A Study on the Spatial Structure of the Myonangjong through the Analysis on Poetry (시문을 통해 본 면앙정의 공간구조에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to find the architectural concepts of Song-Sun and the spatial structure of the Myonangjong through kasa, sijo, and Chinese poems. He considered his place as a ideal place to dwell a secluded life which is surrounded by mountains, and opened to a field in front. That places is connected with geomancy or Feng Sui, and he attached great importance to placeness of the Myonangjong as a pavilion. As his place was called 'tyoro samgan', his place should be simple, and that was harmonized with nature. He regarded his place as a part of the outside space and its surrounding nature. As the pen name of Myonangjong shows that his way of life is very pure so he need not disgrace against the earth and the sky, he considered his building as a place of embodying the Confucian great law of heaven and earth. Myonangjong has a concentric circle structure of the scenery which is viewed panoramically along with the visual direction.

Electron Tunneling Time through a Single Potential Barrier (하나의 전위장벽에 대한 전자의 터널링 시간)

  • The question-"How fast a electron tunnels a potential barrier?" looks like simple, but is controversy for more than 40 years. Because "tunneling" involves complicated internal processes and its definition is ambiguous. Recent experiments showed that the phase time is the best model of tunneling time among other times-for example, dwell time, Larmor clock time etc. In this paper, we simulated the tunneling time for Gaussian wave packet by program InterQuanta and compared with the phase time. In particular we focused on the effect of wave packet spreading in momentum space(or real space) which is not expressed by the phase time formula.

  • When operating Express and Standard trains, which run with two different scheduled time, in a single line with limited number of side tracks for overtaking standard trains, it is required to have various modeling methodologies and simulations in order to calculate an optimum headway to maximize the capacity of the line with the best scheduled time. Especially it is inevitable that following trains have to slow down or stop in the middle of their operations due to the preceding trains, in case it is inappropriate controlled about either in which station an overtaking should be taken or how long it should be. This study is to analyze TPS data which have been produced with a simulation program which the team has invented to optimize Express and Standard mixed traffic plan and to introduce an algorism which shows detected conflict data, calculates appropriate dwell time after getting overtaken and helps to decide stations for overtaking.

Observer-based Fault Tolerant Control for Constrained Switched Systems

  • An observer-based fault tolerant control (FTC) method is proposed for constrained switched systems (CSS) with input constraints. A family of Lyapunov-based bounded controllers are designed to ensure that, whenever actuator faults occur at the dwell time period of each continuous mode, the mode is always within its corresponding stability region. A set of switching laws are designed to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the overall CSS. The fixed stability regions on which the FTC method is based are also relaxed by the proposed variable stability regions. An example of CPU processing illustrates the effectiveness of proposed method.

Understanding the role of hydrogen on creep behaviour of Zircaloy-4 cladding tubes using nanoindentation

  • The present article investigates the influence of hydrogen concentration on the creep performance of cold-worked stress-relieved unirradiated Zircaloy-4 cladding tube using nanoindentation technique. The as-received Zircaloy-4 tube is hydrided to the concentrations of 600 ppm and 900 ppm using gaseous hydrogen charging method. Constant load indentation creep tests are performed for a dwell period of 600 s in the temperature range of 300℃-500 ℃ at 1000 μN, 2000 μN, and 3000 μN. The impact of hydrogen is evaluated in terms of steady state power law creep exponent and activation energy. The power law creep exponent decreases with increase in hydrogen concentration, however, it remains fairly constant with increase in temperature up to 500 ℃. Moreover, activation energy too decreases significantly with increase in hydrogen concentration. The mean stress exponent and activation energy are found to be 3.58 and 28.67 kJ/mol, respectively, for as-received sample.

Temperature-dependent tendency of target DNA translocation through a nanocapillary functionalized with probe DNA

  • We have measured DNA translocation through a nanocapillary functionalized with probe DNA. These DNA-functionalized nanocapillaries selectively facilitate the translocation of target ssDNAs that are complementary to the probe ssDNAs. In addition, translocation of the complementary target ssDNA exhibits two tendencies to translocation speed, such as fast and slow translocation, whereas that of non-complementary target ssDNA yields only one tendency, fast translocation. These observations suggest that the complementary and non-complementary target ssDNAs may be discriminated due to different interaction strengths between target and probe ssDNAs. The temperature dependence measurements of DNA translocation show that slow translocation events are ascribed to the complementary interaction between probe and target ssDNA. This confirms that their dwell time is dependent on the base-pair binding strength. These results demonstrate that mere single-base different target DNA can be selectively detectable by using the probe DNA-functionalized nanocapillaries.

Simulation Study of the Bus Progression Signal System ("버스연동신호의 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • Buses arrive at a traffic intersection later than passenger cars by the amount of dwell time at previous bus stops. This late arrival of buses affects the total passenger delay at intersections especially in the street carrying large bus volume. The bus progression signal system in which the signal offset is given in favor of bus platoons was applied in the case area of Kangnam street in Seoul, and various effects were analyzed using the TRANSYT-7F simulation model. It was observed that the total passenger delay can be reduced significantly if the bus progression signal system is applied, and the most effective bus priority treatment is proved to be the bus progression signal system installed with exclusive bus lanes.

  • This paper suggestes a SRM drive scheme which include power angle control like synchronous machine and a Phase Locked LooP(PLL) control. The power angle control scheme regulates instantly dwell angle as load torque variation, but this is some disadvantages which are losing of synchronism and hunting when load changes abruptly. To increasing synchronism, the Phase Locked Loop control scheme is adopted.

  • Silicon nitride-La-silicon oxynitride ceramics were fabricated by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). The density, crystalline phase and microstructure were compared with those obtained by Hot Pressing (HP). The full density was achieved within 40 min by spark plasma sintering at 1$650^{\circ}C$, whereas the same result was required by hot pressing with a dwell time of 500 min at higher temperature. There were some differences in the microstructure and second phases in the sintered ceramics, which are attributed to the rapid densification in the spark plasma sintering. The fine and acicular grain microstructure appeared in spark plasma sintering.

  • Vehicle platoons starting a stopline are dispersed while travelling along the street and the delay at the next intersection depends on the arrival pattern of dispersed traffic flow. In this paper, the platoon dispersion charactiristics of our country, especially the time gap between passenger cars and buses caused by the dwell time at bus stops, were investigated through travel time surveys. Based on the survey results, on improved analysis method of intersection delay is proposed.
