Dynamic response of functionally graded Carbon nanotubes (FG-CNT) reinforced pipes conveying viscous fluid under accelerated moving load is presented. The mixture rule is used for obtaining the material properties of nano-composite pipe. The radial force induced by viscous fluid is calculated by Navier-Stokes equation. The material properties of pipe are considered temperature-dependent. The structure is simulated by Reddy higher-order shear deformation shell theory and the corresponding motion equations are derived by Hamilton's principal. Differential quadrature (DQ) method and the Integral Quadrature (IQ) are applied for analogizing the motion equations and then the Newmark time integration scheme is used for obtaining the dynamic response of structure. The effects of different parameters such as boundary conditions, geometrical parameters, velocity and acceleration of moving load, CNT volume percent and distribution type are shown on the dynamic response of pipe. Results indicate that increasing CNTs leads to decrease in transient deflection of structure. In accelerated motion of the moving load, the maximum displacement is occurred later with respect to decelerated motion of moving load.
This paper describes controller development for a dynamic voltage compensator using a shunt diode converter and series inverter. The control system was designed using 1/4 period integrator and vector relationship between the supply voltage and load voltage. A simulation model and scaled hardware model were developed for analyzing performance of the controller and the whole system. Both results confirm that the dynamic compensator can restore the load voltage under the fault of the distribution system.

Performance-Based Plastic Design (PBPD) method has been recently developed to evaluate the behavior of structures in different performance levels. The PBPD method utilizes a base shear force and a lateral load pattern that are estimated based on energy and yielding mechanism concepts. Using of current lateral force pattern results in weak structural members in upper stories of a structure so that the values of the story drift in these stories are larger than the target drift, particularly in high-rise buildings. Therefore, such distribution requires modifications to overcome this drawback. This paper proposes a modified lateral load pattern for steel Eccentrically Braced Frames (EBFs) based on parametric study. In order to achieve the modified load pattern, a group of 26 EBFs has been analyzed under a set of 20 earthquake ground motions. Additionally, results of nonlinear dynamic analyses of EBFs have been post-processed by nonlinear regression analysis in order to derive the new load pattern. To prove the efficiency of present study, three EBFs as examples were designed by modified pattern and current PBPD distribution. Inelastic dynamic analyses results showed that the story drifts using modified lateral load pattern were well within the target values in comparison with current pattern in PBPD, particularly where the effect of the height is significant. The modified load pattern reduces the possibility of underdesigning in upper levels and overdesigning in lower levels of the frames.
A dynamic analytical solution for a simply supported, rectangular functionally graded plate with a porous middle layer under time-dependent load based on a refined third-order shear deformation theory with a cubic variation of in-plane displacements according to the thickness and linear/quadratic transverse displacement is presented. The solution achieved in the trigonometric series form and rests on the Green's function method. Two porosity types and their influence on material properties, and mechanical behavior are considered. The network of pores is assumed to be empty or filled with low-pressure air, and the material properties are calculated using the power-law distribution idealization. Numerical calculations have been carried out to demonstrate the accuracy of the kinematic model for the dynamic problem, the effect of porosity, thickness of porous layers, power-law index, and type of loading on the dynamic response of an imperfect functionally graded material plate.
The main purpose of this study is to discuss the design wind loads for the structural frames of single-layer latticed domes with long spans. First, wind pressures are measured simultaneously at many points on dome models in a wind tunnel. Then, the dynamic response of several models is analyzed in the time domain, using the pressure data obtained from the wind tunnel experiment. The nodal displacements and the resultant member stresses are computed at each time step. The results indicate that the dome's dynamic response is generally dominated by such vibration modes that contribute to the static response significantly. Furthermore, the dynamic response is found to be almost quasi-static. Then, a series of quasi-static analyses, in which the inertia and damping terms are neglected, is made for a wide range of the dome's geometry. Based on the results, a discussion is made of the design wind load. It is found that a gust effect factor approach can be used for the load estimation. Finally, an empirical formula for the gust effect factor and a simple model of the pressure coefficient distribution are provided.

In this paper, we propose a dynamic load distribution technique at the operating system level in mobile storage systems with a heterogeneous storage pair of a small form-factor and disk and a flash memory, which aims at saving energy consumption as well as enhancing I/O performance. Our proposed technique takes a combinatory approach of file placement and buffer cache management techniques to find how the load can be distributed in an energy and performance-aware way for a heterogeneous mobile storage air of a hard disk and a flash memory. We demonstrate that the proposed technique provides better experimental results with heterogeneous mobile storage devices compared with the existing techniques through extensive simulations.

The domestic needs for larger capability of power sources are increasing to cope with the expanding power load which results from the industrial developments & the progressed life style. In summer, the peak load is mainly due to the non-industrial reasons such as air-conditioners and other cooling equipments. To cover the concentrated peak load in stable, the power transmission lines should be more constructed and efficiently operated. The ampacity design of the underground cable system is generally following international standards such as IEC287, IEC60853 and JCS168 which regards the shape of 100% daily full power loads. It is not so efficient to neglect the real shapes of load curves generally below 60~70% of full load. The dynamic (real time) rating system tends to be used with the measured thermal parameters which make it possible to calculate the maximum ampacity within required periods. In this paper, the CTM(Conductor Temperature Monitoring) which is the base of dynamic rating systems for tunnel environment is proposed by a design of lumped thermal network ($\pi$-type thermal model) and distribution temperature sensor attached configuration, including the estimation results of its performances by load cycle test on 345kV single phase XLPE cable.
The dynamic bending response of single walled carbon nanotube reinforced composite (SWCNTRC) plates subjected to hygro-thermo-mechanical loading are investigated in this paper. The mechanical load is considered as wind pressure for dynamic bending responses of SWCNTRC plate. The dynamic version of the High Order shear deformation Theory (HSDT) for a composite plate with Matrix and SWCNTRC plate is first formulated. Distribution of fibers through the thickness of the SWCNTRC plate could be uniform or functionally graded (FG). The dynamic displacement response is predicted by using Nemarck integration method. The effective material properties of SWCNTRC are estimated by using micromechanics based modeling approach. The effect of different environmental condition, volume fraction of SWCNT, Width-to-thickness ratio, wind pressure, different SWCNTRC-FG plates, boundary condition, E1/E2 ratio, different temperature on dynamic displacement response is investigated. The dynamic displacement response is compared with the available literature and it shows good agreement.

This study applies dynamic deformation analysis to the rake face stress distribution of cemented carbide cut-off tools by turning, using a finite element method. The results are following: 1. The dynamic loaded state of a cut-off tool was very changeable for the first 0.6 seconds. Reaching the normal state, it became in active. 2. Chipping was influnced not only by the magnitude of stress but also by the abrupt change of tensile and compressive stresses. 3. The distribution chat of principal stress by dynamic load and the direction of resultant vector were almost constant regardless of load time.
Here, the dynamic instability characteristics of aero-thermo-mechanically stressed functionally graded plates are investigated using finite element procedure. Temperature field is assumed to be a uniform distribution over the plate surface and varied in thickness direction only. Material properties are assumed to be temperature dependent and graded in the thickness direction according to simple power law distribution. For the numerical illustrations, silicon nitride/stainless steel is considered as functionally graded material. The aerodynamic pressure is evaluated based on first-order high Mach number approximation to the linear potential flow theory. The boundaries of the instability region are obtained using the principle of Bolotin's method and are conveniently represented in the non-dimensional excitation frequency-load amplitude plane. The variation dynamic instability width is highlighted considering various parameters such as gradient index, temperature, aerodynamic and mechanical loads, thickness and aspect ratios, and boundary condition.
