  • The Hippocratic database model recently proposed by Agrawal et at. incorporates privacy protection capabilities into relational databases. The authors have subsequenty proposed the Hippocratic XML daかabase model[4], an extension of the Hippocratic database model for XML databases. In this paper, we propose a new concept that we cail the dynamic predicate(DP) for effective access control in the Hippocratic XML database model. A DP is a novel concept that represents a dynamically constructed rendition that tan be adapted for determining the accessibility of elements during query execution. DPs allow us to effectively integrate authorization checking into the query plan so that unauthorized elements are excluded in the process of query execution. Using synthetic and real data, we have performed extensive experiments comparing query processing time with those of existing access control mechanisms. The results show that the proposed access control mechanism improves the wall clock time by up to 219 times over the top-down access control strategy and by up to 499 times over the bottom-up access control strategy. The major contribution of our, paper is enabling effective integration of access control mechanisms with the query plan using the DP under the Hippocratic XML database model.

  • This paper investigates a priority scheme for IEEE 802.11 Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol in order to provide short access times for priority frames (e.g. time-deadline traffic) even when the overall traffic on the wireless channel is heavy. Under the compatibility constraint for the IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs, two priority systems are simulated: no priority (current IEEE 802.11 standard) for time-deadline traffics and dynamic time-deadline priority. We evaluate algorithms to improve the time-deadline traffic performance using discrete event simulation (DES)

  • With an increase in the relevance of next-generation integrated networking environments, the need to effectively utilize advanced networking techniques also increases. Specifically, integrating Software-Defined Networking (SDN) with Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) is critical for enhancing network flexibility and addressing challenges such as security vulnerabilities and complex network management. SDN enhances operational flexibility by separating the control and data planes, introducing management complexities. This paper proposes a reinforcement learning-based network path optimization strategy within SDN environments to maximize performance, minimize latency, and optimize resource usage in MEC settings. The proposed Enhanced Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO)-based scheme effectively selects optimal routing paths in dynamic conditions, reducing average delay times to about 60 ms and lowering energy consumption. As the proposed method outperforms conventional schemes, it poses significant practical applications.

  • The conventional semiconductor equipment has adopted SRAM module as the test pattern memory, which has a simple design and does not require refreshing. However, SRAM has its disadvantages as it takes up more space as its capacity becomes larger, making it difficult to meet the requirements of large memories and compact size. if DRAM is adopted as the semiconductor inspection equipment, it takes up less space and costs less than SRAM. However, DRAM is also disadvantageous because it requires the memory cell refresh, which is not suitable for the semiconductor examination equipments that require correct timing. Therefore, In this paper, we will proposed an algorithm for punctuality guarantee of memory-free inspection equipment using DDR2 SDRAM. And we will Developed memory controller using punctuality guarantee algorithm. As the results, show that when we adopt the DDR2 SDRAM, we can get the benefits of saving 13.5 times and 5.3 times in cost and space, respectively, compared to the SRAM.

  • Cluster based VOD systems require elaborate load balancing and buffer management techniques in order to ensure real-time display for multiuser concurrently. In this paper, we propose a new load balancing technique based on the dynamic buffer partitioning in cluster based VOD servers. The proposed technique evenly distribute the user requests into each service node according to its available buffer capacity and disk access rate. In each node, the dynamic buffer partitioning technique dynamically partitions the buffer to minimize the average waiting time for the requests that access the same continuous media. The simulation results show that our proposed technique decreases the average waiting time by evenly distributing the user requests compared with the exiting techniques and then increases the throughput in each node. Particularly under the overloaded condition in the cluster server, the simulation probes that the performance of the proposed technique is better two times than the Generalized Interval Caching based technique.

  • Recently, large-scale directories have been developed for LINUX cluster file systems to store and retrieve huge amount of data. One of them, GFS directory, has attracted much attention because it is based on extendible hashing, one of dynamic hashing techniques, to support fast access to files. One distinctive feature of the GFS directory is the flat structure where all the leaf nodes are located at the same level of the tree. Hut one disadvantage of the mode structure is that the height of the mode tree has to be increased to make the tree flat after a byte is inserted to a full tree which cannot accommodate it. Thus, one byte addition makes the height of the whole mode tree grow, and each data block of the new tree needs one more link access than the old one. Another dynamic hashing technique which can be used for directories is linear hashing and a couple of researches have shown that it can get better performance at file access times than extendible hashing. [n this research, we have designed and implemented an extendible hashing directory and a linear hashing directory for large-scale LINUX cluster file systems and have compared performance between them. We have used the semi-flat structure which is known to have better access performance than the flat structure. According to the results of the performance evaluation, the linear hashing directory has shown slightly better performance at file inserts and accesses in most cases, whereas the extendible hashing directory is somewhat better at space utilization.

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel conditional access system to reduce the overhead transmission rate for messages which verify the entitlement of subscribers in bandwidth-limited system. We adapted a key update system with the tree structure which had been used for IP multicast to a group hierarchy for the subscriber groups or channel groups. We also analyzed the overhead transmission rate for periodic key update and aperiodic one for change in a subscriber. The numerical evaluations show that the proposed system can significantly reduce the overhead transmission rate for dynamic subscriber change up to several hundred thousands times for various system configuration.

  • The efficient utilization of cache memories is a key factor in achieving high performance for computing large signal transforms. Nonunit stride access in computation of large DFTs causes cache conflict misses, thereby resulting in poor cache performance. It leads to a severe degradation in overall performance. In this paper, we propose a dynamic data layout approach considering the memory hierarchy system. In our approach, data reorganization is performed between computation stages to reduce the number of cache misses. Also, we develop an efficient search algorithm to determine the optimal tree with the minimum execution time among possible factorization trees considering the size of DFTs and the data access stride. Our approach is applied to compute the fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Experiments were performed on Pentium 4, $Athlon^{TM}$ 64, Alpha 21264, UtraSPARC III. Experiment results show that our FFT achieve performance improvement of up to 3.37 times better than the previous FFT packages.

  • In this paper, two different dynamic cell coordination strategies for frequency flat and selective fading are proposed for efficient subcarrier allocation in the joint consideration of adaptive modulation and variable frequency reuse in the channel-aware OFDMA downlink multicellular environment. Compared to a conventional OFDMA system without cell coordination, where system throughput may become degraded due to the persistent interference from other cells, the proposed system dynamically allows RNC to apply different reuse factors on each subchannel and scheduling in consideration of channel and interference conditions of individual users so as to increase the system throughput and guarantee QoS of each user. In a frequency flat fading, the dynamic scheme with the proposed scheduling achieves on average three times larger throughput than the conventional dynamic scheme [8]. In a selective fading channel, the proposed schemes showed 2.6 times as large throughput as that of a single reuse factor of one for all subchannels.

  • Typically, a smart car is equipped with access to the Internet and a wireless local area network. Moreover, a smart car is equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) based navigation system that presents a map to a user for recommending the shortest path to a desired destination. This paper presents the design and implementation of a real-time shortest path search system for directed and dynamic roads. Herein, we attempt to simulate real-world road environments, while considering changes in the ratio of directed roads and in road conditions, such as traffic accidents and congestions. Further, we analyze the effect of the ratio of directed roads and road conditions on the communication cost between the server and vehicles and the arrival times of vehicles. In this study, we compare and analyze distance-based shortest path algorithms and driving time-based shortest path algorithms while varying the number of vehicles to search for the shortest path, road conditions, and ratio of directed roads.
