In this paper an auto-switching dual-input energy harvesting circuit is proposed. Since the maximum power points of a thermoelectric generator(TEG) output and a vibration device(PEG) output is 1/2 of their open-circuit voltage, an identical MPPT controller can be used for both energy sources. The proposed circuit monitors the outputs of the TEG and PEG, and chooses the energy source generating a higher output using an auto-switching controller, and then harvests the maximum power from the selected device using a MPPT controller. The harvested energy is boosted through a charge pump and stored in a storage capacitor. The stored energy is provided to a load through a PMU(Power Management Unit). The proposed circuit is designed in a $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process and its functionality has been verified through extensive simulations. The designed chip occupies $1.4mm{\times}1.2mm$ including pads.

Effects of evaporation processes and a reduction annealing on thermoelectric properties of the Sb-Te thin films prepared by thermal evaporation have been investigated. The thin film evaporated by using the powders formed by crushing a $Sb_2Te_3$ ingot as an evaporation source exhibited a power factor of $2.71{\times}10^{-4}W/m-K^2$. The thin film processed by evaporation of the mixed powders of Sb and Te as an evaporation source showed a power factor of $0.12{\times}10^{-4}W/m-K^2$. The thin film fabricated by coevaporation of Sb and Te dual evaporation sources possessed a power factor of $0.73{\times}10^{-4}W/m-K^2$. With a reduction annealing at $300^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs, the power factors of the films evaporated by using the $Sb_2Te_3$ ingot-crushed powders and coevaporated with Sb and Te dual evaporation sources were remarkably improved to $24.1{\times}10^{-4}W/m-K^2$ and $40.2{\times}10^{-4}W/m-K^2$, respectively.

In clinical computed tomography (CT), regular quality assurance (QA) has been required. This study is to evaluate the MTF for analyzing the spatial resolution using AAPM phantom in CT exam. The dual source somatom definition flash (siemens healthcare, forchheim, Germany), the brilliance 64 (philips medical system Netherlands) and aquilion 64 (toshiba medical system, Japan) were used in this study. The quantitative evaluation was performed using the image J (wayne rasband national institutes of health, USA) and chart method which is measurement of modulation transfer function (MTF). In MTF evaluation, the spatial frequencies corresponding to the 50% MTF for the CT systems were 0.58, 0.28, and $0.59mm^{-1}$, respectively and the 10% MTF for the CT systems were 1.63, 0.89, and $1.21mm^{-1}$, respectively. This study could evaluate the characteristic of spatial resolution of MTF using chart method, suggesting the quantitative evaluation method using the data.
Cockroaches are a not only nuisance insects but also have medical importance as they mechanically propagate various pathogens. To date, baits have been widely suggested for use in cockroach control. In this study, we investigated the insecticidal effects of three Korean baits-Korea Combat Ultra Slim (K-CUS), Korea Combat Power (K-CP), and Korea Zaps Dual Bait (K-ZDB)-and three US baits-US Combat Source Kill Max (US-CSKM), US Hot Shot MaxAttrax Roach Bait (US-HSM), and US Raid Double Control Small Roach Bait (US-RDC)-on the German cockroach (Blattella germanica). Among the six baits, three (K-CUS, K-CP, and US-CSKM), the main active ingredients of fipronil, showed rapid and strong insecticidal efficacy. In addition, we compared the persistence of the insecticidal effects of K-CUS and K-CP 6 months and 12 months after initial opening. Insecticidal effects of both baits decreased over time, but the mortality rates of cockroaches exposed to 6-month- and 12-month-aged baits were over 90%, suggesting that these baits can maintain their insecticidal effect for at least one year after indoor installation.
