characterized by the property that the zero level set of the moment map relative to the action of some one-parameter subgroup {exp tX} is a normal nilpotent subgroup commuting with {exp tX}, and X is not lightlike. We characterize this geometry in terms of the Sasaki reduction and its pseudo-Kähler quotient under the action generated by the Reeb vector field. We classify pseudo-Riemannian Sasaki solvmanifolds of this type in dimension 5 and those of dimension 7 whose Kähler reduction in the above sense is abelian.

  • Apo E polymorphism(e2, e3, e4) was among the first reported genetic polymorphism that explained part of the normal vairation in plasma cholesterol concentrations. Both alleles E2 and E4 are significantly more frequent in patients with mixed forms of hyperlipidemia and contribute on the observed differences in CHD risk among different populations. Effects of apo E polymorphism on the distribution of plasma lipid profiles were studied in 89 normolipidemic healthy females, aged 19 up to 22 years. The relative frequencies of E3/3 was 0.787, E3/2 was 0.101, E3/4 allele was 0.112 and no E2/2, E2/4 and E4/4 were found. Weight, height and %LBM were elevated in E2 than those in E3&E4. No differences in the blood pressure among apo E isomers were found, otherwise the pulsation was higher in E4 than that in the others. There were no differences in plasma total-, total DL-, HDL$_3$-, HDL$_2$ cholesterol, apo B-100 and apo A-I, However, phenotype means rank E3/2>E3/3>E3/4 in average TG levels(p<0.0001) significantly, and rank E3/4>E3/3>E3/2 in LDL cholesterol levels. These results were related to the correlation between atherogenic indiced (AI) such as LDL/HDL, (TC-HDL)/HDL, HDL$_3$/HDL$_2$. The ratio of HDL$_3$& HDL$_2$was significantly increased in E2 & E4 than that in E3(P=0.043). LCAT activity was not different between E2 and E3 but was highly increased in E4 (p<0.0001 among apo E isomers), but CETP was not different. Since the negative correlation between LCAT and CETP in apo E2(r=-0.491) was stronger than that in apo E3, E2 allele impacts the clearance of plasma apo E mediated lipoproteins. In conclusion firstly, E4 mediated alteration through LDL or E receptors results in lower TG or higher $\beta$-lipoprotein levels and E2 shows reciprocal effects of E4, respectively. Second, E4 allele was more atherogenic than E2 allele because the higher levels of AI such as HDL$_3$/HDL$_2$ were criticized.

  • This paper searched the affect of Water dropwort and Tumeric on radiation exposure. By experimenting 50 male mouse, ICR type 5 weeks old male 25~30g, 5 mouse was divided in to each group respectively. A : 3 Gy control group, B : 5 Gy control group, C : 3 Gy, FW, D : 5 Gy FW, E : 3 Gy LW, F : 5 Gy LW, G : 3 Gy FT, H : 5 Gy FT, I : 3 Gy LT, J : 5 Gy LT FW : Ate Water dropwort before the radiation exposure. FT : Ate Tumeric before the radiation exposure. LW : Ate Water dropwort after the radiation exposure. LT : Ate Tumeric after the radiation exposure. During the 7 day radiation, Control group (A, B) received physiological saline (500mg/kg/day) in oral administration, LW and LT group (E, F, I, J) respectively received Water dropwort or tumeric (500mg/kg/day) in oral administration after the radiation, FW and FT group (C, D, G, H) respectively received Water dropwort or tumeric (500mg/kg/day) in oral administration before the radiation. As a result, an average leukocyte rate on 5 mouse was 200K/${\mu}L$ on group A. 6.46K/${\mu}L$ on group C which was in normal rate range (1.8-10.7 K/${\mu}L$). An average leukocyte rate was 23.33K/${\mu}L$ on group G. which was not normal rate, but compare to 200K/${\mu}L$, it was closer to normal rate. An average lymphocyte rate was 118.87K/${\mu}L$ on Group A. 1.51K/${\mu}L$ on Group G. which was in normal lymphocyte rate range (0.9-9.3K/${\mu}L$). An average thrombocyte rate was 4000K/${\mu}L$ on Group A. 1107 K/${\mu}L$ on Group C. 2759.6 K/${\mu}L$ on Group G. which was in normal thrombocyte rate range (592-2972 K/${\mu}L$). From this result, it was found that when exposed to radiation, Water dropwort and Tumeric have defensive effect in a preventive level. Also from an animal experiment, it was found that blood corpuscle rate returns to a normal rate. Based on this experiment, diverse research on this field should be conducted.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate effect of EMD on proliferation of HPDLCs and MC3T3-E1 cells in high glucose condition in vitro. Material and method: The Human PDL fibroblasts(HPDLCs) were obtained through typical way and the cells used in this experiment were divided in 4 groups. $1{\times}10^4/ml$ HPDLCs suspension was cultured in typical DMEM and assigned to group 1. The cells cultured in DMEM which included 400mg/dl glucose are allocated to group 3. Group 2 and 4 are established by adding EMD to group 1 and 3 respectively. These control and experimental groups had been cultured for 24 and 48 hours, and MTT assay was conducted. The differences of each group in cellular proliferation was evaluated. The same experiment was conducted for preosteoblast (MC3T3-E1) with adding $25\;{\mu}g/ml$ EMD. Results: EMD had the same effect on both PDL cells and MCT3T3-E1 cells. The experimental group had more meaningful differences and active cellular proliferation than the control group did. The EMD accelerated cellular proliferation not only in normal glucose condition but also in high glucose condition. The same results were observed via MTT assay; EMD-added experimental group had more meaningful differences and showed higher cellular activity than control group did. Each experimental and control group was inspected for statistical significance through Kruskal-Wallis Test. Statistical significances were observed among these groups. (SPSS 12.0 Chicago, IL, USA, p=0.008, p=0.011) Conclusion: EMD is considered to accelerate proliferation of PDL cells and MC3T3-E1 cells in high glucose condition as well as normal glucose condition.

