DEVELOPMENT OF AUTOMATIC CLUTCH ACTUATOR FOR AUTOMATED MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS

  • With the growing traffic density and increasing comfort requirements, the automation of the drive train has gained importance in vehicles. The automatic clutch actuation relieves a driver especially in urban and stop-and-go traffic environments. In this paper, an electro-mechanical actuator for clutch-by-wire (CBW) system is implemented as the first stage for the development of automated manual transmissions. The prototype of the automatic clutch actuator is designed systematically, which is composed of the electric motor, worm and worm wheel, and crank mechanism. A test rig is developed to perform the basic function test for the automatic clutch actuation. The developed prototype is validated by the experimental results performed on the test rig.

  • Because CV Joint which is one of the component of automobile power train system communicates high power and performs power steering function, it requires high qualities such as high strength, high toughness and high fatigue resistance. This component undergoes a series of production processes such as forging, machining and heat treatment and required properties for this component depends on plastic deformation and heat treatment heavily. Therefore in this study, in order to these effects on mechanical properties due to plastic deformation and heat treatment we performed heat treatment following plastic deformation and then tensile test.

  • 최근의 차량 산업은 차량 내 전자장비들을 하나로 묶을 수 있는 네트워크들이 발달되고, 이에 따라 각각의 네트워크간의 통신이 중요시 되고 있다. 현재 차량에 사용되고 있는 네트워크로는 CAN, LIN, MOST, FlexRay 등이 사용되고 있다. 여러 가지 네트워크들이 생겨나면서 네트워크를 이용한 여러 가지 응용들도 생겨나게 되었고, 이로 인해 운전자들도 좀 더 편리한 환경에서 차량을 운전하고자 하는 욕구가 많아지고 있다. 차량내의 다른 네트워크 환경을 하나의 통합된 환경으로 만들어주기 위한 게이트웨이 연구가 활발히 이루어진다면, 보다 많은 응용들이 개발될 것으로 예상된다. 본 논문에서는 주로 차량의 Body Train 쪽 제어에 사용되는 CAN bus 네트워크와 인포테인먼트 시스템을 제공해주는 MOST 네트워크간의 게이트웨이를 이용한다. 통신을 통해 CAN Node중의 하나인 차량속도를 MOST Navigation 으로 전송하여 차량이 터널에 진입하여 GPS 정보를 얻어올 수 없을 때도 차량의 현재 속도정보를 Gateway를 통해 Navigation으로 실시간으로 전송하는 기술을 이용하는 차량 자동 안전제어 시뮬레이션 시스템 설계하고 구현하고자 한다.

  • A realtime simulator using an explicit integration method is introduced to improve the solving performance for the dynamic analysis of a wheeled vehicle. Because a full vehicle system has many parts, the development of a numerical technique for multiple d.o.f. and ground contacts has been required to achieve a realtime dynamics analysis. This study proposes an efficient realtime solving technique that considers the wheeled vehicle dynamics behavior with full degrees of freedom and wheel contact with soft ground such as sand or undersea ground. A combat vehicle was developed to verify this method, and its dynamics results are compared with commercial programs using implicit integration methods. The combat vehicle consists of a chassis, double wishbone type front and rear suspension, and drive train. Some cases of vehicle dynamics analysis are carried out to verify the realtime ratio.

  • Magnetically levitated (Maglev) vehicles maintain a constant air gap between guideway and car bogie, and thereby achieves non-contact riding. Since the straightness and the flatness of the guideway directly affect the stability of levitation as well as the ride comfort, it is necessary to monitor the status of the guideway and to alert the train operators to any abnormal conditions. In order to develop a signal processing algorithm that extracts guideway irregularities from sensor data, virtual testing using a simulation model would be convenient for analyzing the exact effects of any input as long as the model describes the actual system accurately. Simulation model can also be used as an estimation model. In this paper, we develop a state-space dynamic model of a maglev vehicle system, running on the guideway that contains jumps. This model contains not only the dynamics of the vehicle, but also the descriptions of the power amplifier, the anti-aliasing filter and the sampling delay. A test rig is built for the validation of the model. The test rig consists of a small-scale maglev vehicle, tracks with artificial jumps, and various sensors measuring displacements, accelerations, and coil currents. The experimental data matches well with those from the simulation model, indicating the validity of the model.

