  • For its synergistic relationship, an integrated SDINS/GPS system has been adopted in many navigation areas. As an application of SDINS/GPS integration, the in-flight alignment process of a SDINS utilizing GPS carrier phase measurements is introduced and analyzed via an observability analysis using nul1 space method. A measurement model of double-differenced GPS carrier phase measurements is newly derived in order to be used with a SDINS error model. Also, conditions for determining the complete observability of a SDINS/GPS system are suggested and proved. Consequently, it is shown that the system is not completely observable in case of one basel me. With one baseline aligned with y-axis of body frame, pitch error and x-axis accelerometer bias are unobservable states. Also shown is that al1 states are completely observable when sequential maneuver is performed. Above results are confirmed by a covariance analysis.

  • Purpose: To investigate the risk factors for anastomotic leakage (AL) after anterior resection for rectal cancer with a double stapling technique. Patients and Methods: Between January 2004 and December 2011, 753 consecutive patients in Jiangsu Cancer Hospital and Research Institute diagnosed with rectal cancer and undergoing anterior resection with a double stapling technique were recruited. All patients experienced a total mesorectal excision (TME) operation. Additionally, decrease of postoperative tumor supplied group of factors (TSGF), which have not been reported before, was proposed as a new indicator for AL. Univariate and multivariate analysis were performed to determine risk factors for AL. Results: AL was detected in 57 (7.6%) of 753 patients with rectal cancer. The diagnosis of anastomotic leakage was confirmed between the 6th and 12th postoperative day (POD; mean 8th POD). After univariate analysis and multivariate analysis, age (p<0.001), gender (p=0.002), level of anastomosis (p<0.001), preoperative body mass index (BMI) (p=0.001) and reduction of TSGF in 5th POD was less than 10 ${\mu}/ml$ (p<0.001) were selected as 5 independent risk factors for AL. It was also indicated that a temporary defunctioning transverse ileostomy (p=0.04) would decrease the occurrence of AL. Conclusion: AL after anterior resection for rectal carcinoma is related to elderly status, low level site of the tumor (below the peritoneal reflection), being male, preoperative BMI and the decrease of TSGF in $5^{th}$ POD is less than 10 ${\mu}/ml$. Preventive ileostomy is advisable after TME for low rectal tumors to prevent AL.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Urbanization and lifestyle changes have resulted in nutrition transition. Over-nutrition causes obesity increase, although malnutrition still exists. This phenomenon is called a double burden of malnutrition (DBM). This study was conducted to confirm the existence of DBM and to investigate the dietary factors related to DBM in Indonesian adults. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Data for the subjects (51 men and 89 women) who are the adults resided in Malang, Indonesia were collected between July 17 and August 14, 2017, by using questionnaire. Height, weight, waist and hip circumference, blood pressure, blood glucose, total cholesterol, and hemoglobin were also measured for the subjects. RESULTS: The average age of the subjects was 47.2 years. The average height, weight, and body mass index for men were 160.08 cm, 62.6 kg and $25.45kg/m^2$, respectively, and those for women were 148.74 cm, 58.09 kg, and $26.21kg/m^2$, respectively. Of the subjects, 3.6% were underweight, 24.3% were normal or healthy weight, while 72.2% were overweight and obese. Analysis of the dietary intakes revealed high for cereal (7.73 points), but very low for milk (0.25 points) and fruits (0.51 points). Dietary diversity was very few overall (< 5). The occurrence of both anemia (23.6%) and chronic diseases such as hypertension (57.1%), diabetes (12.1%), and hypercholesterolemia (3.6%) was considerably high. The existence of DBM was confirmed by 16.4% of the subjects. DBM was observed significantly higher in women than in men. Dietary diversity and DBM occurrence were inversely correlated. On average, the number of chronic diseases was 1.08 in men and 1.79 in women. Dietary diversity inversely affected systolic blood pressure. CONCLUSIONS: DBM existed in adults in Malang, Indonesia due to inadequate dietary intakes, and a high rate of chronic diseases.

  • We design a crisscrossed double-layer birdcage (DLBC) coil by modifying the coil geometry of a standard single-layer BC (SLBC) coil to enhance the homogeneity of transmitting magnetic flux density ($B_1{^+}$) along the main magnetic field ($B_0$)-direction for small-animal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at 300 MHz. The performance assessment of the crisscrossed DLBC coil is conducted by computational analysis with the finite-difference time domain method (FDTD) and compared with SLBC coil in terms of the $B_1$ and the $B_1{^+}$ distribution. As per the computational calculation studies, the mean value in the two-dimensional $B_1{^+}$ map obtained at the mid-axial slice with the proposed DLBC coil is slightly lower than that obtained with the SLBC coil, but the $B_1{^+}$ value of the DLBC coil in the outermost plane (40 mm away from the central plane) shows improvements of 19.3% and 24.8% over the SLBC coil $B_1{^+}$ value when simulating a spherical phantom and realistic mouse body modeling. These simulation results indicate that, the $B_1{^+}$ homogeneity along the z-direction was improved by using DLBC configuration. Our approach enables $B_1{^+}$ homogeneity improvement along the zdirection, and it can also be applied to ultra-high field (UHF) MRI systems.

