Effects of a Newly Designed Pelvic Belt Orthosis on Functional Mobility of Adults with Post-Stroke Hemiparesis

  • Purpose : Lower extremity orthoses have been used as conservative methods to recover gait of the stroke patients. The purpose of this study is to examine how newly designed pelvic belt orthosis can improve gait ability and dynamic balance of adults with Hemiparesis after stroke. Methods : 22 patients who had hemiparesis after stroke participated in this study. Two groups were randomly created by assigning 10 subjects to the experimental group and the rest of the 12 subjects to the control group. The control group was treated by conventional physical therapy and occupational therapy. Identical therapy protocols were used to treat the experimental group who were assigned to wear the pelvic belt orthosis during post measurement. This study has a group of independent variables including group, gender, age, height, MAS, lesion side, cause and a group of dependent variables including gait speed, cadence, step length, stride length, and dynamic balance. The GAITRite system was used to measure spatial-temporal gain parameters and the balance system SD to measure dynamic balance. The data was analyzed using R version 3.3.1. Random forest, boosting algorithm, and MANOVA test were conducted to determine the effects of independent variables on dependent variables. Results : This study has a group of independent variables including group, gender, age, height, MAS, lesion side, cause and a group of dependent variables including gait speed, cadence, step length, stride length, and dynamic balance. The independent variable "group" has the most important value, which is approximately 25.42 (%IncMSE) representing a value three times greater than the second important predictor "height." Conclusion : As a result of this research, the hypothesis is validated with conclusion that Pelvic Belt orthosis could be effectively used for improving gait ability and balance of the patients with post-stroke hemiparesis.

유무선 통합 망에서 대량호 지능망 서비스의 성능 및 자원 최적화를 위한 동적 큐 관리자 (A Dynamic Queue Manager for Optimizing the Resource and Performance of Mass-call based IN Services in Joint Wired and Wireless Networks)

  • 본 논문은 유무선 통합망 환경하에서 대량호에 근거한 지능망 서비스의 호 완료율을 증가시키고 자원을 최적화하기 위한 정보 흐름 및 총괄서비스 로직을 설계한다. 이 로직을 구현하기 위하여 지능망 서비스제거에 호대기 서비스 특징을 적용하기 위한 동적 큐 관리자를 제시하는데, 이것을 유선 가입자뿐만 아니라 이동 단말을 소유한 무선 가입자에게도 적용하기위해 홈위치등록기와 서비스제어기간에 해당 서비스 가입자들의 이동성을 큐 관리자에게 통보하기 위한 서비스 등록 여부 프래그를 관리한다. 따라서, 이동 서비스 가입자가 로밍함에 따른 동적 서비스 그룹핑을 수행하고 M/M/c/K 큐잉 모델에 근거한 큐 길이를 동적으로 관리하여 자원을 최적화 할 수 있는 동적 큐 관리 메커니즘을 제안한다. 동적 큐 관리자에 의해 할당된 큐 길이를 결정하기 위해 서비스 증가율에 따른 가입자 단말 수와 실패율간의 관계 및 그에 따른 큐에서의 적정 대기 시간을 시뮬레이션 및 분석한다. 또한, 동적 큐 관리자를 구성하는 내부 서비스 로직과 SIB들간의 상호동작 및 자료 구조를 설계 및 구현한다.

중첩된 이동 네트워크환경에서 동적 라우팅 프로토콜을 이용한 경로 최적화 기법 (Route Optimization Scheme using Routing Protocol in Nested Mobile Networks)

