  • Objectives: To appraise the effectiveness of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in the management of established dry socket in terms of pain, inflammation, and wound healing. Materials and Methods: Two hundred patients with established alveolar osteitis were studied to determine the efficacy of PRF and zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) for pain control, inflammation reduction, and wound healing. Patients were randomly allocated to Group A (PRF) or Group B (ZOE). Patients were examined on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 14th postoperative day and evaluated for pain using visual analogue scale scores, inflammation with a gingival index score, and wound healing through a determination of the number of bony walls exposed. Results: Group A showed better results in terms of pain remission, control of inflammation, and wound healing compared to Group B. Results between groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: PRF is a better alternative than ZOE for the effective management of alveolar osteitis.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the availabilities of radiographic technics as diagnostic methods to evaluate maxillary sinus in dental clinic. For the morphologic study of maxillary sinus, 20 dry maxillas were used and intraoral standard views, orthopantomograms, and skull P-A views were taken. For measuring the vertical image magnification rates, 5 sites in maxillary molar regions of 5 dry mandibles were selected radndomly and 25 wires of the determined sizes for selected portions were attached to the sites, after then, intraoral radiograms with bisecting technic and orthopantomograms were taken. The acquired results were as follows: 1. The anterior extension of the maxillary sinus on orthopantomogram was the distal side of the canine in 45.45% of subjects, the mesial side of the canine in 27.27%, the lateral incisor in 9.09%, the mesial side of the 1st premolar in 9.09%, and the mesial side of the 2nd pre-molar in 9.09%. 2. The positional relationship between the floor of maxillary sinus and the apex of alveolar socket revealed superimposed type in 58.3% of subjects, approached type in 33.3%, and separated type in 8.4%. 3. The morphology of inferior border of maxillary sinus was simple V or U shape in edentulous stage and V or wide U shape in alveolar socket stage. 4. The vertical image length on intraoral film taken by bisecting technic was magnified by 27.23% on the average and the length on orthopantomogram by 12.35%. 5. The inferior borders of maxillary sinus coinciding with each of the areas bearing the anterior and the posterior teeth on skull P-A view were determined.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to compare the accuracy of 3-dimensional(3D) printed models derived from multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) systems with different fields of view (FOVs). Materials and Methods: Five human dry mandibles were used to assess the accuracy of reconstructions of anatomical landmarks, bone defects, and intra-socket dimensions by 3D printers. The measurements were made on dry mandibles using a digital caliper (gold standard). The mandibles then underwent MDCT imaging. In addition, CBCT images were obtained using Cranex 3D and NewTom 3G scanners with 2 different FOVs. The images were transferred to two 3D printers, and the digital light processing (DLP) and fused deposition modeling (FDM) techniques were used to fabricate the 3D models, respectively. The same measurements were also made on the fabricated prototypes. The values measured on the 3D models were compared with the actual values, and the differences were analyzed using the paired t-test. Results: The landmarks measured on prototypes fabricated using the FDM and DLP techniques based on all 4 imaging systems showed differences from the gold standard. No significant differences were noted between the FDM and DLP techniques. Conclusion: The 3D printers were reliable systems for maxillofacial reconstruction. In this study, scanners with smaller voxels had the highest precision, and the DLP printer showed higher accuracy in reconstructing the maxillofacial landmarks. It seemed that 3D reconstructions of the anterior region were overestimated, while the reconstructions of intra-socket dimensions and implant holes were slightly underestimated.

  • In this paper, we investigates accident actual conditions of electric outlet for low voltage that is used into interior and clear hazardous factor. Electric outlet for general can know that melting of socket-outlet and carbonization of support occur if a contaminant becomes burnout because is flowed in. Existent outlet consists of structure that special quality is good but inflow of a contaminant is easy when is dry. But, waterproof outlet passes silicon layer and have connected structure plug. As developed outlet covers whole surface and back side, interval was shut. Safety pin of developed outlet was established to operate to vertical direction. Therefore, we estimate that contribute on prevention of electrical disaster if use developed outlet to a restaurant, a laundry, a laboratory etc.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the availabilities of radiographic technics as diagnostic method related to mandibular canal in dental clinic. For this study 12 dry mandibles were used and 12 orthopantomograms were taken for measuring the gonial angle and the angle of mandibular canal to inferior border of mandible. 12 sites located between the 1st premolar to the 3rd molar region of 3dry mandibles were selected randomly, for measuring the vertical image magnification rates on three films; intraoral film, orthopantomogram, and computed tomogram, respectively and the thickness of cortical bone, and for observing bucco-lingually and supero-inferiorly location of the mandibular canal. The acquired results were as follows: 1. The means of the gonial angle and the angle of mandibular canal to inferior border of mandible were 123.9° and 143.5° And the two angles of dry mandible in alveolar crest stage were greater than in alveolar socket stage. 2. The vertical image length on intraoral film by paralleling technic was magnified by 3.07% on the average, the length on orthopantomogram by 18.49%, and the length on computed tomogram by 0.27%. 3. Observation of the bucco-lingually positional relationship of the mandibular canal was impossible by occlusal projection with the cross section technic and intraoral standard projection with the Clack's rule, however, possible by computed tomogram. 4. The thickness of the cortical bone of mandible was thickest in inferior border, and thicker by 6.59% at buccal side than at lingual side.

  • Purpose : This study was performed to determine the proper reference line for taking axial computed tomograms from which the good cross-sectional views can be reformatted by multiplanar reconstruction. Methods : Three dry mandibles with implanted gutta percha cones in the extracted socket were scanned axially according to 6 reference lines of 2 mandibular positions with computed tomogram Hitachi W550. The accuracy of measurements of the lengths of implanted gutta perch a cones in the each cross-sectional view reformatted from axial computed tomogram by multiplanar reconstruction was evaluated. Results: The difference between the measurements and the real length of implant was smallest in the bucco-lingual views reformatted from the axial views scanned according to the reference line of group V-a. The smaller the angle difference between reference line and occlusal line was, the smaller the difference between the measurements in the bucco-lingual views reformatted from axial views and the real length of implant. The majority of measured widths of implants in the bucco-lingually reformatted views were larger than the actual values. Conclusions : When the mandible is inclined within the limitation of gantry angle and scanned with the reference line coincident with occlusal plane, the bucco-lingual view can be reformatted without deformation of images from the axially scanned images.