The effect of Advanced Modeled Iterative Reconstruction (ADMIRE) on the coronary artery calcium (CAC) score of computed tomography was evaluated. Coronary artery calcium images (348 calcium, 6 groups, total of 2088 calcium) were acquired by 128-slice dual-source CT of 89 patients.Volume score and Agatston score were measured from images reconstructed with filtered back projection (FBP) and ADMIRE (1-5). The difference between FBP and ADMIRE Strength (1-5) was confirmed through the Kruskal-Wallis test, and the post-hoc analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney U test based on FBP. Both volume score and Agatston score showed statistically significant differences between FBP and ADMIRE (1-5) (P=0.015, P=0.0.38). As a result of post hoc analysis, the volume score decreased to 9.5% in ADMIRE 4 (Z=-2.359, P=0.018) and 13.2% in ADMIRE 5 (Z=-3.113, P=0.002) based on FBP. Agatston score decreased to 10.4% in ADMIRE 4 (Z=-2.051, P=0.040) and 14.0% in ADMIRE 5 (Z=-2.718, P=0.007) based on FBP. High ADMIRE strength affected the volume score and Agatston score due to the decrease in calcium area. In addition, the change in the Density factor due to the decrease in Maximum HU may affect the calculation of the Agatston score.
Objective: Third-generation dual-source computed tomography (3rd-DSCT) allows dynamic myocardial CT perfusion imaging (dynamic CTP) with a 10.5-cm z-axis coverage. Although the increased radiation exposure associated with the 50% wider scan range compared to second-generation DSCT (2nd-DSCT) may be suppressed by using a tube voltage of 70 kV, it remains unclear whether image quality and the ability to quantify myocardial blood flow (MBF) can be maintained under these conditions. This study aimed to compare the image quality, estimated MBF, and radiation dose of dynamic CTP between 2ndDSCT and 3rd-DSCT and to evaluate whether a 10.5-cm coverage is suitable for dynamic CTP. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 107 patients who underwent dynamic CTP using 2nd-DSCT at 80 kV (n = 54) or 3rd-DSCT at 70 kV (n = 53). Image quality, estimated MBF, radiation dose, and coverage of left ventricular (LV) myocardium were compared. Results: No significant differences were observed between 3rd-DSCT and 2nd-DSCT in contrast-to-noise ratio (37.4 ± 11.4 vs. 35.5 ± 11.2, p = 0.396). Effective radiation dose was lower with 3rd-DSCT (3.97 ± 0.92 mSv with a conversion factor of 0.017 mSv/mGy∙cm) compared to 2nd-DSCT (5.49 ± 1.36 mSv, p < 0.001). Incomplete coverage was more frequent with 2nd-DSCT than with 3rd-DSCT (1.9% [1/53] vs. 56% [30/54], p < 0.001). In propensity score-matched cohorts, MBF was comparable between 3rd-DSCT and 2nd-DSCT in non-ischemic (146.2 ± 26.5 vs. 157.5 ± 34.9 mL/min/100 g, p = 0.137) as well as ischemic myocardium (92.7 ± 21.1 vs. 90.9 ± 29.7 mL/min/100 g, p = 0.876). Conclusion: The radiation increase inherent to the widened z-axis coverage in 3rd-DSCT can be balanced by using a tube voltage of 70 kV without compromising image quality or MBF quantification. In dynamic CTP, a z-axis coverage of 10.5 cm is sufficient to achieve complete coverage of the LV myocardium in most patients.
Position information of radiation interactions in detection material is essential to reconstruct a radiation source image. With most position sensing techniques, the position information of a single interaction inside the detectors can be precisely obtained. Each interaction position of multi-scattering inside scintillators, however, can not be individually measured and only the average of the scattering positions can be obtained, which causes the uncertainty in the measured interaction position. In this paper, the position uncertainties due to the multi-scattering were calculated by Monte Carlo simulation. The simulation model was a 50 by 50 by 5 mm $LaCl_3$(Ce) scintillator(pixel size is 2 by 2 by 5mm) which was utilized for the dual collimation camera. The dual collimation camera uses the information from both photoelectric effect and Compton scattering, and therefore, position uncertainties for both partial and full energy deposition of radiation interactions are calculated. In the case of partial energy deposition(PED), the standard deviations of positions are less than $1{\sim}2mm$, which means the uncertainty caused by multi-scattering is not significant. Because the effect of the multi-scattering with PED is insignificant, the multi-scattering has little effect on the performance of Compton imaging of dual collimation camera. In the case of full energy deposition(FED), however, the standard deviation of the positions is about twice that of the pixel size of the 1stdetector, except for 122keV incident radiations. Therefore, the standard deviations caused by multi-scatterings should be considered in the design of the coded mask of the dual collimation camera to avoid artifact on the reconstructed image. The position uncertainties of the FEDs are much larger than those of the PEDs for all radiation energies and the ratio of PEDs to FEDs increases when the incident radiation energy increases. The position uncertainties of both PEDs and FEDs are dependent on the incident radiation energy.

