  • The human reliability analysis is a method by which, in general terms, the human impact to the safety and risk of a nuclear power plant operation can be modelled, quantified and analysed. It is an indispensable element of the PSA process within the nuclear industry nowadays. The paper herein presents a sensitivity study of the human reliability analysis performed on a real nuclear power plant-specific probabilistic safety assessment model. The analysis is performed on a pre-selected set of post-initiator operator actions. The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of these operator actions on the plant risk by altering their corresponding human error probabilities in a wide spectrum. The results direct the fact that the future effort should be focused on maintaining the current human reliability level, i.e. not letting it worsen, rather than improving it.

  • This paper describes the design and analysis of an integrated transformer magnetic core which comprises of two different power cores with PFC inductor and LLC resonant transformer magnetic cores. The equivalent magnetic circuit modeling approach is employed to analyze the variations in coupling coefficient and inductance in terms of air gaps under the operations of the respective power core. Simulation and experimental studies are performed with a fabricated prototype integrated core and their results are discussed.

  • We describe a comparative analysis of different tools used to assess safety-critical software used in nuclear power plants. To enhance the credibility of safety assessments and to optimize safety justification costs, $Electricit{\acute{e}}$ de France (EDF) investigates the use of methods and tools for source code semantic analysis, to obtain indisputable evidence and help assessors focus on the most critical issues. EDF has been using the PolySpace tool for more than 10 years. Currently, new industrial tools based on the same formal approach, Abstract Interpretation, are available. Practical experimentation with these new tools shows that the precision obtained on one of our shutdown systems software packages is substantially improved. In the first part of this article, we present the analysis principles of the tools used in our experimentation. In the second part, we present the main characteristics of protection-system software, and why these characteristics are well adapted for the new analysis tools. In the last part, we present an overview of the results and the limitations of the tools.

  • In this paper, the design and implementation of a high power(300W) forward converter using a planar transformer is presented. The overall size and volume of the converter is decreased by replacing a planar transformer in stead of using a conventional winding transformer. Due to the decreased size and volume, power density of the applied forward converter is increased. Also, in this paper, the 300W ZVS forward converter with active clamp snubber circuit is compared to the 300W hard switching forward converter.

  • The effects of power frequency electric and magnetic fields have been a source of concern for many years. Electromagnetic fields can pose a theat to both signal system of electrified railways and human body around railways. It is believed that, though the electromagnetic fields do no serious harm to human health, they do induce biological effects. This paper estimates the electromagnetic fields near Kyeongbu high speed railways with numerical data. The charge simulation method and surface charge method are used to calculate the electric field of 2 dimensional power distribution lines and rails and magnetic field is calculated on the base of Biot-Sarart's law.

  • High density power supply technology has been researched over the last few years. In this paper, integrated LLCT(Inductor-Inductor-Capacitor-Transformer) structure is described for use in the half-bridge series resonant converter. The structure is analysed by means of FEMM(Finite Element Method Magnetics) and the experimental results of an U structure for a 300W converter we presented.

  • Wind farm grid codes require wind generators to ride through voltage sags, which means that normal power production should be re-initiated once the nominal grid voltage has been recovered. Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based wind farm is gaining popularity these days because of its inherent advantages like variable speed operation and independent controllability of active and reactive power over conventional Induction Generator (IG). This paper proposes a new control strategy using DFIGs for stabilizing a wind farm composed of DFIGs and IGs. Simulation analysis by using PSCAD/EMTDC shows that the DFIGs can effectively stabilize the IGs and hence the entire wind farm through the proposed control scheme by providing sufficient reactive power to the system.

  • This paper deals with a novel 3-phase power quality disturbance generator. The proposed generator can be applied to the performance that of custom power devices. Voltage sag, swell and outage are provided by the generator. The control scheme for the disturbance generation is simple, and hardware setup is cost effective, compared with conventional scheme. The operating principle of the generator is described and the usefulness verified through simulation with 10KVA power rating.

  • In this paper, The laser transmitter module is designed as the subsystem of the high repetitive laser rangefinder. The module consists of high voltage power supply, high voltage control circuits, high voltage discharger, electro-optic Q-switch driver, and laser resonator. The high voltage power supply is composed of 2-phase flyback converter. And it has 220W power level and 78% conversion efficiency. From the Q-switch driver of the crossed porro resonator, the phase retardation voltage is switched from 600V to -1500V with 200ns falling time. The module can be operated up to 15Hz. And it generates the laser pulse which has 20ns width and 80mJ.
