  • In this study, we have developed the simulation tool in order to investigate driving trajectory of AGV for container transport. AGV for container transport is different from the indoor AGV in that it is a large size structure at being loaded the weight of 40 ton. and AGV for container transport is applied to front wheel steering, rear wheel steering, all wheel steering, and crap steering. Therefore, we have developed the simulation tool considering dynamic problems and a center of turning in accordance with fourth ways of steering mode. As the result of this study, we have confirmed that this tool is useful and cost-effective in the dynamic analysis or large size vehicles. Also, it is useful to calculate the minimum radius of turning for large size vehicles.

  • In this paper, we newly propose a traffic information service model that collects traffic information sensed by an individual vehicle in real time by using a smart device, and which enables drivers to share traffic information on all roads in real time using an application installed on a smart device. In particular, when the driver requests traffic information for a specific area, the proposed driver-personalized service model provides him/her with traffic information on the driving directions in advance by predicting the driving directions of the vehicle based on the learning of the driving records of each driver. To do this, we propose a traffic information management model to process and manage in real time a large amount of online-generated traffic information and traffic information requests generated by each vehicle. We also propose a road node-based indexing technique to efficiently store and manage location-based traffic information provided by each vehicle. Finally, we propose a driving learning and prediction model based on the hidden Markov model to predict the driving directions of each driver based on the driver's driving records. We analyze the traffic information processing performance of the proposed model and the accuracy of the driving prediction model using traffic information collected from actual driving vehicles for the entire area of Seoul, as well as driving records and experimental data.

  • In this study, position and force simultaneous trajectory tracking control system with pneumatic cylinder driving apparatus is proposed. The pneumatic cylinder driving apparatus that consists of two pneumatic cylinders constrained in series and two proportional flow control valves offers a considerable advantage as to non-interaction of the actuators because of the low stiffness of the pneumatic cylinders. The controller applied to the driving system is composed of a non-interaction controller to compensate for interaction of two cylinders and a disturbance observer to reduce the effect of model discrepancy of the driving system in the low frequency range that cannot be suppressed by the non-interaction controller. The experimental results with the proposed control system show that the interacting effects of two cylinders are eliminated remarkably and the proposed control system tracks the given position and force trajectories accurately.

  • This paper introduces three vehicle trajectory-based data forwarding schemes, tailored for vehicular ad hoc networks. Nowadays GPS-based navigation systems are popularly used for providing efficient driving paths for drivers. With the driving paths called vehicle trajectories, we can make data forwarding schemes more efficient, considering the micro-scoped mobility of individual vehicles in road networks as well as the macro-scoped mobility of vehicular traffic statistics. This paper shows why the vehicle trajectory is a key ingredient in the design of the vehicle-to-infrastructure, infrastructure-to-vehicle, and vehicle-to-vehicle data forwarding schemes over multihop. Through the mathematical formulation, the key design techniques are shown for three forwarding schemes based on vehicle trajectory, compared with a state-of- the- art data forwarding scheme based on only vehicular traffic statistics.

  • Bucket trajectory is crucial regarding precision work with an excavator. In general, the bucket trajectory deviation is determined by the machining deviation of the frame, driving deviation of the driving hydraulic cylinder, clearance in the joints, and deformation of the structure. This paper investigated the relationship between the respective clearance in joints and the trajectory deviation of the bucket at the finishing work of the ditching for a 20-ton excavator. As a result, the larger the clearance, the larger deviation is increased at trajectory. However, it was found that the deviation of the rotation angle and displacement of the bucket was limited and the size of clearance does not affect closely on the contact angle of the pin shaft.

  • In the Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET), the data transmission of time-sensitive applications requires low latency, such as accident warnings, driving guidance, etc. However, frequent changes of topology in VANET will result in data transmission failures. In order to improve the efficiency of VANETs data transmission and increase the timeliness of data, this paper proposes a relay scheme based on Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) trajectory prediction, which can be used to select the optimal relay vehicle to transmit data. The proposed scheme learns vehicle trajectory in a distributed manner and calculates the predicted trajectory, and then the optimal vehicle can be selected to complete the data transmission, which ensures the timeliness of the data. Finally, we carry out a set of simulations to demonstrate the performance of the algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme enhances the timeliness of the data and the accuracy of the predicted driving trajectory.

  • This paper suggests a car-following algorithm for urban environment, with multiple target candidates. Until now, advanced driver assistant systems (ADASs) and self-driving technologies have been researched to cope with diverse possible scenarios. Among them, car-following driving has been formed the groundwork of autonomous vehicle for its integrity and flexibility to other modes such as smart cruise system (SCC) and platooning. Although the field has a rich history, most researches has been focused on the shape of target trajectory, such as the order of interpolated polynomial, in simple single-lane situation. However, to introduce the car-following mode in urban environment, realistic situation should be reflected: multi-lane road, target's unstable driving tendency, obstacles. Therefore, the suggested car-following system includes both in-lane preceding vehicle and other factors such as side-lane targets. The algorithm is comprised of three parts: path candidate generation and optimal trajectory selection. In the first part, initial guesses of desired paths are calculated as polynomial function connecting host vehicle's state and vicinal vehicle's predicted future states. In the second part, final target trajectory is selected using quadratic cost function reflecting safeness, control input efficiency, and initial objective such as velocity. Finally, adjusted path and control input are calculated using model predictive control (MPC). The suggested algorithm's performance is verified using off-line simulation using Matlab; the results shows reasonable car-following motion planning.

  • Automation is important in modern agricultural environment, which demands the highest level of technology. In the paper an independent four-wheel steering driving platform is developed especially for horticulture in glass house farm. Mathematical modeling of the four wheel system is carried out for smooth movement. The relationships between steering angle, the turning radius, and escape trajectory are simulated using the dynamic analysis program. Optimal driving algorithm is sought through the performance evaluation.

  • The transducer for multi-directionally movable ultrasonic motor having lambda shaped vibrators has been proposed and designed. The two branches cross at a right angle with each other at the tip. FEM analyses of lambda shaped transducer were carried out to find vibration modes for ultrasonic motor. The lambda shaped transducer has one symmetric mode and two anti-symmetric modes. The symmetric mode generates the normal direction motion of the tip. The lateral and vertical direction motion of the tip are excited by two anti-symmetric modes. The normal and lateral direction motions made an lateral elliptic trajectory. And the normal and vertical direction motions made an vertical elliptic trajectory normal to previous one. The transducer with 1 mm in thickness and 25 mm in length has been fabricated and evaluated. The resonance frequencies of the transducer was 32 kHz and 103 kHz. The tangential and vertical vibration displacement of the transducer having the lateral elliptic trajectory were $1.5{\mu}m\;and\;1.1{\mu}m$, respectively at the driving voltage of 100 Vpp and frequency of 32 kHz and 103 kHz. And the tangential and vertical vibration displacement of the transducer having the vertical elliptic trajectory were $0.4{\mu}m\;and\;0.2{\mu}m$, respectively at the same driving condition.
