The position information of individual vehicles on a road at every time instant can be used to analyze the microscopic behaviors of driving of each vehicle. The limited information obtained from previous imaging technology such as traffic volume and interval velocity cannot be used to explore such microscopic traffic conditions. Also, information gathering for the microscopic behaviors by manual analysis of captured video takes large amount of time and man-power. In the paper we develop the rule-based vehicle tracking technology from which the position information of individual vehicles on a road at every time instant can be automatically obtained. Also, we extract the position data of driving vehicles on a road, length of 130m for every 0.05 second, and calculate the velocity of each traced vehicles to compare with the real velocity for the verification of accuracy. In the future, this type of tracking techniques based on video analysis can be widely used to provide the practically important information of road traffic conditions and to analyze the academically important microscopic behaviors of driving patterns.
The transportation and logistics industries, the constructions of a green transport methods for logistics systems are presented. They aims the greenhouse gas emissions 37% savings compared to BAU(Business As Usual) for a green growth of national strategy by 2020. An eco-driving training for truck drivers is a typical way. However there are few studies such as the integrated data collection automatically and the diagnostic Assessments and monitoring methods of logistics network status to show the effects of the eco-driving. To solve this problem, this paper provides previous research on logistics network diagnostics assessments and monitoring service and eco-driving. Then this paper shows developments of the logistics network diagnostic assessments and monitoring service business flow to promote eco-driving behaviors for truck drivers based on a smart phone application. Also, it shows an efficiency through an application results in field test.
This study aimed to verify the criteria of the driver monitoring systems proposed by UNECE ACSF informal working group and the ministry of land, infrastructure, and transport of South Korea using driving behavior data. In order to verify the criteria, we investigated the safety regulations of driver monitoring systems in a conditional autonomous vehicle and found that the driver monitoring measures were related to eye blinks times, head movements, and eye closed duration. Thus, we took two different experimental data including real-world driving and simulator-based drowsy driving behaviors in previous studies. The real-world driving data were used for analyzing blink times and head movement intervals, and the drowsiness data were used for eye closed duration. In the drowsy driving study, 10 drivers drove approximately 37 km of a monotonous highway (about 22 min) twice. The results suggested that the appropriate duration of eyes continuously closed was 4 seconds. The results from real-world driving data were presented in the other paper - part 1.

Inkjet printing technology with a drop-on-demand (DOD) inkget head technology has been recognized as one of versatile and low cost manufacturing tools in the electronics industry. Concerned with control of driving signal, however, general strategy to optimize jetting stability has not been understood well, because of the inherent complex multi-physics nature in inkjet phenomena. Motivated by this, present study investigates the effect of driving waveforms of piezoelectric head on jetting characteristics of DOD inkjet system focused on jetting stability with phase matching of pressure waves in the print head. The results show that velocities and volumes of the ink jetted droplets were linear relations with the driving signal's maximum voltage, while periodic behaviors are observed with the driving signal's pulse widths.

A prototype of a linear piezoelectric actuator is developed and its dynamic behaviors are investigated. The actuator consists of a driving tip with two stacked piezoelectric elements and a slider. Dynamic characteristics of slider over various vibration lici of the driving tip and changes of normal force acting on the vibratory tip are examined through experiments. The moving direction of slider can be controlled by changing a phase angle between input signals applied to piezoelectric elements. A change of phase difference between input signals also have a great influence on the vibration locus of driving tip. Changes of slider motion due to different vibration loci are examined by experiments.

The real-world driving data were used for analyzing blink times and head movement intervals, and the drowsiness data were used for eye closed duration. In the real-world driving study, 52 drivers drove approximately 11.0 km of rural road (about 20 min), 7.9 km of urban road (about 25 min), and 20.8 km of highway (about 20 min). The results suggested that the appropriate number of blinks during the last 60 seconds was 4 times, and the head movement interval was 35 seconds. The results from drowsy driving data will be presented in another paper - part 2.
Automobile black boxes store and provide accident and driving information. The accident and driving information can be utilized to build scientific traffic-event database and can be applied in various industries. The objective of this study is to develop a recognition system of dangerous driving through analyzing the driving characteristic patterns. In this paper, possible dangerous driving models are classified into four models on the basis of vehicle behaviors(acceleration, deceleration, rotation) and accident types from existing statistical data. Dangerous driving data have been acquired through vehicle tests using automobile black boxes. Characteristics of driving patterns have been analyzed in order to classify dangerous driving models. For the recognition of dangerous driving, this study selected critical value of each dangerous driving model and developed the recognition algorithm of dangerous driving. The study has been verified by the application of recognition algorithm of dangerous driving and vehicle tests using automobile black boxes. The presented recognition methods of dangerous driving can be used for on-line/off-line management of drivers and vehicles.
This study focused on novice drivers. Novice drivers get involved in more traffic accidents than the other drivers because of less driving experience. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between driving confidence levels and speeding, drunken driving, and traffic accidents. 192 drivers responded driving confidence levels questionnaire and driving experience items. 'Circumstance Insensibility', 'Unsafe Driving', 'Incautious Driving', and 'Self-efficacy of Driving' had significant relations with speeding in novice divers group. Especially, 'Circumstance Insensibility' showed a significant relation with speeding, drunken driving and traffic accidents. In the result of path analysis, driving confidence levels explained 22% of the speeding, 12% of the drunken driving and 21% of the traffic accidents in novice drivers group. 'Circumstance Insensibility' was most effective for traffic accidents of novice drivers. We verified that 'Self-efficacy of Driving' affects on traffic accidents via speeding.
Background: Occupational safety issues related to food delivery riders emerge with evidence of an increase in associated traffic accidents and injuries along with the rapid growth of the online food delivery business. This paper focuses on food delivery riders' job stress and investigates its relationships with both antecedents and risky riding outcomes. Method: Survey data were collected from 279 Taiwanese food delivery motorcycle riders and analyzed using hierarchical regression analysis. Results: The results show that job overload and time pressure positively impact riders' job stress, while self-efficacy slightly reduces job stress. Job stress positively leads to risky driving behavior and distraction. In addition, time pressure can strengthen the impact of job overload on job stress. Riders' risky riding attitude can also strengthen the impacts of job stress on risky riding behaviors and distraction. Conclusion: This paper advances the literature on online food delivery as well as the occupational safety improvement of food delivery riders. Specifically, this study provides insights into the job stress of food delivery motorcycle riders and the effects of job characteristics and risky behavioral consequences.