This paper proposed the dual-loops multiphase DLL based mixed VCO/VCDL for a high frequency phase noise suppression of the input clock and the multiple frequencies generation with a precise duty cycle. In the proposed architecture, the dual-loops DLL uses the dual input differential buffer based nMOS source-coupled pairs at the input stage of the mixed VCO/VCDL. This can easily convert the input and output phase transfer of the conventional DLL with bypass pass filter characteristic to the input and output phase transfer of PLL with low pass filter characteristic for the high frequency input phase noise suppression. Also, the proposed DLL can correct the duty-cycle error of multiple frequencies by using only the duty-cycle correction circuits and the phase tracking loop without additional correction controlled loop. At the simulation result with $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, the output phase noise of the proposed DLL is improved under -13dB for 1GHz input clock with 800MHz input phase noise. Also, at 1GHz operating frequency with 40%~60% duty-cycle error, the duty-cycle error of the multiple frequencies is corrected under $50{\pm}1%$ at 2GHz the input clock.
Korea expects a shortage in storage capacity for spent fuels at reactor sites. Therefore, a need for more metal and/or concrete casks for storage systems is anticipated for either the reactor site or away from the reactor for interim storage. For the purpose of interim storage and transportation, a dual purpose metal cask that can load 21 spent fuel assemblies is being developed by Korea Radioactive Waste Management Corporation (KRMC) in Korea. At first the gamma and neutron flux for the design basis fuel were determined assuming in-core environment (the temperature, pressure, etc. of the moderator, boron, cladding, $UO_2$ pellets) in which the design basis fuel is loaded, as input data. The evaluation simulated burnup up to 45,000 MWD/MTU and decay during ten years of cooling using the SAS2H/OGIGEN-S module of the SCALE5.1 system. The results from the source term evaluation were used as input data for the final shielding evaluation utilizing the MCNP Code, which yielded the effective dose rate. The design of the cask is based on the safety requirements for normal storage conditions under 10 CFR Part 72. A radiation shielding analysis of the metal storage cask optimized for loading 21 design basis fuels was performed for two cases; one for a single cask and the other for a $2{\times}10$ cask array. For the single cask, dose rates at the external surface of the metal cask, 1m and 2m away from the cask surface, were evaluated. For the $2{\times}10$ cask array, dose rates at the center point of the array and at the center of the casks' height were evaluated. The results of the shielding analysis for the single cask show that dose rates were considerably higher at the lower side (from the bottom of the cask to the bottom of the neutron shielding) of the cask, at over 2mSv/hr at the external surface of the cask. However, this is not considered to be a significant issue since additional shielding will be installed at the storage facility. The shielding analysis results for the $2{\times}10$ cask array showed exponential decrease with distance off the sources. The controlled area boundary was calculated to be approximately 280m from the array, with a dose rate of 25mrem/yr. Actual dose rates within the controlled area boundary will be lower than 25mrem/yr, due to the decay of radioactivity of spent fuel in storage.
The KVN(Korean VLBI Network)-style simultaneous multi-frequency receiving mode is demonstrated to be promising for mm-VLBI observations. Recently, other Very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) facilities all over the globe start to implement compatible optics systems. Simultaneous dual/multi-frequency VLBI observations at mm wavelengths with international baselines are thus possible. In this paper, we present the results from the first successful simultaneous 22/43 GHz dual-frequency observation with KaVA(KVN and VERA array), including images and astrometric results. Our analysis shows that the newly implemented simultaneous receiving system has brought a significant extension of the coherence time of the 43 GHz visibility phases along the international baselines. The astrometric results obtained with KaVA are consistent with those obtained with the independent analysis of the KVN data. Our results thus confirm the good performance of the simultaneous receiving systems for the nonKVN stations. Future simultaneous observations with more global stations bring even higher sensitivity and micro-arcsecond level astrometric measurements of the targets.