서울도시철도공사 터널모니터링 시스템의 운영성과와 과제 (Achievements and Tasks of the SMRT Tunnel Monitoring System(TMS))

  • 본 논문에서는 서울지하철 5~8호선에 운영 중인 터널모니터링 시스템의 운영성과를 분석 평가하고 개선방안을 제시하였다. 터널모니터링 시스템 도입으로 종래에는 열차운행이 끝나야만 가능했던 터널 내 시설물 점검이 주간에도 가능해졌다. TMS 도입으로 전에 비해 점검능력이 확대되었고, 정확성도 향상되었으며, 점검주기가 단축되었다. 인력활용 효율이 향상되어 중요 시설물에 대한 점검과 유지보수에 인력을 추가로 배치할 수 있게 되었다. 그 결과 예방정비 건수는 225% 증가하였고, 열차운행 장애는 53% 감소하였다.

  • The Fuel cell Rubber tired Train (FRT), which is now getting the attention as the next generation vehicle with its environment-friendliness, is the transportation for smooth connections of city traffic. It is the revival of the surface-car system with its revaluation of the function and technological development. Accordingly, fixed time operation and high speed driving became possible. FRT is operated together with other vehicles on the regular drive way. While this vehicle can solve the problem of traffic congestion in the urban area, it also can be cost-effective when it is compared to the cost of subway construction. It is also designed to minimize the underground or elevated traffic lane, to introduce the new construction technology, to reduce a term of works, and to cut down the operation cost by unmanned automatic driving system. Furthermore, it is considered as the alternative measure of other transportation due to its potential for the ecological way of speed improvement and the accessability to the disabled, elderly and children by developing the vehicle with folding steps or by building the high boarding platforms. In this research, I concentrated on the user oriented interior design of the FRT to make it passenger-friendly and safe in order to maximize the utilization of the vehicle so that all users including wheelchaired, user with baby carriage, elderly and children can conveniently use this vehicle.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of design parameters of modulating valve and hydraulic clutch on the shift quality of a power shuttle transmission using a computer simulation. Computer simulation models of a hydraulic control system and a power shuttle drive train were developed and verified by an experimental power train in a laboratory. The software EASY5 was used for the modeling and simulation of the power shuttle transmission. Results of the study were summarized as follows: For a good shift quality. it is required to reduce the transient torque transmitted to the output shaft of the transmission as much as possible. This may be achieved by reducing the modulating time and clutch pressure. It was found that the design parameters most significantly affecting the modulating time and clutch pressure were the spring constant and displacement of a load piston of the modulating valve, and the spring constant and damping of the clutch piston. The modulating time decreased as the spring constant increased and increased as the displacement of the load piston decreased. The transient torque decreased as the modulating time increased. However their relationships were not always linear. As the damping decreased, both the modulating pressure and time decreased, which also resulted in a decrease in the transient torque. The spring constant of the clutch piston affected the modulating time and the peak transient torque. As the spring constant of the clutch increased, the peak transient torque decreased.

  • In-Wheel System은 고성능의 전기모터를 Wheel에 직접 장착하여 파워트레인 요소를 모두 제거함으로써 차량시스템의 효율을 높인 시스템이다. 추후 친환경 차량에 적용할 수 있는 신개념의 플랫폼을 제공할 수 있는 고효율, 고성능 차량 시스템이기에 다양한 분야에 적용되고 있다. 이러한 시스템의 급증은 우리 생활의 안전과 직결되므로 개발단계에서 부품의 신뢰성을 확인하고 인증하여야 한다. 신뢰성이란 "부품이나 시스템이 주어진 환경에서 고장 없이 일정기간 동안 요구기능을 수행하는 특성"이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 In-Wheel System의 핵심 부품인 In-Wheel Motor를 신뢰성 평가 중 하나인 내구 수명에 대한 검증 방안을 In-Wheel Motor의 운전 조건으로부터 가감속 토크 및 실효토크를 계산해서 이를 바탕으로 가속수명시험을 위한 속도 패턴을 제안하여 시험시간을 단축하고, 또한 In-Wheel Motor의 수명 신뢰성을 검증한다.

스로틀 전자제어 방식 M/T차량의 가/감속 시 운전성 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Driveability Improvement on the Electronic Throttle Control M/T Vehicle at Tip-in/out)

  • The passenger car drivers want in general to feel good driveability, but they sometimes feel uncomfortable by shock and jerk phenomena when they push or release acceleration pedal with clutch on state. In this paper, the shock and jerk characteristics are studied on the vehicles controlled by the throttle-by-wire system. Experiments and simulations were carried out on two vehicles which show different control characteristics. The engine torque control characteristics was analyzed by measuring cylinder pressure. Various specification factors of the vehicles and the torque control logic of the engines were simulated through experimental data basis. The result shows the spring effect of the trans-axle in the drive-train is one of the most important factors of the shock-jerk phenomena and the engine torque control method is also responsible for the reducing the shock-jerk amplitude. In this paper a new control logic of the engine torque is suggested for the better driveablility on the tip-in/out event.
