  • Korean multi-propulsion system consists of a synchronous alternator driven by a gas turbine driving synchronous alternator coupled to a rectifier - DC link - DC/DC converter and traction system based on modification of the G7 high-speed train. The simulation modules include turbine engine system, alternator, rectifier, DC/DC converter and power management module. Simulation for the multi-propulsion system such as a modular is presented in order to confirm the system stability for loads with uncertain input impedances and control loop speeds. This paper deals with various simulation modules with a specific control loop to help the development of the real lame-scaled system.

Study for improve the tracing stopping ratio of ATO train through Brake maintenance System (ATO 차량의 제동장치 유지보수 시스템 개발을 통한 정위치 정차율 향상 방안 연구)

  • This paper describes the method of how to improve the probability of the tracing stopping ratio which is the most important factor in Automatic Train Operation (ATO). Aspects of improving the performance of automatic driving, the followings are investigated and studied : Brake system maintanence method of vehicle, the need to improve braking system, test method of blending brakes, how to minimize the delay of commands for real-time control. In this study, we applied this method to prove the effectiveness in DAEJEON LINE1.

  • Rail is one of major track components for train service, it should be provided in the condition of flat and smooth driving aspect. Therefore, it is inevitable that there would be the field welding to integrate on CWR(Continuous Welded Rail) removing rail joint in these days. It is high chance to be some rail surface irregularity due to the limitation on the status of work condition If a high speed train runs on the rail surface irregularity in the welding part, big impact load comes to pass on that, so track irregularity cycle is reduced, therefore track maintenance cost can be increased. this paper has analyzed wheel load variation according to removing the rail surface irregularity using portable grinding machine in the high speed line. The result measured before and after in the field is decreased about 9.26% on the wheel load variation.

  • Railway is facing a new era by the remarkable technology-intensive development of railways in the rolling stock and track, trains and infrastructure facilities. But the relevant provisions of the regulations for the various driving speed limit accept most of the past rules and it is desperately needed to realize the efficiency of the train operation. In addition, because the rules that drive too many treats of redundancy(the same information is duplicated in the other company policy provisions), they can cause confusion among employees, and also because of the contents of the detailed provisions dealing with almost same regulations, they can cause probable failure and big accident. In this study, the relevant provisions of the current rules are analyzed and overcome problems to improve efficiency and duplicated contents of relevant provisions to drive trains are merged. Also by reorganization of complex speed limits, we can understand easily when even the unusual situation and make a simple decision to prevent accidents. As a result, we can establish the system by doing subsequent actions quickly and accurately.

  • Currently in Korea, neutral sections in front of substations and sectioning posts are greatly divided into AC/DC sections and AC/AC sections. Considering catenary damage and safety issues trains pass crossover by coasting driving at notch-off. However in cases of Japan, China, or Taiwan, the usage of automatic crossover system makes it possible to pass at notch-on, enhancing high-speed railway operation for efficiency, and stability. These are the purposes of developing automatic power crossover system in neutral sections. This paper introduces two methods to detect the position of a train required to activate automatic crossover systems in neutral sections. The optimal method is expected in terms of the distance of neutral section.

  • It is not easy to apply new algorithm to the vehicle under driving test because the principle and moving characteristic of Magnetically Levitated Train(Maglev) developed in KIMM have been not easily analyzed yet. So, in this paper the small-scaled Maglev which can experiment economically and analyze moving-characteristic is proposed. Proposed small-scaled Maglev have the same principle and function as that of Maglev but it is smaller than real system at the ration of 1 to 7.

  • KoRail establishes "Guideline for earthquake acceleration measuring instrument and operation." and applies the management of the rapid transit railroad. KoRail manages the trains by train driving patterns subjected to the train operating know-how for the safety against the earthquake hazards. This paper introduces the case studies on bench blast and tunnel blast designs considering a rapid transit railroad.

  • The running of the electric train are done by powering, breaking and coasting. Powering to start and accelerate the rolling stock means driving the three-phase electric induction motors controlled by VVVF inverters which are connected to overhead power line directly(DC) or indirectly(AC, DC/AC). Breaking is achieved by blending control which is the proportional combination between regenerative breaking of VVVF inverter and air pressure control of breaking operating unit(BOU). Therefore, Data obtained during two operation are very important items to evaluate the running performance of RS. This paper has investigated in real time data acquired from VVVF inverter and measured by pressure sensor directly connected to air breaking line(motor car and trailer car). By analyzing data in the region of time and frequency, fundamental methods for eavaluating the running performance of RS quantitatively and objectively have been suggested.