  • IETF에서 표준화된 NEMOOfetwork Mobility) Basic Support Protocol은 이동 노드들로 구성된 이동 네트워크가 이동하는 경우 이동 네트워크 내에 있는 모든 노드들에게 네트워크의 이동과 관계없이 끊김 없는 통신 환경을 제공한다. 이 표준에서는 이동 네트워크가 자신의 흠 네트워크에서 외부로 이동하였을 경우 자신의 이동 정보를 홈 에이전트 (HA: Home Agent)에게 알리기 위한 방법으로 바인딩 업데이트 메시지를 이용하는 방법과 동적 라우팅 프로토콜을 이용하는 방법에 대하여 언급하고 있다. 하지만 이들 두 방법 모두 경로 최적화를 고려하고 있지 않기 때문에 이동 라우터(MR: Mobile Router)에 접속되어 있는 이동 네트워크 노드(MNN: Mobile Network Node)로 전송되는 모든 패킷들은 MR의 HA를 경유하여 전송할 수밖에 없으며 이로 인해 전송 지연과 대역폭 낭비를 초래하고 있다. 이동 네트워크를 구성하고 있는 MR들이 중첩 되어 있을 경우 전송 지연 및 대역폭 낭비는 더욱 커지게 되며 뿐만 아니라 중첩된 터널로 인한 패킷 단편화(packet fragmentation) 문제까지 발생할 수 있어 단일 이동 네트워크 환경에 비해 더욱 심각한 문제가 발생하게 된다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 이동 네트워크 환경에 적용 가능한 경로 최적화 기법에 대한 연구가 있어 왔지만 패킷 전달 성능 측면에서 문제점들이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 중첩된 이동 네트워크 환경에서 동적 라우팅 프로토콜을 이용하고 패킷들이 경유해야 하는 HA의 개수를 최소화하여 이동 네트워크로의 패킷 경로를 최적화함으로써 그 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 새로운 기법을 제안한다. 다양한 성능 분석을 통해 본 논문에서 제시한 기법이 기존 기법들에 비해 패킷 전달 성능 측면에서 우수함을 입증하였다.

  • Hierarchical Mobile IPv6(HMIPv6) 네트워크에서 도메인간의 핸드오버(Inter-domain handover)가 발생할 때 Mobile Nodes(MNs)는 과도한 신호전달 트래픽과 긴 핸드오버 지연시간에 의해 영향을 받게 되고, 이로 인하여 유지하고 있는 연결들이 깨어질 수도 있다. 또, 전체적인 시스템 성능은 Mobile Anchor Point(MAP)의 선택 방법과 부하 상태에 따라 큰 영향을 받는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 부하를 MAP들에 분산하면서 도메인간의 핸드오버를 감소시킬 수 있는 동적인 MAP 선택 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능 분석을 위하여 신호 전달 비용에 대한 분석적 모델을 수립하고 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 수치결과와 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여 제안한 알고리즘이 IETF HMIPv6에 기반을 둔 기존의 방법에 비해 부하를 더 균형 있게 분산시키고, 도메인 간 핸드오버의 횟수와 평균 신호 전달 비용을 감소시킨다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

The Effect on the Friction Forces of Big-End Bearing by the Aerated Lubricant

  • Lineal and angular movements of many engine components make the lubricant absorb air and the aerated lubricant greatly influences the clearance performance of contacting behaviors of engine components such as big-end bearing, cam and tappet, etc. This study investigates the behaviors of aerated lubricant in the gap between con-rod bearing and proceeding which is one of the most frictional energy consuming components in the engine. Our assumption for the analysis of aerated lubricant film is that the film formation is influenced by the two major factors. One is the density characteristics of the lubricant due to the volume change of lubricant by absorbing the bubbles and the other is the viscosity characteristics of the lubricant due to the surface tension of the bubble in the lubricant. In our investigation, it is found that these two major factors surprisingly increase the load capacity in certain ranges of bubble sizes and densities. Frictional forces are also influenced by the aerated bubble size and density, which eventually enlarge the shear resistance due the surface tension, Modified Reynolds' equation is developed for the computation of fluid film pressure with the effects of aeration ratio under the dynamic loading condition. From the calculated load capacity by solving modified Reynolds' equation, proceeding locus is computed with Mobility method at each time step.

