  • This study explores the potential of applying RiC-CM to art archives for dynamic description. The research examines the development background and direction of RiC, as well as its conceptual model (Conceptual Model), and analyzes case studies from institutions that have established art archives. Finally, a dynamic description method was formulated using RiC-CM, and its applicability was evaluated. The findings confirm the potential of RiC-CM to represent the complex contexts and relationships within art archives, while also identifying certain limitations.

  • Recently, the capability of efficient access to the desired video content is of growing importance because more digital video data are available at an increasing rate. A video summary abstracting the gist from the entirety enables the efficient browsing as well as the fast skimming of the video contents. In this paper, we discuss a novel dynamic summarization method based on the detection of highlights which represent semantically significant content and the description scheme (DS) proposed to MPEG-7 aiming to provide summary description. The summary DS proposed to MPEG-7 allows for efficient navigation and browsing to the contents of interest through the functionalities of multi-level highlights, hierarchical browsing and user-customized summarization. In this paper, we also show the validation and the usefulness of the methodology for dynamic summarization and the summary DS in real applications with soccer video sequences.

  • Efficient service description and modeling methodologies are essential for dynamic service composition to provide autonomous services for users in ubiquitous computing environments. In our previous research, we proposed a 'u-service' ontology which is an abstract and structured concept for device operations in ubiquitous environments. One of the problems that we faced during the design process was that there are not enough standards to analyze the effectiveness of a u-service ontology. In this paper, we propose a quality evaluation model to facilitate the design process of a uservice ontology. We extract modeling goals and evaluation indicators based on the uservice description specification. We also present quality metrics to quantify each of the design properties. The experiment result of the proposed quality model shows that we can use it to analyze the design of u-service ontology from various angles. Also, it shows that the model can provide a guideline, and offer appropriate recommendations for improvements.

  • In peer-to-peer (P2P) on-demand streaming networks, the alleviation of server load depends on reciprocal stream sharing among peers. In general, on-demand video services enable clients to watch videos from beginning to end. As long as clients are able to buffer the initial part of the video they are watching, on-demand service can provide access to the video to the next clients who request to watch it. Therefore, the key challenge is how to keep the initial part of a video in a peer's buffer for as long as possible, and thus maximize the availability of a video for stream relay. In addition, to address the issues of delivering data on lossy network and providing scalable quality of services for clients, the adoption of multiple description coding (MDC) has been proven as a feasible resolution by much research work. In this paper, we propose a novel caching scheme for P2P on-demand streaming, called Dynamic Buffering. The proposed Dynamic Buffering relies on the feature of MDC to gradually reduce the number of cached descriptions held in a client's buffers, once the buffer is full. Preserving as many initial parts of descriptions in the buffer as possible, instead of losing them all at one time, effectively extends peers’ service time. In addition, this study proposes a description distribution balancing scheme to further improve the use of resources. Simulation experiments show that Dynamic Buffering can make efficient use of cache space, reduce server bandwidth consumption, and increase the number of peers being served.

  • Recently, QoS/QoE technology as a part of the HTTP-based adaptive streaming technology has attracted attention. In this paper, we find out HTTP-based adaptive and dynamic streaming technology. It is based on a dynamic adaptive streaming system over HTTP, which is designed and implemented. The system consist of conversion by the bit rate of MPEG2-TS files, division of segment, creation of MPD(Media Presentation Description) and bitrate's player through analysis of MPD File between servers and clients in network environments of dynamic and adaptive. This diverse network environments, continuous and smooth playback of video will be used in various multimedia fields.

  • Rigorous sensor and dynamic modeling techniques are required if spatial information is to be accurately extracted from video imagery. First, a mathematical model for an uncalibrated video camera and a description of a bundle adjustment with added parameters, for purposes of general block triangulation, is presented. This is followed by the application of invariance-based techniques, with constraints, to derive initial approximations for the camera parameters. Finally, dynamic modeling using the Kalman Filter is discussed. The results of various experiments with real video imagery, which apply the developed techniques, are given.

  • Frequency is the unique physical value for all the interconnected systems. Therefore. the load frequency control is in the responsibility of all members in the interconnection power unbalance in one of the interconnected system can cause the problems in others. In the following text a brief description and the role of frequency in an interconnected system will be presented. Following is the short description of the Balkan Interconnection (UCTE Second Synchronous Zone) with schematic diagram. A Power-Frequency (P-f) dynamic model of a control area wil1 be shown. Model gives the analytical solution for frequency change versus a time after outage of a generator in the power system. This model will be applied to the Balkan Interconnection and compared with numerical approach. Advantages and drawbacks of the analytical method will be discussed Purpose of using this model is to investigate if the pumps in reversible hydropower plant will be underfrequency shed after the outage of the biggest generator unit in the interconnection, according %o (n-1) security postulate.

  • In the archival field, the last decade has witnessed much discussion on archives' broad responsibilities for social memory. Considering that the social role of archives has stemmed from postmodern thinking suggests a paradigm shift from viewing archives as static recorded objects to viewing them as dynamic evidence of human memory. The modern archives and archivists are products of nineteenth-century positivism, limiting their function to archiving written documents within stable organizations. The new thoughts on the social role of archives provide a chance to realize that traditional archival practices have preserved only a sliver of organizational memory, thus ignoring fluid records of human activities and memory. Archival description is the primary method for users to access materials in archives. Thus, it can determine how archival materials will be used (or not used). The traditional archival description works as the representation of archival materials and is directly projected from the hierarchy of organizational documents. This paper argues that archivists will need to redefine archival description to be more sensitive to atypical types of archival materials from various cultural contexts. This paper surveys the postmodern approaches to archival concepts in relation to descriptive practices. It also examines some issues related to representing historically marginalized groups in archival description who were previously neglected in traditional archival practices.
