This paper deals with modeling and dynamic characteristic analysis of a large-powered LNG electric ship propulsion system. Basically, we perform to verify the adequacy of system modeling on the sea going mode and LNG unloading mode based on load flow analysis. And then, we observe the dynamic characteristic of system to perform motor starting analysis and transient stability analysis. Particularly, this paper examine analysis results in comparison with the IEEE standard 141 and the class rule. Hence, this paper has evaluated stability of the electric ship propulsion system at static and dynamic conditions.
MR dampers show highly nonlinear and histeretic dynamic behavior. Therefore, for a vehicle dynamic simulation with MR dampers, this dynamic characteristics should be accurately reflected in the damper model. In this paper, an artificial neural network technique was developed for modeling MR dampers. This MR damper model was successfully verified through a random input forcing test. This MR damper model can be used for semi-active suspension vehicle dynamics and control simulations with practical accuracy.
Taguchi's robust design is a method for quality improvement by making a system insensitive to uncontrollable variations incurred by noise factors and it has received much attention in a wide range of engineering fields. Robust design can be broadly classified into static and dynamic ones. This paper is concerned with dynamic robust design. Taguchi suggested to use a signal-to-noise ratio as a robustness measure, but there has been much debate and criticism on its blind use. In order to cope with this drawback, many alternatives have been proposed. They are divided into performance measure modeling (PMM) and response function modeling (RFM) approaches. In this paper, both PMM and RFM approaches for dynamic robust design are reviewed. An example for illustration is provided as well.
This paper presents the modeling methods to analyze the static and dynamic performances for practical power system loads using field measurement data. Also, it is included that the several modeling techniques using EMTDC program and field measuring method for real static dynamic loads. As a result of this study, through the comparisons between simulation results and measurement data, typical parameters of static and dynamic loads according to the variation of system voltage and frequency are given.
Escalators are widely used for mass transportation in public places. In recent years, strict requirements on the comfort and reliability for the public transportation have drawn a great attention to vibration in escalators. This paper presents a dynamic model for escalators to be used for the analysis and design of low vibration escalators. The dynamic model is developed so as to reflect the physical observation on peculiar characteristics in escalators such as the difference between up-moving and down-moving, and the abnormal vibration affected by the load applied. For validation of the dynamic model developed, experimental results are compared with numerical results from the model. The numerical study shows that the developed model may be useful for the analysis and design of escalator systems.
There have been lots of efforts to analyze the dynamic characteristics of mechanical systems. However, it is difficult to know the dynamic characteristics of mechanical systems composed of many parts with joints. Specially, in case of a bolted joint structure, no effective modeling method has been defined to acquire dynamic characteristics of the structure, using the finite element (FE) analysis. In this research, a linear dynamic model is developed for bolted joints and large interfaces using con frusta method and linear spring elements, respectively. The developed modeling method for bolted joints is verified based on the experimental result.

This paper presents the dynamic modeling, analysis, and control of an AC/DC/AC-assisted, self-excited induction generator connected to the grid. The dynamic model includes wind turbine models with pitch control, gear boxes, self-excited induction generators, excitation capacitance, inductive load models, controlled six-pulse rectifiers, and novel state-space models of a grid-connected inverter. The system has been simulated to verify its capabilities of buildup voltage, stator flux response, stator phase current, electromagnetic torque, and magnetizing inductance variation during both the dynamic and steady states with a variable-speed prime mover. The complete setup of the above dynamic models was simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
The P&S(Power Plant Simulation System) is a powerful simulation software system for the dynamic behavior of power plants. The P&S module libraries provide plant models with higher flexibility of dynamic simulations for process and control designs. The P&S software was effectively available for PCS based on Linux and modem workstations based on Unix. The P&S was applied for simulating the dynamic behaviors of the SOVR(Supercritical Once-Through Variable Pressure Reheater) according to the operations such as stan-up, shutdown, load following, load change and trip in order to obtain an optimal operation procedure for Unit 5/6 of Taeahn fossil power plant consisted of SOVRs and steam turbines.
