Accurate cloud discrimination in satellite images strongly affects accuracy of remotely sensed parameter produced using it. Especially, cloud contaminated pixel over ocean is one of the major error factors such as Sea Surface Temperature (SST), ocean color, and chlorophyll-a retrievals,so accurate cloud detection is essential process and it can lead to understand ocean circulation. However, static threshold method using real-time algorithm such as Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) can't fully explained reflectance variability over ocean as a function of relative positions between the sun - sea surface - satellite. In this paper, we assembled a reflectance spectral library as a function of Solar Zenith Angle (SZA) and Viewing Zenith Angle (VZA) from ocean surface reflectance with clear sky condition of Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) identified by NOAA's cloud products and spectral library is used for applying the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) to detect cloud pixels. We compared qualitatively between AHI cloud property and our results and it showed that AHI cloud property had general tendency toward overestimation and wrongly detected clear as unknown at high SZA. We validated by visual inspection with coincident imagery and it is generally appropriate.
A framework for multi-platform analytical and multi-component hybrid (testing-analysis) simulations is described in this paper and illustrated with several application examples. The framework allows the integration of various analytical platforms and geographically distributed experimental facilities into a comprehensive pseudo-dynamic hybrid simulation. The object-oriented architecture of the framework enables easy inclusion of new analysis platforms or experimental models, and the addition of a multitude of auxiliary components, such as data acquisition and camera control. Four application examples are given, namely; (i) multi-platform analysis of a bridge with soil and structural models, (ii) multiplatform, multi-resolution analysis of a high-rise building, (iii) three-site small scale frame hybrid simulation, and (iv) three-site large scale bridge hybrid simulation. These simulations serve as illustrative examples of collaborative research among geographically distributed researchers employing different analysis platforms and testing equipment. The versatility of the framework, ease of including additional modules and the wide application potential demonstrated in the paper provide a rich research environment for structural and geotechnical engineering.
An important signal processing problem in PVDF sensor is the restoration of surface information from electric sensing signals. The objectives of this research are to design a new texture sensing system and to develop a new signal processing algorithm for signals from the sensor to be tangibly displayed by tangible interface systems. The texture sensing system is designed to get surface information with high resolution and dynamic range. First, a PVDF sensor is made of piezoelectric polymer (polyvinylidene fluoride) strips molded in a silicon rubber and attached in a rigid cylinder body. The sensor is mounted to a scanning system for dynamic sensing. Secondly, a new signal processing algorithm is developed to restore surface information. The algorithm consists of the two-dimensional modeling of the sensor using an identification method and inverse filtering from sensing signals into estimated surface information. Finally the two-dimensional surface information can be experimentally reconstructed from sensing signals using the developed signal processing algorithm.

Microstereolithography has evolved from the stereolithography technique, and is also based on a light-induced layer-stacking manufacturing. Integral microstereolithography is proposed for building a 3D microstructure rapidly, which allows the manufacture of a complete layer by one irradiation only. In this study, we developed the integral microstereolithography apparatus based on the use of $DMD^{TM}$ as dynamic pattern generator. It is composed of Xenon-Mercury lamp, optical devices, pattern generator, precision stage, controllers and the control program. Also, we estimated curing characteristics in photopolymer. The relationship between the viscosity of diluent-oligomer solutions and curing width, irradiation time and curing property has been studied.

This paper presents a full-CMOS transmitter and receiver for VDSL2 systems. The transmitter part consists of the low-pass filter, programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and 14-bit DAC. The receiver part consists of the low-pass filter, variable gain amplifier (VGA), and 13-bit ADC. The low pass filter and PGA are designed to support the variable data rate. The RC bank sharing architecture for the low pass filter has reduced the chip size significantly. And, the 80 Msps, high resolution DAC and ADC are integrated to guarantee the SNR. Also, the transmitter and receiver are designed to have a wide dynamic range and gain control range because the signal from the VDSL2 line is variable depending on the distance. The chip is implemented in 0.25 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology and the die area is 5 mm $\times$ 5 mm. The spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) and SNR of the transmitter and receiver are 67.5 dB and 41 dB, respectively. The power consumption of the transmitter and receiver are 160 mW and 250 mW from the supply voltage of 2.5 V, respectively.

