Environment agriculture carried out from 1999 in Daeho reclaimed saline area, located in central east cost of Choongnam Korea, resulted in dramatic reduction of amount of nitrogen fertilizer and application times and amount of pesticides. The ecological status of Daeho reclaimed saline area was considered to still very sound from the results of ecological survey on flora and fauna. However, it was desirable to adapt precision agriculture for production of high eating quality of rice and preservation of Daeho ecosystem. Especially, precise application of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer was recommendable for prevention of water pollution in environment rice cultivation by duck or mud snail or crab. The bioefficacy of Scirpus maritimus and Echinochloa crus-galli in paddy field of environment rice cultivation by duck or mud snail or crab in Daeho reclaimed saline area was revealed very low. Therefor, it was concluded that the pre-measures of reduction of natural weed population were necessary for successful environment agriculture. The most desirable and ideal environmentally sound agriculture in Daeho reclaimed saline area was performance of crop rotation, introduction of legume crops and green manure crops, and also, simultaneous management of crop production and animal husbandry for smooth flow of energy cycle within the closed Daeho ecosystem.
This experiment was conducted to find out the effects of fermented compost using cattle manure and Autoclaved Lightweight Concrete(ALC) waste and duck raising in rice growing paddy fields on growth and quality of rice. By application of fermented compost of cattle manure incoporated ALC waste with amount of 2,000kg/10a, rice yield was reduced 2.9%, and 4.1% in 1,000kg/10a of compost with raising ducks plots as compared with application of standard level of chemical fertilizer. The ratio of head rice was slightly high in plots of compost application and white-belly kemeled rice was reduced by application of $1,500{\sim}2000kg/10a$ compost. The ratio of Mg/K was the highest in application of 1,000kg compost with raising duck. Efficiency of weed control by raising duck with free hexbiades was sufficient and their effects showed no difference between raising duck plots and herbidde plot.

A new pathogen was isolated from zoysiagrass-planted park of Jeju island in 2014. Symptoms appeared a type of irregular patches occurring brownish leaf blight, followed by stem and crown rot. The symptom was very similar to that of large patch caused by Rhizoctonia solani, a well-known devastating zoysiagrass disease. The isolate showed thin orange-colored mycelia and screlotia were formed on the medium based on cultural characteristics. The causal agent of the disease was finally identified as Waitea circinata by analysis of ribosomal DNA. On the inoculation test, Waitea circinatae showed strong pathogenicity to the zoysiagrass. The mycelia were obviously observed in the inoculated tissues. This is the first report of Waitea ring patch caused by Waitea circinata on zoysiagrass.
Zoysiagrass possessing the leaf yellowing with excessive tillers was first found in a golf course in Gyunggi province at last three to four years ago and since then have rapidly spread many golf courses in Korea. The symptom is very similar to that of yellow tuft or downy mildew, which is caused by Sclerophthora macrospora, on cool-season turfgrasses including Kentucky bluegrass and ryegrass. Microscopic study was firstly carried out to look over the presence of the pathogen in the infected leaf and stem tissues. Oospores and sporangia, reported as typical indicators of downy mildew, were obviously observed from the infected leaves. Using a set of primers based on the 18S ribosomal DNA from S. macrospora, the specific DNA fragment corresponding the gene was amplified. This study reveals that S. macrospora might be involved in spread of leaf yellowing of zoysiagrass with excessive tillers.

