Double Aortic Arch Associated with Complete Transposition of the Great Arteries (혈관륜을 동반한 대혈관전위증의 치험 1)

  • The authors report a case of double aortic arch associated with complete transposition of the great arteries. On 7th, Feb. 1985, Rastelli operation was performed for transposition using extracardiac valved conduit. Postoperative course was complicated by persistent right lower lobe atelectasis which resulted from tracheal compression by double aortic arch. On 20th, Mar. 1985, left arch was divided distal to the left subclavian artery followed by complete resolution of the atelectasis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case ever reported in Korea.

  • This paper considers automated storage and retrieval systems with double shuttle. We developed the expected travel time model based on the first come first served rule. An heuristic procedure by retrieval order sequencing was presented which aimed to improve the operation efficiency laking advantage of "No cost zone". Through sensitivity study, we evaluated the performance of the double shuttle system working on the four command cycle.

Correction of the Epicanthal Fold with Invisible Scar (눈에 띄는 흉의 생성 없는 내안각췌피 교정술)

  • The epicanthal fold is common natural finding in Asian eyes. It is very common that patients, who look for oriental blephaloplasty for double eye lid, request correction epicanthal fold. It is very often difficult to achieve satisfactory results if the correction of the epicanthal fold is not corrected concomitantly. Many authors described surgical procedures for correction of epicanthal folds. But most of them leave additional scars which tend to be hypertrophic and noriceable. We achieved satisfactory result in epicanthoplasty with invisible scar, using combination of procedures, such as upward incision, double eyelid operation, anchoring suture of the medial upper lid skin to the medial canthal tendon, trans-nasal root subcutaneous mattress suture of the epicanthal fold itself and combined rhinoplasty. For past six years (1998 to 2003) 17 patients have been operated with one of these mentioned procedures. The mean follow up was 4months (2weeks to 6months). All patients were satisfied and no major complication was noted. This method can be one of the effective procedures for correcting the Asian epicanthal fold for avoiding potential visible scar and ancillary procedure in double eye lid blephaloplasty.

  • The modern digital logic technology does not yet satisfy the speed requirements of real-time DSP circuits due to synchronized operation of multiplication and accumulation. This operation degrades DSP performance. Therefore, the double-base number system (DBNS) has emerged in DSP system as an alternative methodology because of fast multiplication and hardware simplicity. In this paper, authors propose a novel multiplication architecture. One operand is an output of a flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in DBNS format, while the other operand is a coefficient in the IEEE standard floating-point number format. The DBNS digital output from ADC is produced through a new double base number encoder (DBNE). The multiplied output is in the format of the IEEE standard floating-point number (FPNS). The proposed circuits process multiplication and conversion together. Compared to a typical multiplier that uses the FPNS, the proposed multiplier also consumes 45% less gates, and 44% faster than the FPNS multiplier on Spartan-3 FPGA board. The design is verified with FIR filter applications.

IMI-Heap: An Implicit Double-Ended Priority Queue with Constant Insertion Amortized Time Complexity (IMI-힙: 상수 삽입 전이 시간 복잡도를 가진 묵시 양단 우선순위 큐)

  • Priority queues, one of the fundamental data structures, have been studied for a long time by computer scientists. This paper proposes an implicit double-ended priority queue, called IMI-heap, in which insert operation takes constant amortized time and each of removal operation of the minimum key or the maximum key takes O(logn) time. To the author's knowledge, all implicit double-ended priority queues that have been published, perform insert, removeMin and removeMax operations in O(logn) time each. So, the proposed IMI-heap is superior than the published heaps in terms of insertion time complexity.The abstract should concisely state what was done, how it was done, principal results, and their significance.

Total Correction of Double-Outlet Right Ventricle [DORV]: Report of 45 cases (양대동맥 우심실기시증의 전교정술 - 45예 보고 -)

  • Forty-five patients with double-outlet right ventricle[DORV] underwent complete intracardiac repair between July, 1983 and June, 1989. Patients with complete atrioventricular canal, atrioventricular discordance and uni-ventricular heart were excluded. The 32 male and 13 female patients ranged in age from 3 months to 15 years[mean 4 years]. Thirty-two patients had pulmonary stenosis. The early mortality was 11.ltd[5 /45] None of 27 died after a completely intraventricular repair. The mortality was 20%[1/5] for repair using transannular patch, 20% [1/5] for REV operation, 33.3%[1/3] for repair including extracardiac valved conduit, and 50% [1/2] for Jatene operation, respectively. Two modified Fontan procedures were performed without mortality. One died after Senning operation. Causes of early deaths included high residual right ventricular pressure[one patient] small left atrial and left ventricular volume[one patient], persisting severe pulmonary hypertension [one patient] and low cardiac output of unknown cause [two patients]. Complete heart block developed in one patient. Two late deaths occurred among the 40 operative survivors [5.0Po] from persisting severe pulmonary hypertension and bleeding at reoperation. Our results indicate that significant defects can be repaired with low mortality and morbidity.

  • This paper presents a new current balancing operation for LED using double-step-down dc-dc converter. The two output currents of the proposed converter can be balanced by charge balance condition although the two output resistances are different. In addition, voltage stresses of the switches of the proposed converter are lower than those of interleaved buck converter. To verify the operation of the proposed converter, simulation program is used.

  • In this paper was proposed a flux offset-type fault current limiter as means of reducing fault currents. To secure the operation reliability of a flux offset-type fault current limiter, constructed a simulation system to analyze its operation characteristics by generating a double line-to-line fault. According to the test results, the system performed stably without any impedance. However, when an accident occurred, the flux-offset of magnetic was not occurred. Because of this, any impedance occurred at circuit. It was confirmed that the impedance was low and fast to limit the fault current. At this time, the fault current limited rate was about 95%.

  • The XTR public key system has advantage of short key length and fast computing speed. So, the XTR is used usefully in complicated operation. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm of double exponentiation operation and a proxy signature protocol based on the XTR. The double exponentiation operation should be executed to apply XTR for the proxy signature protocol. But this algorithm is inappropriate, because two secret key has to be blown in existent operation algorithm. New algorithm enable double exponentiation operation with proxy signer's secret key and public information. And the XTR is used to generation and verification of proxy at proxy signature protocol. Therefore proxy signature based on the XTR has basic advantage of the XTR. These advantage can be used in internet as well as mobile.

  • In this paper, we have designed artificial double negative(DNG) transmission line composed of series inter-digital capacitor and two shunt inductive short stubs. This artificial DNG transmission line has the property of double positive (DPS) transmission line over some frequency ranges due to RF nature. In detail, this transmission line simultaneously has the contrary properties of DNG and DPS transmission line depending on operation frequency. DPS/DNG transmission line at leaky region is utilized to design frequency scanning antenna with backfire-to-endfire. We have simulated and measured the dispersion and for-field radiation beam patterns of symmetrical leaky wave antenna. The results show rough agreement.