In this paper, we propose a layered video coding scheme which can generate multi-layered bitstream for heterogeneous environments. A new motion prediction structure with temporal hierarchy of frames is developed to afford temporal resolution scalability and the wavelet decomposition is adopted to offer spatial acalability. The proposed scheme can have a higher compression ratio than replenishment schemes by using motion estimation and compensation which can further reduce the temporal redundancy, and it effectively works with dynamic adaption or errors using dispersive intra-subband update (DISU). Moreover, data rate scalability can be attained by employing embeded zerotree wavelet (EZW) technique which can produce embeded bitstream. Therefore, the proposed scheme is expected to be effectively used in heterogeneous environments such as the Internet, ATM, and mobile networks where interoperability are required.
Wide-bandwidth SQUID current amplifier and its control electronics have been constructed for detecting pulse outputs of a superconducting microcalorimeter. The current amplifier made of a double relaxation oscillation SQUID (DROS) has a bandwidth of 1.2 MHz and typical white noise level of about 6 pA/(equation omitted) Hz. To increase the dynamic range of the current amplifier, the flux-locked loop (FLL) has additional circuits to reset the integrator and to count reset numbers which present the number of passed flux quanta. In this system, dynamic range covers from -65 mA to +65 mA. SQUID electronics are controlled by software to get the optimum FLL condition, and to control the current to bias the transition edge sensor (TES). The electronics are shielded from the outside electromagnetic noises by using an aluminum case of 66 mm ${\times}$ 25 mm ${\times}$ 100 mm, and consist of 2 separate printed-circuit-boards for the current amplifier and the control electronics, respectively. The SQUID current amplifier and its control electronics will be used in TESs for detecting photons such as UV and X-ray with high energy resolution.

Wavelet transforms are the emerging signal-processing tools for damage identification and time-frequency localization. A small perturbation in a static or dynamic displacement profile could be captured using multi-resolution technique of wavelet analysis. The paper presents the wavelet analysis of damaged linear structural elements using DB4 or BIOR6.8 family of wavelets. Starting with a localized reduction of EI at the mid-span of a simply supported beam, damage modeling is done for a typical steel and reinforced concrete beam element. Rotation and curvature mode shapes are found to be the improved indicators of damage and when these are coupled with wavelet analysis, a clear picture of damage singularity emerges. In the steel beam, the damage is modeled as a rotational spring and for an RC section, moment curvature relationship is used to compute the effective EI. Wavelet analysis is performed for these damage models for displacement, rotation and curvature mode shapes as well as static deformation profiles. It is shown that all the damage indicators like displacement, slope and curvature are magnified under higher modes. A localization scheme with arbitrary location of curvature nodes within a pseudo span is developed for steady state dynamic loads, such that curvature response and damages are maximized and the scheme is numerically tested and proved.

Ductility based design of reinforced concrete structures implicitly assumes certain damage under the action of a design basis earthquake. The damage undergone by a structure needs to be quantified, so as to assess the post-seismic reparability and functionality of the structure. The paper presents an analytical method of quantification and location of seismic damage, through system identification methods. It may be noted that soft ground storied buildings are the major casualties in any earthquake and hence the example structure is a soft or weak first storied one, whose seismic response and temporal variation of damage are computed using a non-linear dynamic analysis program (IDARC) and compared with a normal structure. Time period based damage identification model is used and suitably calibrated with classic damage models. Regenerated stiffness of the three degrees of freedom model (for the three storied frame) is used to locate the damage, both on-line as well as after the seismic event. Multi resolution analysis using wavelets is also used for localized damage identification for soft storey columns.
Airborne separation assurance is a key requirement for Free Flight Airspace operations, This paper study the feasibility of airborne separation assurance for free flight Airspaces operations by evaluating the efficiency measurement models. Three qualitatively different methods are utilized; one based Ground and Air conflict probability model, other based Dynamic Density model. the other based Direct operating cost model. The evaluation is Direct Operating Cost model and Two metrics are utilized for the efficiency measurements; airborne separation assurance performed quite well in the Free Flight evaluation; (1) 2 scenario of the conflict situations are resolved; (2) The MD-80 flight peformed separation assurance and efficiency, Not only appling for geometric method algorithm is more efficiently than potential method, but also the most efficiently geometric combined method.