This study provides basic information on morphological characteristics of zoysia mite, Aceria zoysiae and symptom in zoysiagrass for turfgrass management in golf courses. Zoysiagrass mite distributed from Pocheon, Gyeonggii province to Jinju, Gyeongnam province and damaged turfgrasses from spring to fall. Damaged leaf by zoysiagrass mite was rolled unidirectionally and mite damaged leaves in the inside of rolled part. Leaves was turned to yellow and damaged area formed irregular yellow patch.
This study was performed to study characteristics of new zoysiagarass cultivar 'Green Ever' (Plant Variety Protection Application no. 2014 - 02). 'Green Ever' was developed by selection breeding among 100 native zoysiagrasses collected in South Korea. 'Green Ever' showed specific bands (1.48 kb with OPC14 and 1.05 kb with OPD5) which were distinct from 'Anyang Joonggi' or 'Dongrae Koryogi' in RAPD analysis. 'Green Ever' was classified as Z. matrella in morphological evaluations including plant height ($6.8{\pm}0.5cm$), leaf width ($2.0{\pm}0.1mm$), height of lowest leaf ($1.9{\pm}0.1cm$) and seed length ($3.0{\pm}0.1mm$), which was similar with morphological characteristics of 'Dongrae Koryogi'. Turf quality, shoot density and chlorophyll content of 'Green Ever' were higher than them of 'Anyang Joonggi' and 'Dongrae Koryogi' under intensive management such as fairway on golf course, especially shoot densities of 'Green Ever' were excellent higher than 'Anyang Joonggi' and 'Dongrae Koryogi' during experimental periods. It could be extensively used in fairway, teeing ground of golf courses and landscape garden after further study about various environmental adaptabilities such as winter kill, wear tolerance etc.
In the course of in vitro and in vivo screening for bioherbicidal agents, a hyphomycete fungus, Myrothecium sp. F0252 was selected as a candidate for the biocontrol of weeds. The isolate was identified as Myrothecium roridum Tode ex. Fries based on the morphological characteristics and 18S ribosomal DNA sequence analysis and registered as Myrothecium roridum F0252. In order to evaluate the in vitro effect of M. roridum F0252 on germination of ladino clover and white clover (Trifolium repens L.) seeds, spore solution of the fungus was employed in two concentrations, $6.5{\times}10^6$ and $2.5{\times}10^7$ spores per mL and then inoculated to the seeds. The fungal spores inhibited the seed germination, infected the seedlings, and caused an abnormal withering and inhibition of seedling growth. In addition, when the herbicidal activity of crude ethyl acetate extract from the liquid culture was assessed on a mini-plant, duck-weed (Lemna paucicostata (L.) Hegelm.), the extract showed high inhibitory effect at the level of $12.5{\mu}g$ per mL. On the other hand, in vivo herbicidal activity of M. roridum F0252 was evaluated by a whole plant spray method. M. roridum F0252 exhibited strong and broad-spectrum herbicidal activity. The herbicidal values ranged from 95-100% against 7 weeds, including Abutilon avicennae and Xanthium strumarium, and 70-80% against Digitaria sanguinalis and Sagittaria pygmaea. When the nutritional utilization (95 carbon sources) pattern of M. roridum F0252 was investigated, it varied with water activity ($a_w$) and temperature conditions, supplying good, basic information in regard to nutritional utilization for proper cultivation and formulation. Our results showed that M. roridum F0252 might be used as a potential biocontrol agent against weedy plants.
This study was investigated to evaluate the effects of biodiversity and pest insect occurrence by soil surface management methods such as green manure crop, grass planting and clean-tilled crops on persimmon orchards. Green manure crop pests was investigated 7 species including Hypera postica, Laodephax striatellus, Megoura crassicauda, Aphis craccivora, Nephotettix cincticeps, Liriomyza sp., black spot and the most dangerous pest was H. postica but it did not damaged persimmon tree. Amount of pests and natural enemies dwelling soil covering plant was not difference between organic farming (hairy vetch planting) and conventional farming (natural weed). Homona magnanima occurred three times a year but it rarely damaged leaf of persimmon. Total adult moth catched by pheromone trap was 1,261 organic farm, 1,003 conventional farm and 621 clean-tilled farm. Grapholita molesta occurred four times a year but it also rarely damaged twig of persimmon. Number of collected invertebrate species and individuals on soil sample was follow as : 838 individuals of 22 species at organic farm, 421 individuals of 17 species at conventional farm and 381 individuals of 15 species at clean-tilled farm. The richness index was lined up by organic farm 3.12> conventional farm 2.65> clean-tilled farm 2.36.
Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) was occurred at 8 areas including Naju, Suncheon, Younggwang, Youngam, and Shinan in Jeonnam province and the crops of Younggwang were severely damaged by TSWV. The hot pepper (Capsicum annuum), bell pepper (Capsicum annuum v ar. angulosum) and tomato (Solanum lycopersicon) in greenhouse and hot pepper in open field were infected by TSWV. Especially, hot pepper was severely damaged by TSWV infection. The survey data indicated that 1.1-30% in the nursery field at Naju, Suncheon, and Jangheung were infected by TSWV. Plants were infected by TSWV from early June to August. However, TSWV-infected seedlings from nursery fields showed the disease symptoms from May after transplanting. In pepper greenhouses, Frankliniella occidentalis was more dominant insect vector than Frankliniella intonsa. But in open field, the population of insect vector was opposed to greenhouse. In addition, the removal of weeds was able to delay the incidence of TSWV via side-window of greenhouse in Winter. Taken together, the control of weed and insect vector nearby side-window of greenhouse is important to prevent TSWV infection of plants.

We reviewed previous studies on well-performing aquaculture facilities, rearing environment, breeding management and feed supply to find the optimal conditions of the abalone aquaculture in marine cage. The size of marine cage varied depending on local area where the abalone farms are located. The small size cage ($2.4{\times}2.4{\times}2.5$ m) was used in Wando, Jindo and Hanam area where much of the provincial's abalone production is conducted and the middle size cage ($2.4{\times}4.8{\times}2.5$ m) was used in Huksando area. Big size group, above 2 cm in shell length, was produced from the end of October to the middle of November and small size group, below 2 cm in shell length, was produced from the end of March to the beginning of April next year in case of juvenile abalone of land production. The initial stocking density was 517-1,653 individuals/culture square meter($m^2$) in case of the big size group. The optimal rearing density was 326 and 263 individuals/culture square meter ($m^2$) after 1 year and 2 year's rearing, respectively. It is shown that relationship between individual shell length (x) and rearing density (y) is estimated to be $y=2,803.1x^{-1.4641}$ ($r^2=0.9687$). In addition, The obvious relationship was indicated between number of cage (x) and sea weed production facilities (y) as y=1.1542x+10.832 ($r^2=0.918$) in Wando, because sea mustard (Undaria pinnatifida) or japanese tangle (Laminaria japonica) was supplied as a feed for abalone culture. The general pattern of relationship between shell length (x) and shell weight (y) of cultured abalone is estimated to be $y=0.1443x^{2.9461}$ ($r^2=0.9997$).
