The purpose of this study is to provide information about domestic living of Korean immigrants in Australia and Canada who have the same cultural background for comparative study. For this, usage of domestic space and living style in housing of 52 Korean households in Melbourne of Australia and 32 Korean households in the region of Waterloo of Canada were analyzed. Ethnographic research with questionnaire were used. Results of the research were as follows. 1. Korean immigrants in each countries were living in houses which was built by company of Australia and Canada. 44.2% of Korean immigrants in Australia were using L+D K and 53.1% of Korean immigrants in Canada were using L D K. 2. Laundry was indispensable for Korean immigrants in both countries and they all wanted to use the laundry as a utility room which could dry, ironing and so on. 3. Drain hole on the floor of the bathroom was not indispensable for most Korean immigrants in both countries for hygienic reason. 4. Korean immigrants in both countries were ironing in master bedroom and they all wanted to separate it from there through renovation and extension and so on. 5. Korean immigrants in Canada were more active to use the formal lounge which has been planned as a traditional element of western house. 6. The seating style of Korean immigrants in both countries belong to chair-seating style mostly. But it was clear that they were making Kimchi with floor seating style in both countries. 7. A level of satisfaction about using carpet was not high for Korean immigrants in both countries cause of uneasiness to clean and it was considered to relate to the floor seating style of them. 8. Almost Korean immigrants were took off the shoes inside of the house and they had shoes cabinet beside the entrance or basement usually. 9. The most popular heating system was ducted heating in both countries. The level of satisfaction about this was different for Korean immigrants in Australia and Canada but most desirable heating system was Ondol for them in both countries commonly.
In this paper, the properties of an expansive agent (CaO-CaS $O_4$) for dry shrinkage compensation were investigated by a series of experimental program, which might be used at On-Dol heating system as mortar type. The expansion principle of the CaO-CaS $O_4$ was mainly verified. As a result of this study, the correlation between the content of the expansive agent and the compressive strength was obtained in the form of exponential function(Y = A $e^{-x}$), showing that as the content of expansive agent increased as the expansion performance with the compressive strength increased by only a certain amount. Also, as a results of the analysis of a correlation between the expansive performance and the chemical properties which generally accompanied a part of quality management in manufacturing the expensive cement, the expansive performance was relative to only the contents of the F-CaO among chemical properties(Blaine, +44$\mu\textrm{m}$R, F-CaO, S $O_3$,L.O.I). And it was clarified that the results were relative to the second order function, showing that if the contents of the F-CaO increased the expansive performance Increased.d.

This study aimed for the scientific approach of Korean traditional house, so called Hanok, by analyses of structural elements and thermal environmental performance. Hanok is a very unique vernacular architectural style of the Middle East Asia that fits with climate conditions of the Korean Peninsular, designed to withstand high temperature and humidity in summer and cold and dry in winter seasons. In order to evaluate thermal environment of Hanok, its sectional structure such as floor, wall, roof structure and Ondol which is Korean traditional floor heating system, was built in 3D, as well as heat transfer mechanism of its composing elements was analyzed through 3 dimensional steady state analysis. The results of the thermal environmental performance of Hanok will be used as a basic datum of design guidelines for accomplishing ecologic housing fitted with local climate.

Five zero energy house models developed in Korea for the purpose of the energy performance were compared and analyzed in the study. The standard passive house model applying common technology and efficient energy performance elements was proposed. Standard passive house 5 models have been developed commonly aiming at 100% energy saving, applying high-performance and high-efficiency exterior thermal insulation, using 3 low-e coated window system, and targeting average 0.65 ACH to enhance privacy. Energy recovery ventilators and dry and cold radiant heating floor has been partially applied. Eco-design techniques such as the awning device, heat insulating door, using natural light have been used. Solar and geothermal systems as the application of renewable energy technologies have been commonly applied. And fuel cells were applied to a partial model. The standard model based on common technical elements and average performance of each element and obtained from five model analysis has been proposed in the study.

This study is conducted to verify the seismic reinforcement effects of internally inserted buckling-restrained braces supported laterally by buckling-restrained rings for the seismic reinforcement of existing reinforced concrete buildings with non-seismic details. First, to evaluate the performance of KDS, the hysteretic characteristics of buckling-restrained braces are verified, and it is discovered that they satisfy the conformance criteria of the displacement-dependent damping device. Three full-scale, two-story reinforced concrete framework specimens are prepared to verify the seismic reinforcement effects, and the proposed buckling-restrained braces are bolstered with single diagonal and V-shaped braces to be compared with non-reinforced specimens. By performing a comparison with non-reinforced specimens that present intensive shear cracks at the bottom of first-floor columns, it is revealed that the maximum load and energy dissipation of specimens reinforced with the proposed buckling restrained braces, in which the structural damage extends evenly throughout the system, are approximately 4 and 6.2 times higher, respectively, which proves the effectiveness of the proposed seismic reinforcement method.

