  • In this paper, the omnidirectional circularly polarized(CP) antenna using arc-shaped mushroom structure with curved branch is proposed. To obtain a vertical polarization and an omnidirectional radiation pattern, the CP antenna uses zeroth-order resonance(ZOR) mode of composite right and left handed(CRLH) transmission line. The horizontal polarization is achieved by the curved branches. Also, the spacing between curved branch and arc-shaped mushroom structure gives the $90^{\circ}$ phase difference between vortical and horizontal polarization. The proposed antenna, therefore, has an omnidirectional CP radiation pattern In the azimuthal plane. The electrical size of the proposed antenna is reduced by 38%, compared with that of the previously presented omnidirectional CP antenna. In addition, the CP antenna is simply designed without $90^{\circ}$ phase shifter and dual feed line. The proposed antenna uses a Bazooka balun for good impedance matching and radiation pattern. To improve 3 dB axial ratio in XY plane, the designed antenna is optimized. After optimization, the measured 3 dB axial ratio in XY plane is observed in $86{\sim}282^{\circ}$.

  • In the present study, a more compact dual-band slot antenna is newly proposed for Wi-Fi application. The proposed antenna is composed of rectangular two stepped slot with open end which can generate standing wave resonance at dual frequency bands and L-type microstrip feed line. The measured impedance bandwidths are 50 MHz(2.412 ~ 2.470 GHz) at low frequency band and 452 MHz(5.451 ~ 5.903 GHz) at high frequency band respectiviely. Furthermore its size of 14 × 21 mm2 is reduced by 30% compared to the size of 20 × 21 mm2 of a conventional similar compact slot antenna. It has the omni-directional radiation pattern characteristics of a typical dipole antenna on the H-Plane, so it is suitable for commercial wireless network applications such as Wi-Fi.

  • A wideband dual-polarized antenna coupling cross resonator is proposed for LTE700/GSM850/GSM900 base stations. An additional resonance is introduced to obtain strong coupling between the dipole and resonator. Moreover, the input impedance of the proposed antenna is steadily close to $50{\Omega}$, which results in better impedance matching. Therefore, a wide bandwidth can be achieved with multiresonance. A prototype is fabricated to verify the proposed design. The measured results show that the antenna has a fractional bandwidth of 35.7% from 690 MHz to 990 MHz for ${\mid}S_{11}{\mid}$ < -15 dB. Stable radiation patterns as well as gain are also obtained over the entire operating band. Moreover, a five-element antenna array with an electrical downtilt of $0^{\circ}$to $14^{\circ}$ is developed for modern base station applications. Measurement shows that a wide impedance bandwidth of 34.7% (690 MHz to 980 MHz), stable HPBW (3-dB beamwidth) of $65{\pm}5^{\circ}$, and high gain of $13.8{\pm}0.6dBi$ are achieved with electrical downtilts of $0^{\circ}$, $7^{\circ}$, and $14^{\circ}$.

  • In this paper, we designed a printed square loop antenna for operating of PCS and IMT2000 band. The proposed antenna has omni-directional radiation patterns with broad bandwidth, similar to the conventional antenna, to easy feed on composing single planar. We obtain an ideal impedance matching and increase bandwidth. An antenna bandwidth is about 150MHz(1.74∼l.89〔GHz〕) at 1$^{st}$ resonance frequency and 290MHz(1.95∼2.24GHz) at 2$^{nd}$ resonance frequency on VSWR(equation omitted)1.5, and then we can obtain not only 1.73∼l.87 〔GHz〕 PCS band but also 1.92∼2.17 (GHz) IMT2000 band. band.

  • In this paper, we propose a new frequency reconfigurable dual-band antenna. By using an electronically compact eighth-mode substrate-integrated-waveguide(EMSIW) resonator, we have designed a compact antenna, which performs dual-band movement by additionally loading a complementary split ring resonator(CSRR) structure. The EMSIW and CSRR structures are designed to satisfy the bandwidths of 1.575 GHz(GPS) and 2.4 GHz(WLAN), respectively. We load the CSRR with a varactor diode to allow a narrow bandwidth and to enable the resonance frequency to continuously vary from 2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz. Thus, we realize a channel selection function that is used in the WLAN standards. Irrespective of how a varactor diode moves, the EMSIW independently resonates so that the antenna maintains a fixed frequency of the GPS bandwidth even at different voltages. Consequently, as the DC bias voltage changes from 11.4 V to 30 V, the resonance frequency of the WLAN bandwidth continuously changes between 2.38 GHz and 2.5 GHz, when the DC bias voltage changes from 11.4 V to 30 V. We observe that the simulated and the measured S-parameter values and radiation patterns are in good agreement with each other.

  • In this paper, Double rectangular patch with 4-bridges is investigated for solution of IEEE 802.11b/g(2.4GHz) and 802.11a(5.7GHz). Rectangular patch for 5.7GHz frequency band is printed on the PCB substrate and connected to another rectangular patch for 2.4GHz frequency band with 4-bridges to obtain dual band operation in a antenna element. The proposed antenna has a low profile and is fed by $50{\Omega}$ coaxial line. The dielectric constant of the designed antenna substrate is 3.27. Two rectangular patches have each resonance frequencies that are 2.4GHz and 5.7GHz. A dual-band characteristic is shown as connecting two rectangular patch using four bridges. Also, the proposed antenna is shown input return loss that is below -10dB at 2.4GHz and 5.7GHz of WLAN(Wireless LAN).

  • In this paper, a novel design method of an apertured coupled microstrip patch antenna with the single feeding structure is proposed for dual resonance frequencies with mutually perpendicular polarizations. The characteristics of this antenna are experimentally investigated. In order to achieve this goal, a new type of square patch with double notches is used as a radiator and the crossed slot and the bended mictrostrip feeder are adopted for the dual polarizations in the aperture-coupled structure. For the application of the proposed antenna, a Ku-band Tx/Rx $2\times$ subarray antenna is designed and manufactured. Also, the applicability of the antenna as a ground terminal is examined through performance analysis. According to the measurement, the gain of the antenna is 10dBi at the center frequencies of Tx and Rx, the side lobe level is lower than -13dB, and the cross polarization lebel is below 17 dB.

  • A microstrip antenna having a dual polarization and a smaller size than feed horn polarizer of F.R.R.S(Faraday Rotation Rotary Switch) is designed, in which GaAs MESFET switches are inserted for selective reception of RHCP or LHCP. For an accurate analysis of the resonance frequency, input impedance and radiation pattern of the circularly polarized microstrip antenna, finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is used. When the GaAs MESFET switch in the feeder is ON-stats, the truncated patch antenna has a gain of about 16.6dB including amplifier gain, while the switch is OFF-state, this has a isolation level of -24dB.
