Comparison of Deep-Learning Algorithms for the Detection of Railroad Pedestrians

  • Railway transportation is the main land-based transportation in most countries. Accordingly, railway-transportation safety has always been a key issue for many researchers. Railway pedestrian accidents are the main reasons of railway-transportation casualties. In this study, we conduct experiments to determine which of the latest convolutional neural network models and algorithms are appropriate to build pedestrian railroad accident prevention systems. When a drone cruises over a pre-specified path and altitude, the real-time status around the rail is recorded, following which the image information is transmitted back to the server in time. Subsequently, the images are analyzed to determine whether pedestrians are present around the railroads, and a speed-deceleration order is immediately sent to the train driver, resulting in a reduction of the instances of pedestrian railroad accidents. This is the first part of an envisioned drone-based intelligent security system. This system can effectively address the problem of insufficient manual police force.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of a packet communication protocol KAX. 25 to be used on the KITSAT microsatellite. As a part of the KAX, 25 protocol, an interrupt driven I/O driver, I/O handler and an AX. 25 radio communication protocol are implemented in the KASCOM that will be used as On-Board Computer in the next missions. The implemented protocol is applied to the enginnering model of the KITSAT-2 satellite in the test configuration simulating the link between the satellite and the ground station and the compatibility of the data link layer protocol is tested.

  • In this paper, an algorithm is presented to recognize lane and obstacles based on highway road image. The road images obtained by a video camera undergoes a pre-processing that includes filtering, edge detection, and identification of lanes. After this pre-processing, a part of image is grouped into 27 sub-windows and fed into a three-layer feed-forward neural network. The neural network is trained to indicate the road direction and the presence of absence of an obstacle. The proposed algorithm has been tested with the images different from the training images, and demonstrated its efficacy for recognizing lane and obstacles. Based on the test results, it can be said that the algorithm successfully combines the traditional image processing and the neural network principles towards a simpler and more efficient driver warning of assistance system

A Study on Converter OBD (컨버터 OBD에 대한 연구)

  • As a part of stringent emission regulations, OBD on a converter is requested by EU and CARB. It demands that MIL is light-on to inform the failure to the driver when the converter is failed in its function. Usually dual oxygen sensor method is used for converter OBD. For this, detail methods, like amplitude ratio, time delay and frequency ratio methods are adapted for vehicle application. Actually, the cars produced later than MY94 for US market are using one of these methods. In this study, OSCs of converters are investigated with an absolute measuring method. The converters are aged with a furnace aging, an engine bench aging and vehicle aging method to represent various aging condition in field applications. An OBD index that is used for TLEVs regulation is also investigated to find a relation between two parameters. The relations of these parameters with THC emission on vehicle are evaluated.

  • As car seat is the closest part between driver and rider, the interest of the security and comfort of the seat is increasing. This research discovered the best condition for dyeing and finishing to produce a fabric for car seat and also developed the design of fabrication to give the feeling from such a finishing. The best condition of coating finishing solution is aqueous PU 65%, dye resist reagent 20%, water 12%, thicker 3%, and knife thickness 2mm, tenter temperature $170^{\circ}C$, tenter speed 35yard/min, viscosity 12,000cps and stirring time 100kg * 30min. According to the processing time of knife coating upon stirring the change of resin and the uneven of coating quantity was shown. This problems will be solved by means of automatic temperature control apparatus for resin and sealing device through a coming research.

A Study on Design of Barrel Cam for Automatic Bulb Production Machine (전구 자동화 생산기계용 바렐 캠의 형상설계에 관한 연구)

  • A barrel cam is used as a very important part of an index drive unit. The index drive unit must have an intermittent-rotational motion. The barrel typed cam and roller gear mechanism has the advantages of high reliability to perform a prescribed motion of a follower. This paper proposes a new method for the shape design of the barrel cam and also a CAD program is developed by using the proposed method. As defined in this paper, the relative velocity method for the shape design calculates the relative velocity of the follower versus cam at a center of roller, and then detemines a contact point by using the geometric relationships and the kinematic constraints, where the direction of the relative velocity must be parallel to a common tangential line at the contact point of two independent bodies, i.e. the cam and the follower. Then, the shape of the cam is defined by the coordinate transformation of the trace of the contact points. This paper presents shape design of the barrel cam in order to prove the accuracy of the proposed methods

  • This paper analyses the Korean information and communication technology supply side across the economy using 1995, 2000 and 2003 input-output tables. Input-output analysis considers inter-industry relations in an economy, depicting how the output of one industry goes to another industry where it serves as an input, and thereby makes one industry dependent on another both as customer of output and as supplier of Inputs. It can be evaluated that the recent growth of Korean ICT sector has come from the development of communication service and equipment industry and software industry. Although the high performance and positive revealed comparative advantages in ICT manufacturing sector, the value added and employment in that sector are not satisfactory. It may reflect in part high portion of imported intermediate goods in ICT manufacturing. However, it is fortunate that ICT services, which accounted for relatively high value added, induce the development of ICT manufacturing and follow strong export performance. Moreover, it is expected that the software sector with high value added and employment will be a major driver of ICT growth.

  • Since May 2003, On-line test to validate the interface between electrified conventional track, rolling stock, power supply and signalling system. Main test items are the suitability of the system such as vibration of the rolling stock, noise, current collection, track and signal system. In this article, part of the vibration and noise related test results are introduced such as the vibration of the carbody and bogie, running stability, jerk, interior noise of the passenger car and driver's cabin.

  • The idea that city culture can be employed as a driver for urban development has become part of the new orthodoxy by which cities seek to enhance their competitive position. Such development reflect not only the rise to prominence of the cultural sphere in the city development, but also how the meaning of culture has been refined to include new uses in order to meet the main objectives of sustainable development. This study focuses on the procedure how the cultural infrastructure and historical context can be applied for urban regeneration strategy. Two successful cases (Bilbao, Spain and Yokohama, Japan) were selected for analysis of strategies as a whole, background, main characteristics of culture-led urban regeneration strategies and their effect for urban regeneration have been analyzed in detail. In conclusion, lessons for the future development were suggested in terms of resources, planning and linking strategies.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the calculated method of loss characteristics of full-bridge eletronic ballast for 250Watt HID lamps by approximated modeling. These lamps have the most emit effiency and color rendering. Especially, the majority of losses appear to the MOSFET do full-bridge, L of output terminal and driver IC, besides losses occur to the R in the ballast. These losses cause heating and breakage of MOSFET. When HID-lamp arrivals the steady-state, loss of ballast is measured 9% and analyzed value is 8% approximately. Accordingly it is not too much to say that greater part of losses is examined.