The particular thing of Koreans was that they were using the main bedroom with multiple purpose. 4. The seating style of Koreans and Australians belong to chair-seating style generally. But Koreans were using floor seating style in making bed for the guest and making Kimchi. Koreans and Australians were using mixed style of floor seating and chair-seating in relaxing time with watching TV, treating guest or so. 5. Koreans were not satisfied with using carpet cause of dust but Australians were satisfied with the carpet cause of warmness. 6. Most Koreans and Australians were take off shoes inside of the house. Koreans were organize shoes around the front door of the house usually and Australians were organize shoes in bedroom usually. 7. The most popular heating system was ducted heating for both. The level of satisfaction about ducted heating was low for Koreans because they though that it could contaminate air. Australians were satisfied with ducted heating because they though that this one was fit on the weather of this area. 8. Living room was the most important one for Koreans and Australians and they also thought it should be decorated well for entertaining guests. Most Koreans were estimate that the brightness of the light of the house was not enough but it was estimated to moderate for Australians on the contrary.

However, they sometimes made a bed for guests on the floor and watched TV and treated guests with both chair seating style and floor seating style. 5. Australians were satisfied with using carpet presumably for its warmth.6. Many Australians took off their shoes inside of the house for hygienic reason. Most people organized the shoes in the cabinet of the bedroom. 7. The most popular heating system was ducted heating for Australians and they were very satisfied with it because it was suitable for the weather in Melbourne. 8. The living room was the most important one for Australian families and they thought that it should be decorated well for entertaining guests. It was also considered that brightness of the light was enough for most Australians.
This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of sanitation management within school foodservice facilities and utilities in Gyeongbuk province. Data collection was carried out through surveys given to 200 school dietitians from the province. A total of 108 were usable, resulting in a 54.0% response rate. Statistical analyses were done using the SAS package program (version 8.2 for Windows). Of the study population, 58.3% had more than 10 years of work experience, and 64.8% worked in elementary schools. With regard to the style of foodservice system, 47.2% were urban and 46.3% were rural. Also, 89.8% of the school foodservices provided meals once a day. The performance of the sanitation management items of the facilities and utilities used to provide school foodservice was evaluated using a 5-point Likert scale. The average score for the 25 items was 3.35 points. 'HVAC system installed in foodservice establishment' had the lowest average score at 2.20 points. Whereas 'provide adequate storage capacity to allow refrigerating and freezing and an adequate thermometer is installed and temperatures monitored' had the highest average score at 4.19 points. Nine out of the 25 items were lower than the average score. The performance scores of high schools were significantly higher than those of elementary schools or middle schools for 'window materials are provided that are not liable to break' (p<0.001). The performance scores for urban style foodservices were significantly lower than for rural foodservices for 'floor of kitchen is constructed to maintain a dry system' (p<0.05). In response to questions on kitchen utensils and equipment, significant differences were shown according to the number of meals served per day in 21 out of 56 items, and the style of foodservice system showed significant differences in 14 of the 56 items. To provide data necessary for effectively applying the HACCP system by understanding the current application condition of HACCP system and satisfaction level of the dietician in elementary schools, a mail-in survey was conducted on dieticians serving for 227 elementary schools applying HACCP system in Kyungsangbuk-Do since November 1, 2001 to December 20, 2001. 83.5% of the subjected schools were conducting more than 50% of HACCP cooking process management, and the level of cooking process management displayed significant relevance according to the number of dieticians serving the school meals. The area that was not well conducted in the field of HACCP system was proven to be water examination(94.0%), inspection on self-sanitation of cooks prior to cooking(90.6%), and maintenance of dry kitchen floor(l4.8%). The reason why the above areas are not well conducted was because of lack of time due to over workloads. Subjective dieticians had pointed out improvement of sanitary concept(58.1%) and improvement of self-sanitation (28.8%) as benefits of applying HACCP. 21.2% of the subjective dieticians were satisfied with application HACCP and 35.2% were dissatisfied with applying HACCP. In case of which the duration of applying the HACCP was longer than one year and in case of higher rate of HACCP cooking process management and longer work experience of the dieticians, the level of satisfaction was proven to be significantly higher. The most difficult things to follow in important management categories according to the features of dietitian work and work experience were food distribution of CCP7 step and maintenance of optimum temperature(70.7%). Subjective dieticians had pointed out insufficient facility or environment and lack of inspection equipments in order regarding problems of applying HACCP. Also in the level of necessity of improvement categories in applying HACCP, dieticians had replied that facility and equipment improvement was mostly needed. Due to the induction of HACCP system in school meals, comparatively well cooking process management is being conducted, and I believe it could contribute in securing safety and quality improvement of school meal by improving the sanitation concept of the dieticians. However, the satisfaction level of dieticians are rather low and there are many difficulties in maintaining optimum temperature in the process of food distribution and transportation process. Also, lack of facilities and environment, lack of inspection equipments and etc are pointed out as problems of inducing HACCP. Thus, to settle HACCP system, it is believed that brave investment must be preceded.
