  • Purpose: Quasi-steady state simulations have played a pivoting role to expand the user group of simulation to design engineers and architects in Korea. Initially they are introduced in the market as a building energy performance rating tool. In domestic practice, however, quasi-steady state simulations seem to be regarded as a de facto simulation only available for energy retrofit. Selection of ECMs and economic feasibility analysis are being decided through these tools, which implies that running these tools has become a norm step of the Investment-grade Audit. Method: This study aims at identifying issues and problems with the current practice via test cases, analyzing the reasons and opportunities, and then eventually suggesting proper uses of quasi-steady state and dynamic simulations. Result: The functionality of quasi-steady state simulations is more optimized to the rating. If they are to used for energy retrofits, their off-the-shelf functions also need to be expanded for customization and detailed reports. Yet their roles may be limited only to the go/no go decision; because their algorithms are still weak at precisely estimating energy and load savings that are required for making investment decisions compared to detailed simulations.

  • Research of reusability and variability design for embedded system development is insufficient. An embedded system should be designed to support new devices. If extensibility of embedded system is not considered, it is difficult to reconstruct. Currently, the development productivity and reusability of embedded system are very poor, and this will be cased about problems of increasing maintenance and development cost, and decreasing system quality such as software crisis. In this paper, we present framework of embedded system that address those problems of embedded system. We suggest a plug-in technique, based on reusability framework, which can support various devices dynamically. Also, we propose a dynamic Meta model which is base on plug-in technique.

  • As a very rapid diffusion of internet business in these days, the marketing mix strategies become more important matters. In addition, because of changes in international trade patterns, and an increase of internet users, new marketing strategies are needs. There's not a business in the world that shouldn't feel threatened by the internet, but companies willing to become engaged should find big opportunities. Becoming engaged with the internet, for matters, means understanding the unique nature of the internet market and using that understanding to execute dynamic strategies. This paper is focusing the analysing the difference between the internet marketing and traditional marketing and proposing the new strategical marketing mix. In the traditional marketing environment, 4P(Product, Price, Promotion, Place) is very important, but in the internet business environment 6C(Community, Connection, Commerce, Communication, Customization, Contents) is more important.

  • As the features of mobile phones are being enhanced and the performance is being greatly improved, the generic operating systems are being incrementally used in mobile phones. However, since the mobile phones have different requirements in both features and performance compared with desktop or server systems, the operating systems for generic systems could not be used without customization and modification. This case study paper describes the design and implementation of a Linux-based smartphone hardware and software. The enhancements and additional implementations in both kernel and middleware layers are explained. As an experiment, the power consumption of the implemented mobile phone under a number of user scenarios has been measured.

  • Assembly line has been recognized as an efficient production system in mass production. However, the recent production environment characterized as mass customization urges production managers to transform a long assembly line to a number of short assembly cells. To maximize the utilization of resources in an assembly cell, it is important to have the line balanced. This paper presents a bucket brigade-based assembly cell. Bucket brigade is a way of coordinating workers who progressively perform a set of assembly operations on a flow line. Each worker follows a simple rule: perform assembly operations on a product until the next worker downstream takes it over; then go back to the previous worker upstream to take over a new assembly job. In this way, the line balances itself. The bucket brigade assembly cell is analyzed and compared with traditional assembly lines and general assembly cells. The paper also discusses some prerequisite requirements and limitations when the bucket brigade assembly cells are employed.

  • There is increasing demand for enterprise smartwork system by a mobile device increases in these days. Therefore, it has been suggested in the technical platform of smartwork system. But,the research of the changeable smartwork system for quick and immediate correspondence of rapidly changing business affairs is insufficient. In this paper, we propose an adaptable mobile service architecture that can be based on the construction of flexible mobile smartwork system. This adaptable mobile service architecture is possible to dynamic service connecting the adaptable service in an existing smartwork system, and the core elements of the adaptable mobile service architecture propose 'Adaptable Service Manager', 'HotSpot', and 'Configurator'. We propose the dyanmic service processs that based on These core elements. Also, we verify the feasibility through case study that develop the project management mobile service that is usable in business of enterprise. Thus, this research provides the adaptable mobile service architecture that can provide the dynamic mobile service beyond the static mobile service of the existing smartwork system for the various change business of enterprise.

  • For a long time, the ocean was regarded as unknown area ruled by god, consequently, not so much things were developed in scientific methods and activities. Despite a rapid development of geographic information systems(GIS) marine and ocean fields still remained in the scope of traditional tools and intuitive experiences by the late of 1990. However, land based concepts and technology models require additional customization to apply GIS effectively in marine domains, which are resulted from her dynamic, complex and seamless massive nature. This paper gives a brief review of marine spatial data characteristics and also presents strategic approaches to meet the unique marine GIS requirements.

  • In a home network system, each customer electronic device has the control data format chosen by its manufacturing company and there are various types of digital devices and protocols. Besides the mutual operating environments among the various devices are dissimilar. Affected by the characteristics explained above, home network systems can hardly support the crucial functions, such as data compatibility, concurrency control, and dynamic plug-in. Thus, the home network system shows relatively poor reusability. In this paper, we suggest design technique of configurable framework, which can widely support the variability, to increase the reusability of the home network system. We extract the different parts of the home network system as variation points, and define them as the variability types. We design a structure of configurable framework, and suggest customization technique of configurable framework through selection technique and plug-in technique. Also, we prove the reusability by applying the proposed framework and it methods to real-world home network systems and analyzing the measurement results of these case studies using software metrics. We can expect the proposed approach provides better reusability than the existing them by analyzing those measurement results.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to suggest the development of a learning management system for dental radiology education using the Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment(Moodle). Materials and Methods: Moodle is a well-known and verified open-source software-learning management system (OSS-LMS). The Moodle software was installed on a server computer and customized for dental radiology education. The system was implemented for teaching undergraduate students to diagnose dental caries in panoramic images. Questions were chosen that could assess students' diagnosis ability. Students were given several questions corresponding to each of 100 panoramic images. Results: The installation and customization of Moodle was feasible, cost-effective, and time-saving. By having students answer questions repeatedly, it was possible to train them to examine panoramic images sequentially and thoroughly. Conclusion: Based on its educational efficiency and efficacy, the adaptation of an OSS-LMS in dental school may be highly recommended. The system could be extended to continuing education for dentists. Further studies on the objective evaluation of knowledge acquisition and retention are needed.