  • Background : Nowadays asthma is considered to be an inflamatory disease characterized by airborne hyper-responsiveness and pulmonary eosinophilia. Objective : We aimed to identify the effects of Sochongryongtang on blood eosinophil, serum IgE and T lympocyte subpopulation in asthmatic patients. Material and Methods : The subjects consisted of fifteen patients with asthma who had been treated with Sochongryongtang for two weeks from February 2001 through June 2001. Sochongryongtang is herbal decoction which has been used for the traditional therapeutic agent of asthma. Results : The blood eosinophil and serum IgE in a normal controlled group. However, the T lympocyte subpopulation in asthmatic patients was not significantly different from the T lympocyte subpopulation in a normal group. The patients were treated with Sochongryongtang for two weeks. No significant difference in the blood eosinophil, serum IgE and T Iympocyte in the sub population. After treatment with Sochongryongtang for two weeks, FEV 1 increased significantly over 0.5 points out of total scores. Conclusion : This study shows that Sochongryongtang has effects on improvement of pulmonary function and quality of life in asthmatic patients. However, the patients who were treated with Sochongryongtang for two weeks showed no significant difference in the blood eosinophil, serum IgE and T lympocyte subpopulation. Further long-term studies must be made on a large number of asthmatic patients.

  • This study examined the relationship between the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and urine microalbumin/creatinine ratio (uACR) with ferritin in Korean adults. This study included 4,948 adults aged ${\geq}20years$ from the 2012 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) data. A covariance test adjusted for covariates was performed for the ferritin levels in relation to the decreased eGFR (eGFR<$60ml/min/1.73m^2$) and elevated uACR ($uACR{\geq}30mg/g$). Several key findings were made in the present study. First, after adjusting for the related variables, the ferritin level was higher in the decreased eGFR group [$103.04{\pm}6.59mL/min/1.73m^2$; 95% confidence interval (CI), 90.12~115.96] than in the normal eGFR group ($84.87{\pm}1.16mL/min/1.73m^2$; 95% CI, 82.59~87.14; P=0.007). Second, after adjusting for the related variables, the ferritin level ($M{\pm}SE$) was similar in the normal uACR group ($85.70{\pm}1.20mg/g$; 95% CI, 83.35~88.05) and elevated uACR group ($82.72{\pm}4.09mg/g$; 95% CI, 74.71~90.73) (P=0.487). Chronic kidney disease was positively associated with the ferritin level in Korean adults but albuminuria was not.
