A Study on Acoustic and Vibratory Response of a MEMS Resonant Accelerometer (공진형 MEMS 가속도계의 음향가진 반응특성 연구)

  • It is necessary to study on acoustic and vibratory response of a MEMS resonant accelerometer before applying to military applications. In this paper, we analyze why the resonant accelerometer reacts to an acoustic wave and a high frequency vibration. And we describe experimental results on acoustic and vibratory response of the accelerometer. The accelerometer consists of a proof mass and a dual ended tuning fork. It is a differential resonant accelerometer with arranging a pair of accelerometers. The mode shape was analyzed to find out the input mode frequency by using a FEM simulation. Some experiments regarding the acoustic noise was carried out by using a tweeter and a microphone in the anechoic room. Results showed that the accelerometer reacted to the acoustic wave and vibration which had the input mode frequency as we had expected. We showed experimentally not only that the susceptibility of the accelerometer to an acoustic wave was 70 dB but also that the effectiveness of applying an acoustic absorber and a metal case was 20 dB, respectively. Also, we could minimize the vibratory response property of the accelerometer by installing a IMU with a silicone rubber mount pad.

A Study on the Serial-Parallel Resonant DC/DC Converter for Contactless Power Supply System (비접촉 전원장치에 적용한 직.병렬 공진 DC/DC 컨버터에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, Contactless Power Supply(CPS) system has been broadly studied as a power supply system for Flat Panel Display(FPD) material transfer equipments. In mass production line, CPS systems on material transfer equipment are applied only in the straight sections with single operating vehicle. The formal CPS system was not adequate for curved section nor multiple operating vehicles. Therefore, this paper presents CPS system that consists of straight and curved section with multiple operation vehicles. The circuit topology of CPS system consists of full bridge configured serial-parallel resonant DC/DC converter. The control method for CPS system consists of duty control method on the primary power supply system to maintain constant resonant current. And the secondary power supply systems of multiple vehicles are self controled to maintain constant output voltage. Practically, the test result of dual vehicles on straight and curved section of material transfer equipments were satisfactory, and proved it's applicability on commercial use.

Compact Dual-band Slot Antenna With Bent Slots (접힌 슬롯이 추가된 소형 이중 대역 슬롯 안테나)

  • In this paper, a design method for a compact dual-band slot antenna with bent slot is studied. Bent slots are added on the rectangular slot of the proposed antenna for dual-band operation. The rectangular slot is fed by a coaxial cable by placing a rectangular feeding patch inside the slot. When the bent slots are added onto the both corner of the upper side of the rectangular slot symmetrically, a new resonant frequency is created in low frequency because of the increasement of the slot length. A prototype of the proposed dual-band slot antenna operating at 2.45 GHz WLAN band and 4.50-8.30 GHz band including 5GHz WLAN band is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a dimension of 30 mm by 30 mm. Experiment results show that the antenna has a desired impedance characteristic with a frequency band of 2.40-2.49 GHz and 4.33-9.85 GHz for an input reflection coefficient < -10 dB.

Analysis of Wireless Signal Strength in Indoor Environment with Film-Type Dual-Band Frequency Selective Structure (필름형 이중 대역 주파수 선택 구조가 적용된 실내 환경의 무선신호강도 분석)

  • In this paper, we propose a film-type dual-band frequency selective structure for improving the wireless communication environment in a building. The proposed frequency-selective structure is a miniaturized structure that can control the resonant frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual band through simple design parameters. We fabricated the frequency-selective surface by screen printing using conductive ink on a thin transparent film and confirmed its performance by measurement. We analyzed the attenuation performance of the unnecessary signal from the outside when the frequency-selective structure designed using the software to analyze the propagation environment performance is applied to the building. To verify the analytical results, the signal strength of the indoor environment was measured by applying the frequency-selective film fabricated on the inner wall of the actual building. The measurement results show that the dual-band frequency-selective film has 29.4 dB and 15.94 dB attenuation performance in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, respectively.

Design of Ku-Band Tx/Rx Microstrip Patch Antenna for Satellite Communications (Ku-밴드 위성통신을 위한 송수신겸용 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, two types of $2\times2$ Rx/Tx microstrip patch antenna are proposed to implement Ku-band satellite communications. The single-fed dual resonance patch antenna as the first type derives perpendicular polarizations at two resonant frequencies from a single patch radiator, using aperture coupling via a bended single-feeding line and a cross-shaped slot. The double-fed dual resonance patch antenna as the second type implements dual resonance with mutually orthogonal polarizations by mixing the two feeding mechanisms of the microstrip line and the aperture coupling. Especially, in the double-fed dual resonance antenna case, air-gap is introduced to broaden the bandwidth. Through measurement, each of the two types of antenna was verified to function properly both Rx and Tx. The double-fed dual resonance antenna shows excellent performance in the bandwidth and the crosspolarization characteristics.

