  • As the increased use of computer, wired/wireless/mobile Internet, security in using Internet becomes a more important problem. Thus, biometric technology using physical and behavior characteristics of a person is hot issue. Many different types of biometric technologies of a person such as fingerprint, face, iris, vein, DNA, brain wave, palm, voice, dynamic signature, etc. had already been studied but remained unsuccessful because they do not meet social demands. However, recently many of these technologies have been actively revived and researchers have developed new products on various commercial fields. Dynamic signature verification technology is to verify the signer by calculating his writing manner, speed, angle, and the number of strokes, order, the down/up/movement of pen when the signer input his signature with an electronic pen for his authentication. Then signature verification system collects mentioned above various feature information and compares it with the original one and simultaneously analyzes to decide whether signature is forgery or true. The prospect of signature verification technology is very promising and its use will be wide spread in terms of economy, security, practicality, stability and convenience.

  • The Dynamic Channel Assignment have a detect which satisfy lots of conditions. It makes system efficiency depreciate because the Dynamic Channel Assignment executes computation process of several steps that demands lots of time. In this paper, we have proposed a traffic control algorithm which makes simple computation process for improving the detect.

  • Broadband networks are designed to support a wide variety of services with different traffic characteristics and demands for Quality of Services. Bandwidth allocation methods can be classified into two major categories: static and dynamic. In static allocation, bandwidth is allocated only at call setup time and the allocated bandwidth is maintained during a session. In dynamic allocation, the allocated bandwidth is negotiated during a session. The purpose of this paper is to develop policies for deciding and for adjusting the amount of bandwidth requested for a best effort connection over such as ATM networks. This method is to develop such policies that a good trade off between utilization and latency using cell delay variation to the forecast the incoming traffic in the next period. The performances of the different polices are compared by simulations.

  • Water management is important in proton exchange membrane fuel cell because the water balance has a significant impact on the overall fuel cell system performance. In fuel cell vehicle, the vehicle's power demand is dynamic; therefore, the dynamic water management system is required. This present study proposes a method to control the humidity of the input air in cathode side of the fuel cell vehicle. The simulation using several driving cycles shows the proposed air humidification control obtains a relatively good result. The liquid saturation level is seen constant at the target level although still there are small deviations at driving cycles which having averagely high power demands.

  • In this paper, we propose a dynamic parallel channel allocation mechanism that dynamically controls total number of allocation channels of each subscriber to effectively service user bandwidth demands while high utilization and fairness are guaranteed in WDM based optical access networks. The logical performance gain of statistical multiplexing by dynamic channel allocation is validated with analytic method as well as simulations. We also introduce the adaptive padding scheme in order to efficiently distribute forwarded frames to aggregated multi-link channels which are formed by parallel channel allocation mechanism. The proposed scheme shows the performance enhancement by minimizing unnecessary padding size and the processing time.

  • Measuring dynamic properties of gravel-sized materials demands large specimens. Due to the difficulties in experiment as well as equipment, the dynamic properties of gravel-sized material has rarely been investigated. To realize free-free end condition more properly and stabilize specimen during testing with new specimen support system, a free-free resonant column testing device, which is capable of testing gravel-sized materials and constraining a specimen in free-free boundaries, is developed. We report the calibration of the equipment and preliminary testing results on Jumunjin sand. The testing data are compared with the previous data obtained from the existing fixed-free resonant column test.

  • This paper addresses the allocation planning of the storage location in a warehouse system that the dedicated storage method is used. In the discrete finite time period model, the demands for storage location of products are dynamic for time periods. The planning is to determine the reallocation time period and the storage location of the products in reallocation time period, which minimizes costs. The cost factors are the reallocation cost, the travel cost within warehouse and the surplus storage location cost. A model is formulated, and the property of optimal solution is characterized. The dynamic programming algorithm is developed, and a numerical example is shown.

  • The power of controlled generators in microgrids randomly fluctuate because of the stochastic volatility of the outputs of photovoltaic systems and wind turbines as well as the load demands. To address and dispatch these stochastic factors for daily operations, a dynamic economic dispatch model with the goal of minimizing the generation cost is established via chance-constrained programming. A Monte Carlo simulation combined with particle swarm optimization algorithm is employed to optimize the model. The simulation results show that both the objective function and constraint condition have been tightened and that the operation costs have increased. A higher stability of the system corresponds to the higher operation costs of controlled generators. These operation costs also increase along with the confidence levels for the objective function and constraints.

  • As the optical communication industry is developed, the demand of optical communication part is increasing. $ZrO_2$ ceramic ferrule is very important part which can determines the transmission efficiency and information quality to connect the optical fibers. In general $ZrO_2$ ceramic ferrule is manufactured by grinding process because the demands precision is very high. For the precision grinding machining, it is very important that the error of feeding system is improved. Therefore, we estimated the dynamic characteristics in feeding system of ultra precision co-axial grinding machining system. Then, we performed the machining characteristics experiment.

  • Structures are designed in such a way that they behave in a nonlinear manner when subject to strong ground motions. Energy concepts have been widely used to evaluate the structural performance for the last few decades. Energy based design can be expressed as the balance of energy input and the energy dissipation capacity of the structure. New research is needed for multi degree of freedom systems (MDOFs)-real structures- within the framework of the energy based design methodology. In this paper, energy parameters are evaluated for low-, medium- and high-rise steel special concentrically braced frames (SCBFs) in terms of total energy input and hysteretic energy. Nonlinear dynamic time history analyses are carried out to assess the variation of energy terms along the height of the frames. A seismic energy demand spectrum is developed and hysteretic energy distributions within the frames are presented.
