A series of dynamic and static tests were conducted to observe the actual responses of a 1:5 scale 3-story reinforced concrete(RC) frame which was designed only for gravity loads. One of the major objectives of these experiments is to provide the calibration to the available static and dynamic inelastic analysis techniques. In this study, the experimental results were simulated by using a nonlinear analysis program for reinforced concrete frame, IDARC-2D. The evaluation of the degree of the simulation leads to the conclusion that while the global behaviors such as story drifts and shears can be in general simulated with the limited accuracy in the dynamic nonlinear analysis, it is rather easy and simple to get the fairly high level of accuracy in the prediction of global and local behaviors in the static nonlinear analysis by using IDARC-2D.

The main purpose of this study is to obtain linear models for the design of automatic flight controller in order to operate the Light Sport Aircraft as unmanned air vehicle. Flight test equipments installed on the aircraft to acquire flight test data are described and maneuvers for practical speed calibration are introduced. Parameters for the linear models of lateral and longitudinal motion are estimated by the Output error method as well as trim data analysis using the flight test data. Simulated data using the estimated parameters is shown to agree well with the measurement data. Estimated parameters obtained for several flight conditions can be used to improve the aerodynamic database of the simulation program.
The air data measured from the static pressure, the dynamic pressure and etc. of an airplane is used for calculation of many flight parameters(altitude and airspeed and so on) and these values applied to flight safety and navigation flight. The pitot-static system of the development airplane is calibrated by finding of pitot-static system's error using tower fly-by, trailing cone method and etc. This paper is describing for the introduction of the trailing cone method and major items for test planning, preparation, operation and results for air data calibration flight test performed, considering efficiency and safety during KC-100 development project.
This paper presents the error parameter estimation technique for IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit) which is core sensor of INS(Inertial Navigation System) and verifies it via laboratory test. Firstly the error characteristic of gyroscope and accelerometer which is contained in IMU is examined and the error modelling is executed. The error of IMU can be divided into deterministic and random part, and the deterministic error can be divided into static and dynamic part. This paper consider the random part as constant. Secondly the error parameter estimation technique and following procedure for laboratory test is explained. Thirdly according to the test procedure the IMU test for static error is executed using 2-axis rate table and estimation result is presented with discussion about its validity.

Equivalent volume estimation of the coupler and two coupled microphones has a key role in standard microphone pressure calibration. The equivalent volume of the microphone is determined by the dynamic characteristics of the diaphragm system and front cavity. Therefore the modal parameters of diaphragm system - natural frequency and damping fatter - should be measured explicitly for the estimation of the equivalent volume. The diaphragm system is composed of the vibrating diaphragm, back slit behind diaphragm, pressure equalization vent, and front cavity which are acoustically coupled. In the measurement, the electrostatic actuator was used to excite the system with the swept sine, and the frequency response was obtained. The close actuator in front of the diaphragm must influence the radiation impedance of the system, and then the modal parameters. From the measured frequency response, the natural frequency and the damping factor could be estimated with the Complex exponential method based on the Prony model and the zero crossing real and imaginary plot.

Depth error correction effect for maladjusted stereo cameras with calibrated pixel distance parameter is presented. The camera calibration is a necessary procedure for stereo vision-based depth computation. Intra and extra parameters should be obtain to determine the relation between image and world coordination through experiment. One difficulty is in camera alignment for parallel installation: placing two CCD arrays in a plane. No effective methods for such alignment have been presented before. Some amount of depth error caused from such non-parallel installation of cameras is inevitable. If the pixel distance parameter which is one of intra parameter is calibrated with known points, such error can be compensated in some amount. Such error compensation effect with the calibrated pixel distance parameter is demonstrated with various experimental results.
Testing and validation processes are critical tasks in developing a new hardware platform based on a new technology. This paper describes a series of experiments to evaluate the performance of a newly developed MEMS-based wireless sensor node as part of a wireless sensor network (WSN). The sensor node consists of a sensor board with four accelerometers, a thermometer and filtering and digitization units, and a MICAz mote for control, local computation and communication. The experiments include calibration and linearity tests for all sensor channels on the sensor boards, dynamic range tests to evaluate their performance when subjected to varying excitation, noise characteristic tests to quantify the noise floor of the sensor board, and temperature tests to study the behavior of the sensors under changing temperature profiles. The paper also describes a large-scale deployment of the WSN on a long-span suspension bridge, which lasted over three months and continuously collected ambient vibration and temperature data on the bridge. Statistical modal properties of a bridge tower are presented and compared with similar estimates from a previous deployment of sensors on the bridge and finite element models.

Standards concerning the determination of positioning accuracy and repeatability of numerically controlled(NC) machine tools have been published relentlessly over the last 20 years. Since the publication in 1988 of the International Standard 230-2 there has been a pronounced move, both at national and international standards level, to embrace further test procedures for a complete machine tool performance assessment. For example, measurements of angular (pitch, roll, and yaw) and straightness errors along linear axes are now commonplace and complement the existing positioning accuracy and repeatablity tests. More recently the subject of circularity evalutaion has also gained considerable interest. Here dynamic tests, using a kinematic ballbar or circular masterpiece, give an instant overview of the contouring ability of the machine in two axes at specific feedrates. This information is extremely important in optimising machining accuracy. This paper describes moves to complete the machine calibration package in national and international standardis- ation for the assessment of machine tool performance.

In hydraulic control system turbine and gear motor type flowmeters are widely used to measure the flow rate under steady flow conditions. With the recent growth of interest in the measurement of instantaneous values of unsteady flow rate the test of the transient response of these flowmeters are in some significance. however an unsteady flow rate mea-surment and its calibration method with a fast response and a high accuracy have not beendeveloped. In this research particularly the dynamic characteristics of turbine and gear motor type flowmeters are investigated experimentally and simple mathematical models are proposed. The measured flow rate waveforms are compared with those by remote instan-taneous flow rate measurement method(RIFM) which has been developed by author and used for calibration As the result of frequency response test gain and phase between the measured flow rate waveforms by turbine type flowmeter and those estimated by RIFM are in good agreement up to 70Hz For the gear motor type flowmeter th simulated results by a math-ematical model proposed here agree well with the experiment nearly up to 100Hz. Also it if sound that the pressure drop across the flowmeter is increased in proportion to the frequency of the flow rate variation in a high frequency region of more than 100Hz. It can be explained that the dealy of gear motor type flowmeter in high frequency regionis mainly attributed to a first order delay consisting of the inertia of gears and internal leakage of the gear motor.