  • This paper presents a dual band loop-type ground antenna using lumped-elements that control the impedance bandwidth and resonant frequency. The dual-band operation of the proposed antenna is realized by inserting an additional resonated loop feed structure into the reference ground antenna. As the proper value of the capacitor and the inductor are chosen, the impedance bandwidth of our antenna with voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR) equal to 3 is 85 MHz and 725 MHz at the 2.45 and 5.5 GHz frequency band, respectively. Its validity is demonstrated via both the computed and measured results. Good antenna patterns and efficiencies are achieved at the dual frequency bands, as well as the physically small antenna element size($10{\times}5mm^2$).

  • Microwave dielectric properties of CaTiO3 and CaTiO3-TiO2 ceramics for the composition range between 40 and 50 mol% CaO in CaO-TiO2 binary system were investigated. CaTiO3 ceramics with50 mol% CaO showed the dielectric constant (e,) of 178, the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(c,) of+1000 ppm/'c and the qualify factor Q of 2760 (f0=2.7 GHz ). Dielectric constant and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of ceramics with dual phases of CaTiO3 and TiO2 decreased gradually from those of CaTiO3 as the CaO content decreased. Q value and density were found to have minimum at the composition of 47 mol% CaO. The degradation of Q value and density in dual phase ceramics seems to be caused by the large pores at grain boundaries and/or within grains remained after rapid growth of CaTiO3 grains as TiO2 Phase decreased.

  • In this study, we fabricated a micro $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ (PZT) film piezoelectric cantilever with a Si proof mass and dual beams through MEMS process. The size of the beam and the integrated Si proof mass were about $4,320{\mu}m{\times}290{\mu}m{\times}12{\mu}m$ and $1,380{\mu}m{\times}880{\mu}m{\times}450{\mu}m$ each. To reduce the air damping and have the larger displacement of dual beams was used for design. After mounting micro PZT film piezoelectric cantilever on shaker, we measured the resonance frequency and a output voltage while making resonant frequency changed. The resonant frequency and the highest average power of the cantilever device were 110.2 Hz and 0.36 ${\mu}W$ each, at 0.8 g acceleration and 23.7 $k{\Omega}$ load resistance, respectively.

Micromirrors Driven by Detached Piezoelectric Microactuators For Low-voltage and Wide-angle Rotation (저전압 대회전을 위한 분리된 압전 구동기에 의한 미소거울)

  • This paper presents a torsional micromirror detached from PZT actuators (TMD), whose rotational motion is achieved by push bars in the PZT actuators detached from the micromirror. The push bar mechanism is intended to reduce the bending, tensile and torsional constraints generated by the conventional bending bar mechanism, where the torsional micromirror is attached to the PZT actuators (TMA). We have designed, fabricated and tested prototypes of TMDs for single-axis and dual-axis rotation, respectively. The single-axis TMD generates the static rotational angle of $6.1^{\circ}$ at 16 VDC, which is 6 times larger than that of single-axis TMA, $0.9^{\circ}$. However, the rotational response curve of TMD shows hysteresis due to the static friction between the cover and the push bar in the PZT actuator. We have shown that 63.2% of the hysteresis is due to the static friction caused by the initial contact force of the PZT actuaor. Without the initial contact force, the rotational response curve of TMD shows linear voltage-angle characteristics. The dual-axis TMD generates the static rotational angles of $5.5^{\circ}$ and $4.7^{\circ}$ in x-axis and y-axis, respectively at 16 VDC. The measured resonant frequencies of dual-axis TMD are $2.1\pm0.1$ kHz in x-axis and $1.7\pm0.1$ kHz in y-axis. The dual-axis TMD shows stable operation without severe wear for 21.6 million cycles driven by 16 Vp-p sinusoidal wave signal at room temperature.

  • 본 논문은 중용량 및 대용량에 적합하며 다중 출력 전원시스템의 슬림화에 유리한 새로운 LLC 공진형 DC/DC 컨버터에 관한 것으로써, 별도의 Post-regulator 및 제어 IC의 추가없이 정밀한 이중출력이 가능한 새로운 방식의 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터는 두 개의 트랜스를 이용하여 각 출력 단에 대한 독립된 두 개의 공진탱크를 갖기 때문에 탱크 설계가 용이하고, 다중출력을 필요로 하는 전원시스템의 소형화 및 슬림화에 유리하다. 또한 두 개의 출력을 각각 주파수와 듀티로 제어함에 따라 Post-Regulator 가 필요 없으며, 이로 인해 기존 LLC 공진형 DC/DC 컨버터에 비해 효율 및 발열 특성이 매우 우수하며, 저가의 컨버터 구현이 가능하다. 최종적으로 제안된 컨버터의 우수성과 타당성 검증을 위해, 실제로 42"" FHD급 PDP 용 전원회로를 위한 시작품을 제작하여 고찰된 실험결과를 제시한다.