  • The volumetric errors of CNC machining centers are determined by 21 errors, including 3 linear errors, 6 straightness errors, 3 perpendicular errors, 9 angular errors and non-rigid body errors of the machine tool. It is very time consuming and hard to measure all of these errors in which laser interferometer and other parts are used directly. Hence, as many as 21 separate setups and measurements are needed for the linear, straightness, angular and perpendicular errors. In case of the 5-axis machining centers, two more rotary tables are used. It can make 35 error sources of the movement. Therefore, the measured errors of multi movements of the 5-axis tables are very complicated, even if the relative measured errors are measured. This paper describes the methods, those analyze the error sources of the machining centers. Those are based on shifted diagonal measurements method (SDM), R-test and Double ball bar. In case, the angular errors of machine are small enough comparing with others, twelve errors including three linear position errors, six straightness errors and three perpendicular errors can be calculated by using SDM. To confirm the proposed method, SDM was applied to measuring 3 axes of machine tools and compared with directly measurement of each errors. In addition, the methods for measuring relative errors of multi-axis analysis methods using R-test and Double Ball Bar are introduced in this paper.

  • Purpose: The aim of the current study was to examine the effects of hinged ankle-foot orthosis (HAFO) on walking function in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy (CP). Methods: Thirty-two children (mean age: $6.79{\pm}0.35years$, age range: 5-7 years) who were diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy participated in the study. Each subject typically walked through 10 meters of a gait platform with markers on the subject's proper body segments and underwent 3-D motion analysis system with and without hinged ankle-foot orthosis. The HAFOs were all custom-made for individual CP children and had plantarflexion stop at $0^{\circ}C$ with no dorsiflexion stop. The interventions were conducted over three trials in each group, and measurements were performed on each subject by one examiner in three trials. 3-D motion analysis system was used to measure gait parameters such as walking velocity, cadence, step-length, step-width, stride-length, and double support period in two conditions. Results: The walking velocity, cadence, step-length, and stride-length were significantly greater for the HAFO condition as compared to the no HAFO condition (p<0.05). However, no significant difference in step-width and double support period was observed between two conditions. Conclusion: These findings suggest that using the HAFO during walking would suggest positive evidence for improving the spatiotemporal parameters of gait in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the visual attention of elementary school students according to the editorial design of the 2007 2009 revised elementary science textbook 'Structure and function of our body'. For this purpose, eye movements were collected while elementary school students were watching real textbooks wearing mobile eye tracker. The BeGaze 3.7 program of SMI company was used analyzing eye movements. Twenty-six elementary school students participated voluntarily in mobile tracking research. Elementary students learned the contents of textbook related to 'digestive organ' and 'respiratory organ' by using double reading learning strategy. The results of this study are as follows. First, as a result of pre- and post-knowledge tests, there was no statistically significant difference in learning effect between 2007 revised and 2009 revised textbook editing design. Second, elementary school students tended to give more visual attention to text than textbook illustrations. Third, the selective attention and persistent attention of elementary students showed a very strong positive correlation (.940), but the selective attention and self-control showed a strong positive correlation (.499). Fourth, students with high level of attention and low level showed high visual occupancy in text than in illustrations. Fifth, elementary school students preferred the 2009 revised science textbook to the 2007 revised.

  • The three-dimensional ship motion with forward speed was solved by a finite element method in the time domain. A boundary value problem was described in the frame of a fixed-body reference, and the problem was formulated according to Double-Body and Neumann-Kelvin linearizations. Laplace's equation with boundary conditions was solved by a classical finite element method based on the weak formulation. Chebyshev filtering was used to get rid of an unwanted saw-tooth wave and a wave damping zone was adopted to impose a numerical radiation condition. The time marching of the free surface was performed by the 4th order Adams-Bashforth-Moulton method. Wigley I and Wigely III models were considered for numerical validation. The hydrodynamic coefficients and wave exciting forces were validated by a comparison with experimental data and the numerical results of the Wigley I. The effects of the linearization are also discussed. The motion RAO was also checked with a Wigley III model through mono-chromatic and multi-chromatic regular waves.

  • Relative contributions of lower extremity joints on the support moment were investigated in this study. Three-dimensional gait analyses were performed in normal walking and in unexpected step-down walking. For both gait studies, inverse dynamics were performed to obtain each joint moment of the lower extremity, which was applied to the forward dynamics simulation to determine the contributions on the support moment at different phases of walking. The forward dynamic simulation results showed that, in normal walking, the ankle plantar flexors contributed significantly during single-limb-support. However, the ankle plantar flexors, knee extensors and hip extensors worked together during double-limb-support. In unexpected step-down walking, the important contributors on the support of the body during single-limb-support were not only ankle plantar flexors but also knee extensors. This study, analyzing the relative contributions of the lower limb joint moments for the body support, would be helpful to understand different unexpected walking conditions and compensatory mechanisms for various pathological gaits.

  • A realtime simulator using an explicit integration method is introduced to improve the solving performance for the dynamic analysis of a wheeled vehicle. Because a full vehicle system has many parts, the development of a numerical technique for multiple d.o.f. and ground contacts has been required to achieve a realtime dynamics analysis. This study proposes an efficient realtime solving technique that considers the wheeled vehicle dynamics behavior with full degrees of freedom and wheel contact with soft ground such as sand or undersea ground. A combat vehicle was developed to verify this method, and its dynamics results are compared with commercial programs using implicit integration methods. The combat vehicle consists of a chassis, double wishbone type front and rear suspension, and drive train. Some cases of vehicle dynamics analysis are carried out to verify the realtime ratio.