A Hierarchical Model for Mobile Ad Hoc Network Performability Assessment

  • Dynamic topology is one of the main influence factors on network performability. However, it was always ignored by the traditional network performability assessment methods when analyzing large-scale mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) because of the state explosion problem. In this paper, we address this problem from the perspective of complex network. A two-layer hierarchical modeling approach is proposed for MANETs performability assessment, which can take both the dynamic topology and multi-state nodes into consideration. The lower level is described by Markov reward chains (MRC) to capture the multiple states of the nodes. The upper level is modeled as a small-world network to capture the characteristic path length based on different mobility and propagation models. The hierarchical model can promote the MRC of nodes into a state matrix of the whole network, which can avoid the state explosion in large-scale networks assessment from the perspective of complex network. Through the contrast experiments with OPNET simulation based on specific cases, the method proposed in this paper shows satisfactory performance on accuracy and efficiency.

  • The characteristics of the track are important concerning the mobility of tracked vehicles. It can be represented in terms of the track tension and maintaining the track tension adequately guarantees the stable and improved driving of the tracked vehicles. The track tension must be known in order to be controlled and it needs to be estimated in real-time because it is difficult to be measured. The tension around idler and sprocket can be controlled by the frizzy logic control system base on the estimated values. Dynamic Track Tensioning System(DTTS) which is estimating and controlling the track tension. In this paper, simulation tool is developed in order to apply the DTTS to real battle tanks. To construct the simulation tool, the Modeling the tracked vehicle, constructing estimation system, and designing controller should be achieved first and then all subsystem should be organized in one. The simulation tool make the RecurDyn model of tracked vehicle, which is plant model, and the control system exchange their data simultaneously. Simulation with many kinds of driving conditions and road conditions is carried out and the results are interpreted. The interpretation provides necessary information to apply the DTTS to real battle tanks.

  • In this paper ZMP was considered in order to get a walking stability, so the gait in the stable domain was realized through putting the stability margin in the sole domain of a foot. It is assumed that the robot's legs have 12 joints to operate a open-loop drive and there was no external disturbance under walking phases, additionally, the robot is walking on the flat plane. It was observed that the robot's walking trajectory, locus of COM and ZMP after imposing the motion to each joint. For realizing the simulation considering ZMP and movement of mass center, it was checked if it is stable for the constraint robot model to walk in stability and the feasibility was estimated about its dynamic gait. Eventually it was shown that a constraint gait algorithm is able to realize. To verify the proper walking process, ZMP(Zero Moment Point) theory is applied and the simulation has been done by ADAMS.

  • Electrical properties of multi-channel metal-induced unilaterally precrystallized polycrystalline silicon thin-film transistor (MIUP poly-Si TFT) devices and circuits were investigated. Although their structure was integrated into small area, reducing annealing process time for fuller crystallization than that of conventional crystal filtered MIUP poly-Si TFTs, the multi-channel MIUP poly-Si TFTs showed the effect of crystal filtering. The multi-channel MIUP poly-Si TFTs showed a higher carrier mobility of more than 1.5 times that of the conventional MIUP poly-Si TFTs. Moreover, PMOS inverters consisting of the multi-channel MIUP poly-Si TFTs showed high dynamic performance compared with inverters consisting of the conventional MIUP poly-Si TFTs.

  • Mobile agents have the unique ability to transport themselves from one system in a network to another. The ability to travel allows mobile agents to move to a system that contains services with which they want to interact and then to take advantage of being in the same host or network as the service. But most of conventional mobile agent systems require that the users or the programmer should give the mobile agent its detail behavioral script for accomplishing the given task. And during its runtime, such mobile agents just behave according to the fixed script given by its user. Therefore it is impossible that conventional mobile agents autonomously build their own plants and execute them in considering their ultimate goals and the dynamic world states. One way to overcome such limitations of conventional mobile agent systems is to develop an intelligent mobile agent system embedding a reactive planner. In this paper, we design both a model of agent mobility and a model of inter-agent communication based upon the representative reactive planning agent architecture called JAM. An then we develop an intelligent mobile agent system with reactive planning capability, IMAS, by implementing additional basic actions for agent moves and inter-agent communication within JAM according to the predefined models. Unlike conventional mobile agents. IMAS agents can be able to adapt their behaviors to the dynamic changes of their environments as well as build their own plans autonomously. Thus IMAS agents can show higher flexibility and robustness than the conventional ones.
