  • The over-preparation of blood for elective surgery causes some problems such as returning of blood, inefficient task and loss of reagents. In recent blood transfusion practice, there has been changing patterns of blood use in elective surgery as various side effects of transfusion have become known and operation techniques are developed. This study was performed to evaluate the optimal utilization of blood for various elective and/or emergency surgery. We surveyed the quantity of blood transmitted to wards, returned to blood bank, and the number of crossmatching test done for the elective surgery of the patients at the D. University Hospital, the tertiary teaching hospital from August 1, 2001 to October 31, 2001. Crossmatched to transfusion ratio (C/T ratio) was calculated, in which C means the unit of accomplished crossmatching test and T means the unit of transfused blood component. The unit of transfused blood was analysed in terms of issuing time, sex, age, clinical department, and blood component type. The usage of bloods for the emergency surgery was also analyzed. In our study, C/T ratio was highest on Monday (1.54) and Tuesday (1.53), and higher in female patients(1.54) than in male patients (1.32). No significant relationship was observed between age groups. Among clinical departments, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery showed the highest C/T ratio (1.54). From above results, we could be sure that the management of transfusion practice was relatively appropriate in recent years, although the entire introduction of type and screen (T&S) method was desirable. If the T&S method is performed, the C/T ratio would be almost 1.00 and it would also relieve the duty of blood bank.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to improve cell edge users' performance in HetNet (heterogeneous network) systems by cooperatively transmitting signals using remote radio heads (RRHs) located near coverage boundaries, referred to as edge RRHs. The proposed method locates the edge RRHs in specific locations of the cell boundary and provides an efficient operational strategy by adjusting the duty cycle of the edge RRHs and base stations. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated by experimental performance based on the system model parameters of the CoMP (coordinated multi-point transmission and reception) scenario, which is discussed in LTE-Advanced (Long Term Evolution - Advanced) standard contributions. When compared with conventional methods, utilization of edge RRHs is especially advantageous for the performance improvement of lower percentile users in terms of average throughput and effectively improves the fairness among users.

  • There are always possibilities for conflicts among individuals, between individuals and groups, and among groups because of the complex and diverse nature of contemporary society. Some form of bodyguard is required to protect oneself from this constant possibility of conflicts and thus the concept of security was developed to meet the needs of one's safety. Furthermore, the increase in the number of crime and intellectual crimes now threatens not only the people with power, fortune, reputation but also all citizens. Meeting the need for safety became a challenging task for the world and a security-related industry as well as security-related careers were born. Therefore, schools and security institutions must provide education and training to nurture morality and stable psychological condition for their students/trainees. In order to offer them such working and educational environments, utilizing the sixth-sense the five senses is recommended and it is called security psychology training. This study identifies the psychology, the five senses, and the sixth sense of bodyguards while on duty and explores the training and education contents to utilize the sixth sense.

  • Background: The health of the economically active population contributes to increased corporate productivity by reducing the productivity loss caused by disease and increasing job efficiency, which in turn is a national benefit. Since the economically active population is a concept encompassing workers and a source of economic development for a country, that population's health should be treated with importance not only from a personal standpoint but also at a national level. Methods: In this study, data of 11,007 adults aged 20 years and older who participate in economic activities were analyzed in the five-year Korea Health Panel Study from 2010 to 2014 including the number of dental visits and dental medical expenses. Results: Factors related to "gender," "education level," "age," "duty category," "income level," "employment type," "national health insurance," and "chronic disease status" of the economically active population are affected in relation to the number of visits and dental medical expenses. The number of dental visits increased with higher education levels (p<0.001), and the number of visits to the dentist increased with older age (p <0.001). Dental medical expenses were 91,806 Korean won (KRW) more for "white-collar workers" than for "blue-collar workers" (p<0.03), and 127,674 KRW more for "regular workers" than for "atypical workers" (p<0.02). Conclusion: When it is necessary to improve policies to enhance the efficiency of the distribution of health and medical resources in the overall balance of the dental health sector, we should try to identify various factors of oral health disorder due to income inequality among the classes according to the country's employment type in order to find ways to reduce the health gap among the social classes.

  • AVTE(Air Vehicle Test Equipment) is an equipment to inspect and check the status of on-board aircraft LRUs(Line Replacement Units) before and after flight for performing successful UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) missions. This paper suggests utilization of the AVTE as an operation support-equipment by implementing several critical functions for UAV-operation on the AVTE. The AVTE easily sets initialization(default) data and compensates for the installation and position errors of the LRUs which provide critical mission data and situation image with pilots without additional individual operation support-equipment. Major fault list and situation image data could be downloaded after flight using the AVTE in the event of UAV emergency situation or unusual occurrence on duty as well. We anticipate the suggested operational approach of the AVTE could dramatically reduce the cost and man power for design and manufacture of additional operation support equipment and effectively diminish workload of the operator.

Most of the nurses who answered the questions were educated computerizing(96%). The abilities of computer program utilities were the most in inputting data(74%). The program nurses wanted computerizing education was wordprocess, dealing internet and statistics. 2. As for applying parts of computer system in nursing, the most nurses were Dr's order check (96%), treatment activity(91.4%), medication(89.4%), lab. test(87 .4%), transfering department(85.4%), transfering room(79.5%), diet(71.8%), discharge (70.2%), Barcord Sticker(70.2%) , reservation(62.2%) in order that were all conected order system mutually to other part. It showed that computer system was not applied for treating the original nursing work such as nursing record (13%), duty scheduling(6.0%) , nursing process(4.6%) , Q.I(1.3%), nursing research(1.3%), education(1.3%), 3. As for the benefit when computer system is applied for, the most respondence was promptness of work and convenience(90.6%) , exactness of work (82.8%), offering information exactily and efficiently(36.3%), offering good quality of nursing (6.0%) in order. 4. The degree of contentment on computerizing in nursing practice showed average 3.24%. The best marking item is that they are eager to participate in the computer education. Next, the automatic output of label and giving the number automatically is to prevent loss and mentioned items of patient registration from being changed(3.95) and to prevent mistakes possibly happening because of doctor's difficult order(3.85). 5. The problems which may happen to in nurses' utilization of computerization for the nursing practice showed average 3.18. The most problem is that the practice may stop because of the problem of computer itself(3.67), and the next, the indication of act can be imperfect(3.66) , manual training may overlap because of incomplete computerization (3.60), practical education for the computerizing is lack(3.41), and the computer literate nurses are lack(3.40) . 6. Study subject's contentment by age was significant difference(F=3.10,P=0.0119). Study subject's contentment by job posision was significant difference(F=6.001P=0.0034) I will propose the following according to the above results. The domain of original nursing practice is urgernt. Manual and indication of act should be made before long in computer obstacle. Nursing department should support the nurses so that they could receive the education needed for the nurses themselves.
