Dynamic Analysis far Bridge Using the Experimental Results of Hysteretic Damping Bearing and Dynapot (교량용 내진 받침의 동특성 실험 결과를 이용한 교량의 해석)

  • Base Isolation system is an effective design strategy that provides a practical substitute for the seismic design of bridge. In this study, the dynamic tests were performed on two kinds of aseismic bridge bearings : Hydampot (hysteretic damping bearing) and Dynapot . Then, the dynamic analysis was carried out far a bridge using the experimental results to estimate the seismic performance of the bearings. Analysis was performed for four types oi earthquake loadings. The results of the dynamic test and theoretical analysis indicate that the performance of both bridge bearings is appropriate fur the earthquake loading.

  • A parallel condensation algorithm for efficient dynamic analysis of three-dimensional large-scale structures is presented. The algorithm is developed for a user-friendly and cost effective high-performance computing system on a collection of Pentium processors connected via a 100 Mb/s Ethernet LAN. To harness the parallelism in the computing system effectively, a large-scale structure is partitioned into a number of substructures equal to the number of computers in the computing system Then, for reduction in the size of an eigenvalue problem the computations required for static condensation of each substructure is processed concurrently on each slave computer. The performance of th proposed parallel algorithm is demonstrated by applying to dynamic analysis of a three dimensional structure. The results show that how the parallel algorithm facilitates the efficient use of a small number of low-cost personal computers for dynamic analysis of large-scale structures.

A dynamic reliability approach to seismic vulnerability analysis of earth dams

  • Seismic vulnerability assessment is a useful tool for rational safety analysis and planning of large and complex structural systems; it can deal with the effects of uncertainties on the performance of significant structural systems. In this study, an efficient dynamic reliability approach, probability density evolution methodology (PDEM), is proposed for seismic vulnerability analysis of earth dams. The PDEM provides the failure probability of different limit states for various levels of ground motion intensity as well as the mean value, standard deviation and probability density function of the performance metric of the earth dam. Combining the seismic reliability with three different performance levels related to the displacement of the earth dam, the seismic fragility curves are constructed without them being limited to a specific functional form. Furthermore, considering the seismic fragility analysis is a significant procedure in the seismic probabilistic risk assessment of structures, the seismic vulnerability results obtained by the dynamic reliability approach are combined with the results of probabilistic seismic hazard and seismic loss analysis to present and address the PDEM-based seismic probabilistic risk assessment framework by a simulated case study of an earth dam.

  • To meet the requirements for accuracy, productivity and reliability of machine tools, it is necessary to evaluate the chatter-free machining performance and to improve the dynamic performance of machine tools. In order to perform dynamic design of machine tools reasonably and effectively, the joint parts must be modelled accurately because their characteristics affect significantly on the total characteristics of machine tool. In this paper, an approach which identifies the effect of joint parts on the performance of total machine tool structure was proposed. That uses the experimental modal analysis, the finite element method and the sensitivity analysis method. The effectiveness of this approach was confirmed by applying it to structures with bearing joints. And as a result of the application, the change of dynamic characteristics of bearing joints was indentified.

  • In this paper, dynamic performance of 4WD/4WS Electric-driven vehicles is investigated. A coupled dynamic model is introduced for longitudinal, lateral and yawing motion of 4WD/4WS vehicles. Based on the coupled model, dynamic performance is analyzed for steady-state steering, acceleration steering and brake steering, respectively. These non steady-state cornering analysis is important for non-paved road maneuvering, trajectory projection for armored vehicle and future AVCS(Advanced Vehicle Control System) technology. Simulation results are obtained based on a simulink module for the introduced model.

  • In recent year, the coat layer drops and the rebar rust of bridge parapets, which caused the structural performance degradation. In order to achieve the comprehensive rehabilitation, ultra high performance cementitious composites is proposed to existing RC parapet rehabilitation. The influence factors of UHPCC rehabilitation includes two parts, i.e., internal factors related with material, such as UHPCC layer thickness, corrosion ratio of rebars, fiber volume fraction, and external factors related with the load, such as impact speeds, impact angles, vehicle mass. The influence of the factors was analyzed in this paper based on the nonlinear finite element. The analysis results of the maximum dynamic deformation and the peak impact load of parapets revealed the influence of the internal factors and the external factors on anti-collision performance and degree degradation. This research may provide a reference for the comprehensive multifunctional rehabilitation of existing bridge parapets.

