  • This paper is proposed adaptive hybrid artificial intelligent(HAI) controller for high performance of induction motor drive. The design of this algorithm based on fuzzy-neural network(FNN) controller that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural network. This controller uses fuzzy rule as training patterns of a neural network. Also, this controller uses the back-propagation method to adjust the weights between the neurons of neural network in order to minimize the error between the command output and actual output. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the adaptive FNN controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. The results of experiment prove that the proposed control system has strong high performance and robustness to parameter variation, and steady-state accuracy and transient response.

  • Earlier models of card vending machines have generally motion drives with high cost and large size. However, current trend in card vending machines requires low-cost, compact-sized and readily installable motion drives. This paper shows the operational principle of the motion drive of a card vending machine and then presents the performance test results of the motion drive with improved mechanisms proposed in the paper. The results show that the proposed mechanism is valid and improves the card dispensing performance. The proposed model in the paper is accepted and introduced in the actual production line.

  • This paper presents Hybrid PI controller of IPMSM drive using fuzzy adaptive mechanism(FAM) control. In general, PI controller in computer numerically controlled machine process fixed gain. They may perform well under some operating conditions, but not all. To increase the robustness, fixed gain PI controller, Hybrid PI controller proposes a new method based self tuning PI controller. Hybrid PI controller is developed to minimize overshoot and settling time following sudden parameter changes such as speed, load torque, inertia, rotor resistance and self inductance. The results on a speed controller of IPMSM are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner. And this controller is better than the fixed gains one in terms of robustness, even under great variations of operating conditions and load disturbance.

  • CD-R disc drive is one of the basic options of personal computer today. In this trend, various CD-R discs can be purchased in every market. Even very low quality discs are in market too. Today's CD-R disc drive is being operated over 10,000 RPM. So the possibility of the disc fracture is growing faster. Sometimes, during the test of a new disc drive by various methods to confirm the quality of it, fracture of the disc happens. And it happens in end user's personal computer scarcely. In this reason, new methods to confirm the quality and the failure mechanism of the optical disc are studied in this paper.

  • The switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive system provides a good adjustable speed and torque characteristics. However, because of the torque production mechanism, it also has some disadvantage such as higher torque ripple and fluctuation in speed. To reduce torque ripple and to control speed precisely, digital signal processor(DSP) is adopted. The DSP TMS320F241 was used to be realized this drive system. Test results show that the suggested control system has the ability of dynamic and precise speed control.

  • This paper investigates the adaptive control of a fuzzy logic based speed and flux controller for a vector controlled induction motor drive. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the model reference adaptive control(mAC) fuzzy controller is evaluated by simulation for various operating conditions. The validity of the proposed MRAC fuzzy controller is confirmed by performance results for induction motor drive system.

  • The switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive system provides a good adjustable speed and torque characteristics. SRM has the possibility of maintaining full power over a wide speed range. So, many attempts are being done from home appliances to industrial machinery and tools. Especially, a traction drive of an SRM is one of a good application for it's DC-series characteristic. However, because of the switching mechanism, it has some disadvantage of noise and vibration. It is difficult to adopt to an appliance demanding silency. A noise simulation and design of 6/4 and 12/8 SRM was done in order to compare each other was done.

  • SRM Drives generate large vibration and acoustic noise because it is rotated by step pulse mmf and switching commutation mechanism. The main vibration source of SRM Drive is generated by rapidly variation of radial force when phase winding current is extinguished for commutation action. So the rapidly variation of radial force is repressed firstly to reduce vibrating force of SRM Drive. This paper suggests the vibration reduction method that SRM Drive with unidirect-short compensation winding is excited by a two stage commutation method at commutation period. This reduction effect of vibration is verified with the result obtained in the test of prototype machine.
