This study was undertaken to document and better define this condition to help clarify this clinical and radiographic appearances by the analysis of clinical and radiographic features of cementoma. A study was made of a series of 104 cases with cementoma. This investigation of cementoma revealed the following features: 1. The female occurred in 73% of periapical cemental dysplasia and benign cementoblastoma, and 80% of cementifying fibroma. 2. 40% of periapical cemental dysplasia occurred in the fifth decades, and 73% of benign cementoblastoma during the second and third decades, while there was no age predilection in the cementifying fibroma. 3. 63% of periapical cemental dysplasia occurred in the mandibular anterior region. 91% of benign cementoblastoma and 80% of cementifying fibroma occurred in the mandibular premolar and/or molar region. 4. There were no cases complaining the associated clinical signs and subjective symptoms in the periapical cemental dysplasia, however the patient complained the pain in 36% of benign cementoblastoma and 40% of cementifying fibroma. 5. There were no cases expanding the cortical plates in the periapical cemental dysplasia, however 73% of benign cementoblastoma and all of 5 cases of cementifying fibroma showed the expansion of cortical plates. 6. Several radiographic features of the periapical cemental dysplasia were shown: a. 29% of the cases had multiple lesions. b. 53% of the cases were in the mature stage. c. During the osteolytic stage, the alveolar lamina dura was lost in 89% of the cases.
Fibrous dysplasia is a skeletal developmental anomaly of the bone-forming mesenchyme that manifests as a defect in osteoblastic differentiation and maturation. It is a nonhereditary disorder of unknown cause. In fibrous dysplasia, the medullary bone is replaced by fibrous tissue, which appears various imaging findings. It is usually an incidental finding, generally not requiring further investigation. However, fibrous dysplasia may be complicated by pathologic fracture, and rarely by malignant degeneration. We present the image findings of a 44-year-old man who had a chondroblastic osteosarcoma arising from polyostotic fibrous dysplasia in the femur. Evidence of cortical destruction on plain radiography and soft tissue mass in the lesion on MR images suggested a tumor of malignant transformation.

Craniofrontonasal dysplasia(CFND), a rare congenital syndrome, is characterized by varying degrees of frontonasal dysplasia, craniosynostosis, and variable extracranial abnormalities. It was first reported by Cohen in 1979. The inheritance pattern is not straightforward. Although all modes of Mendelian inheritance have been suggested, the most plausible explanation is that this is an X-linked condition with the unusual situation of complete expression in females, and minimal to no expression in males. In our case, CFND was diagnosed in a female neonate who had unilateral coronal craniosynostosis, frontal bossing, orbital hypertelorism, broad nasal root, clefting nasal tip, corpus callosum agenesis and mild extremity abnormalities.
Objectives: This review is to figure out evidence that suggests the effectiveness of Korean Medicine treatments against Human Papilloma virus (HPV) infection and Cervical Dysplasia. Methods: Studies on HPV infection and cervical dysplasia were searched through 5 databases: Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS), Korean Studies Information Service System (KISS), the Journal of Korean Obstetrics & Gynecology, China Academic Journal (CAJ), Pubmed. After that, the articles were extracted with reference point of Korean Traditional Medicine. Results: 21 studies were included lastly according to selection criteria. In 21 studies, HPV turning - negative rate of Korean Medicine treatment group was higher than the control treatment group. Conclusions: 21 studies indicates that Korean Medicine treatment is effective in HPV infection and Cervical Dysplasia.
Objectives: This report is aimed to investigate the efficacy of Korean medicine including intravenous Cultivated Wild Ginseng(Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) Pharmacopuncture(CWGP) with intractable cervical dysplasia patient. Methods: A 49-year-old woman who was diagnosed as cervical dysplasia on Feb 2012 was treated with Korean medicine for 3 months. Korean medicine includes intravenous CWGP, acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal medicine. The effect of therapies was evaluated with human papillomavirus deoxyribonucleic acid(HPV DNA) testing. And lower limb cold sense and genital pruritus were recorded with Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). Results: Lower limb cold sense and genital pruritus were decreased from VAS 8-9(2012.04.11.) to VAS 1-2(2012.07.10.). HPV DNA test result was changed from positive to negative. From these results, this report suggests that the Korean medicine, especially CWGP may be a useful method to treat intractable cervical dysplasia. Conclusions: This report shows that Korean medical treatments are effective on intractable cervical dysplasia.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate risk factors and symptoms in cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD) patients. Materials and Methods: In this study, 62 patients who were diagnosed histologically with COD were investigated from 2010 to 2020 at the author's institution. We compared clinical and radiological characteristics of symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. The factors were sex, age, lesion size, site, radiologic stage of lesion, apical involvement, sign of infection, and history of tooth extraction. Statistical analysis was performed using Fisher's exact test and the chi-square test. Results: COD was more prevalent in female patients. With the exception of three cases, all were focal COD. The majority of patients presented with symptoms when the lesion was smaller than 1.5 cm in size. Symptoms were observed when the apex of the tooth was included in the lesion or there was a local infection around the lesion. The history of tooth extraction and previous endodontic treatment were evaluated, and history was not a significant predictor for the onset of symptoms. Conclusion: In this study, risk factors associated with symptomatic patients were size of lesion, apical involvement, and local infection.
Purpose: This review is to figure out evidence that suggest effectiveness of Korean Medicine treatments against cervical dysplasia. Methods: Studies on cervical cancer and cervical dysplasia were searched through 6 databases: Korean Studies Information Service System(KISS), National Discovery for Science Leaders (NDSL), Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (Korean TK), Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS), the Journal of Korean Medicine, and the Journal of Korean Obstetrics & Gynecology. After that, the articles were extracted with reference point of Korean Traditional Medicine. Results: 37 articles were included lastly according to selection criteria. 3 of them were case reports on cervical dysplasia, and 34 were in-vitro studies on Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) positive cancer cell. In case reports, acupuncture, moxibustion, medical herbs and pharmacoacupuncture were used for treatments of cervical dysplasia with about 3 months. Experimental studies on cervical cancer cell showed that several herbs function with clear heat, eliminate stasis (淸熱解毒, 化瘀消腫) have anti-cancer effects inducing apoptosis. Conclusions: The results of articles are not enough to use in practice. Therefore, we indicates more advanced research methodology as follows: development of Korean Medicine treatment protocol with oral and external, in-vivo experimental study, and evaluation immunity index.