Shorted Turn in the Hybrid Magnet Engine Valve Actuator for Enhanced Dynamic Performance

  • This paper presents a new design of the hybrid magnet engine valve actuator using the shorted turn for enhanced dynamic performance. The quick response of coil electric current is the most important factor that determines the opening and closing performance of the hybrid magnet engine valve. The conventional hybrid magnet engine valve actuator, however, has a delayed initial electric current rising when it is driven by voltage control because of the coil inductance which is a typical characteristic of an electromagnetic coil. A shorted turn is newly placed into the upper yoke of the hybrid magnet engine valve actuator to reduce coil inductance and thus, to hasten the initial electric current rising. We performed a dynamic finite element analysis to demonstrate the improvement of the dynamic characteristics of the hybrid magnet engine valve actuator due to the shorted turn.

A Performance Analysis of DPA(Dynamic Priority Assignment) MAC Protocol for traffic QoS Improvement on HFC-CATV Network (HFC-CATV 망에서 트래픽 QoS 향상을 위한 DAP MAC 프로토콜 성능분석)

  • This paper proposes DPA(Dynamic Priority Assignment) MAC protocol to improve the traffic QoS on the HFC-CATV(Hybrid Fiber Coax CAble TeleVision) network. In results, DPA MAC protocol is the best performance compare with to IEEE 802.14a MAC in mean request delay, mean access delay. Also, the paper prove a reliability of proposed protocol through comparison between performance analysis and simulation result of DAP MAC protocol.

Design of TMO Model based Dynamic Analysis Framework: Components and Metrics (TMO모델 기반의 동적 분석 프레임워크 설계 : 구성요소 및 측정지수)

  • A lot of studies to measure and analyze the system performance have been done in areas such as system modeling, performance measurement, monitoring, and performance prediction since the advent of a computer system. Studies on a framework to unify the performance related areas have rarely been performed although many studies in the various areas have been done, however. In the case of TMO(Time-Triggered Message-Triggered Object), a real-time programming model, it hardly provides tools and frameworks on the performance except a simple run-time monitor. So it is difficult to analyze the performance of the real-time system and the process based on TMO. Thus, in this paper, we propose a framework for the dynamic analysis of the real-time system based on TMO, TDAF(TMO based Dynamic Analysis Framework). TDAF treats all the processes for the performance measurement and analysis, and Provides developers with more reliable information systematically combining a load model, a performance model, and a reporting model. To support this framework, we propose a load model which is extended by applying TMO model to the conventional one, and we provide the load calculation algorithm to compute the load of TMO objects. Additionally, based on TMO model, we propose performance algorithms which implement the conceptual performance metrics, and we present the reporting model and algorithms which can derive the period and deadline for the real-time processes based on the load and performance value. In last, we perform some experiments to validate the reliability of the load calculation algorithm, and provide the experimental result.

Dynamic Performance Simulation of the Propulsion System for the CRW Type UAV Using $SIMULINK^{\circledR}$

  • A Propulsion System of the CRW(Canard Rotor Wing) type UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) was composed of the turbojet engine to generate the propulsive exhaust gas, and the duct system including straight bent ducts, tip-jet nozzles, a master valve and a variable main nozzle for three flight modes such as lift/landing mode, low speed transition flight mode and high speed forward flight mode. In this study, in order to operate safely the propulsion system, the dynamic Performance behavior of the system was modeled and simulated using the SIMULIN $K^{ }$, which is the user-friendly GUI type dynamic analysis tool provided by MATLA $B^{ }$. In the transient performance model, the inter-component volume model was used. The performance analysis using the developed models was performed at various flight condition, valve angle positions and fuel flow schedules, and these results could set the safe flight mode transition region to satisfy the inlet temperature overshoot limitation as well as the compressor surge margin. Performance analysis results using the SIMULIN $K^{ }$ performance program were compared with them using the commercial program GSP.m GSP.
