Natural fiber henequen/unsaturated polyester (UPE) composites were fabricated by means of a compression molding technique using chopped henequen fibers treated at various electron beam (EB) dosages. The interfacial shear strength (IFSS), dynamic mechanical properties, and thermal expansion behavior were investigated through a single fiber microbonding test, fractographic observation, dynamic mechanical analysis, and thermomechanical analysis, respectively. The results indicated that the interfacial and dynamic mechanical properties significantly depended on the level of the EB treatment irradiated onto the henequen fiber surfaces. The effect of EB treatment on the IFSS, storage modulus and fracture surface of the henequen/UPE composites agreed with each other. The results of this study also suggested that the modification of henequen fiber surfaces at 10 kGy EB is the most effective for improving the interfacial properties of the henequen/UPE composites.

Two kinds of static and dynamic state estimation methods are newly discussed for the problem of the measurement disturbance of environmental low-frequency noise in the presence of wind-induced noise. First, the probability characteristics of wind-induced noise are discussed in the form of probability distribution conditioned by wind speed, based on the simultaneous observation of the wind-induced noise and wind speed near a microphone. Next, especially form the viewpoint of simplicity for practical use, two kinds of static and dynamic state estimation methods are discussed. The static estimation method using the information on wind speed is fundamentally supported by the conservation principle of energy sum. The dynamic one is the method by using a recursive digital filter with the parameters successively renewed by the information on wind speed. This can be also simplified by using well-know Kalman filter under the assumption of the Gaussian distribution. The effectiveness of proposed two estimation methods are shown through experiments under a breezy condition in the open filed.

This study aims to explore the dynamic conditional correlation (DCC) between ten Asian stock indexes, the US stock index, and Bitcoin by using the dynamic conditional correlation model. The time span of the daily data is between January 2015 to May 2021, the total observation is 1,116. DCC(1,1)-EGARCH(1,1) with multivariate t and normal distributions for the DCC and EGARCH models, respectively, outperforms other models by the goodness of fit values. Except for Bitcoin, we discovered that the majority of the securities' volatilities have a very high volatility persistence. Furthermore, the negative shocks/news have more impact on the volatilities than positive shocks/news in most of the cases, except the stock index of China and Bitcoin. Most of the correlation pairs exhibit higher correlation during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the pre-COVID-19, except Hong Kong-The US and Malaysia-Indonesia. Moreover, the correlation between Asian stock indexes during the COVID-19 pandemic is statistically higher than the pre-COVID-19 pandemic. However, there are a few instances where the Hong Kong stock index and a few countries are identical. The result of correlation size shows the connectedness between Asian stock markets, which are well-connected within the region, especially with South Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
The purpose of this study is to point out that the segment-based study on child phonological acquisition is not sufficient in accounting for the ever-changing dynamic development of child phonology and to attempt to explain child phonology in terms of syllable-based theory of phonology, one of various types of non -linear phonology which have been studied since the late 1970's. According to Gruber's observation. it is obvious that children perceive their own concept of syllable even at the early stage of babbling. In addition, the statistical data show that the CV-type syllable is most frequently used in child phonology. These evidences seem to suffice to conclude that the CV-type syllable is the most unmarked of all four core syllable types in the sense of Clements & Keyser(1983). Starting with this observation, it is further argued that in child phonology the markedness of syllable types increases in the order of CV, CVC, VC and V.

In this paper, technical issues for an optical bench of high precision LEO Earth observation satellite are described. The optical bench should be stable for thermal and dynamic environment. In this point of view, an intermediate type of optical bench is developed. Thermal deformation analysis and modal analysis are performed for two types of FE model. Modal test are performed to verify the analysis results. The test results fit well the analysis results.
It is well known that chromospheric features are fine structured, short lived, and dynamic. Spectrograph-based observation have obvious advantage of getting physical properties of solar chromosphere than filter-based one. We developed and installed Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph (FISS) attached on New Solar Telescope in Big Bear Solar Observatory. FISS have capabilities to take data with high time, spatial and spectral resolution at two wavelengths(Ha $6563{\AA}$ and CaII $8542{\AA}$) simultaneously. After FISS installation, we observed various chromospheric features : active regions, quiet regions, filaments/prominences and so on. As one of chromospheric studies, we analyzed solar prominences and got physical parameters by using simple radiative transfer modeling. The ranges of temperature and non-thermal velocities are found to be 7500-13000K and 5-11km/s, respectively.
In satellite remote sensing, irregular temporal sampling is a common feature of geophysical and biological process on the earth's surface. Lee (2008) proposed a feed-back system using a harmonic model of single period to adaptively reconstruct observation image series contaminated by noises resulted from mechanical problems or environmental conditions. However, the simple sinusoidal model of single period may not be appropriate for temporal physical processes of land surface. A complex model of multiple periods would be more proper to represent inter-annual and inner-annual variations of surface parameters. This study extended to use a multi-periodic harmonic model, which is expressed as the sum of a series of sine waves, for the adaptive system. For the system assessment, simulation data were generated from a model of negative errors, based on the fact that the observation is mainly suppressed by bad weather. The experimental results of this simulation study show the potentiality of the proposed system for real-time monitoring on the image series observed by imperfect sensing technology from the environment which are frequently influenced by bad weather.

Intravital video microscopy permits the observation of microcirculatory blood flow. This often requires fluorescent probes to visualize structures and dynamic processes that cannot be observed with conventional bright-field microscopy. Conventional light microscopes do not allow for simultaneous bright-field and fluorescent imaging. Moreover, in conventional microscopes, only one type of fluorescent label can be observed. This study introduces multispectral intravital video microscopy, which combines bright-field and fluorescence microscopy in a standard light microscope. The technique enables simultaneous real-time observation of fluorescently-labeled structures in relation to their direct physical surroundings. The advancement provides context for the orientation, movement, and function of labeled structures in the microcirculation.

A web-based camera (webcam) is expected to enhance construction operation monitoring. However, webcams are often installed outside a building because their mobility is limited by cable wiring, which makes it difficult to monitor construction operations inside the building. If a webcam is integrated with emerging wireless communication technologies, construction professionals may be able to monitor interior construction operations using webcams without getting network cables wired on a congested and dynamic construction job site. However, one may concern that wireless communication may not be fast enough to transport all webcam images seamlessly. This paper presents an investigation as to the observation error of webcam images when a limited amount of images are delivered.

We explore the range of possibilities of temperatures, heated temperature, and Kappa values of a current sheet observation on 2017 September 10. First, we construct a grid model with rapid heating (Theat) and various Kappa (κ) values. We assume a simple density model and use adiabatic cooling to set the temperature during expansion. Next, we calculate the ion fractions using a time-dependent ionization model with adiabatic cooling and various Kappa values. The calculated ion fractions are used to simulate the DNs of the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly on board the Solar Dynamic Observatory. Then, we explore the possible range of the temperatures and Kappa values, comparing the simulated images with the observations. Finally, we discuss the range of the heated temperature and Kappa values and whether the result of this study suggests continuous heating of the current sheet plasma during the expansion.