Fibrous dysplasia is a condition characterized by the replacement of the medullary component of predominantly long bone with fibrous tissues. The monostotic form of the fibrous dysplasia occurs more frequent than the polyostotic form. Only the twenty three previous cases of vertebral involvement in monostotic fibrous dysplasia have been reported. Authors experienced a case of monostotic fibrous dysplasia of the third lumbar vertebra, so we report this case. Report details the diagnosis and treatment of a 34 years old man with back pain from monostotic fibrous dysplasia of the third lumbar vertebra. We discuss the experience in the consideration of previous report to recommend the optimal management of this disease.
Cleidocranial dysplasia is rare inherited skeletal dysplasia. It was first reported by Martin in 1765. Subsequently, Marie and Sainton independently documented the criteria of the disease. Cleidocranial dysplasia is a bone disorder caused by a defect in the CBFA1 gene of chromosome 6p21. This gene guides osteoblastic differentiation and appropriate bone formation. Patient with cleidocranial dysplasia has maxillary deficiency, high and narrow palate, prolonged retention of primary teeth, unerupted permanent teeth and supernumerary teeth. Therapeutic options in these patients include of autotransplantation of selected impacted teeth, forced eruption of permanent teeth, full denture, overdenture and implant-supported prosthesis. We report a patient with cleidocranial dysplasia. This patient was treated with implant supported bar overdenture. Despite of gene defect that affects osteoblastic activity, bone remodeling and osseointegration occurred in our patient. So, we report this case with review of literature.

Fibrous dysplasia is a common benign disorder of bone in which normal bone marrow is replaced with fibro-osseous tissue. As PET/CT is increasingly used for the staging of different malignant disease, incidentally found fibrous dysplasia with increased FDG uptake may mimic metastasis. We report on a 46-year-old woman with fibrous dysplasia who underwent PET/CT because of suspected recurrence of breast cancer and was misdiagnosed as a bony metastasis with a focal FDG uptake on left proximal femur. This lesion was interpreted as fibrous dysplasia based on MRI in addition to the plain radiographs. We conclude that MRI in addition to radiography may help to differentiate fibrous dysplasia mimicking metastasis on PET/CT in the patients with malignancy.
