  • In this talk, some optical properties of quantum dot based mode-locked diode lasers and photonic crystal nano lasers will be discussed. Linewidth enhancement factor, chirp and interband injection locking technique of quantum dot mode-locked lasers will be presented. Also various types of photonic crystal buried heterostructure lasers toward coherent nano laser will be covered as well.

  • In the control system $ \dot{x} = f(t,x(t)) + g(t,x(t))\dot{u}, x(0) = \bar{x}, t \in [0,T], $ this paper shows that the map from u with $L^1(m)$-topology to $x_u$ with $L^1(\mu)$-topology is Lipschitz continuous where f is $C^1$, $\mu$ is the Stieltjes measure derived from the function g which is not smooth in the variable t and $x_u$ is the solution of the above system corresponding to u under the assumption that $\dot{u}$ is bounded.

  • Black dot root rot occurred severely in greenhouse tomatoes in jangseong area of Korea in April, 1996. The causal fungus of the disease was identified as Colletotrichum coccodes based on the morphological and cultural characteristics. Pathogenicity tests revealed that isolates of the fungus were responsible for the disease, and two cultivars of cherry tomato were less susceptible to the disease than other cultivars of tomato and cherry tomato tested.

  • This paper proposed correction tone density eq. and dot area eq. for perdict tone reproduction when dot gain is constant, and these are based on Yule & Nielson`s tone density equation. The experimental results show that proposed coreaction tone density eq. and dot area eq. are useful and valid for perdict tone reproduction of a half-tone image.

  • The LGP(Light Guide Panel) for the back light unit that is used to the 2.2" TFT LCD was designed and fabricated. The method of the pattern design which is the most important in the design of the LGP was converted the V-cutting method into the Dot method. This newly developed Dot method provided a good uniformity in the brightness at the LGP, which was a very difficult problem to solove in the V-cutting method. The experiment result of the newly designed LGP shows the brightness uniformity 90% and the brightness 3656 $cd/\;m^2$ which is 20% higher than the commercial products.

  • The electronic structures of a hybrid magnetic-electric quantum ring and two terminal conductance taking into account the resonant backscattering via both magnetic and electric edge channels are studied. The hybrid magnetic-electric quantum ring is formed by a magnetic quantum dot combined with an additional antidot electrostatic potential at the center of the dot. Electrons are both magnetically and electrically confined to the plane. The antidot potential repelling electrons from the center of the dot plays an important role in the energy spectra and magnetoconductance. The angular momentum transition in the ground state and the behavior of magnetoconductance due to a change of the antidot potential are shown in comparison with the conventional magnetic quantum dot.

  • Recently, the use of color data is growing fast in the area of image processing. To represent full resolution image on a limited output device, image has to be quantized an dithered. So, many dithering techniques are foundd in the printing. In this paper, we propose nonlinear quantization to consider the overlapping phenomena of neighboring printing dots and modified dot diffusion algorithm to compensate the color degradation produced in the quantization process. In the modified dot-diffusion quantization errors to be diffused are adjusted to improve both image blur and color change produced in the dot diffusion. The printed image obtained by the proposed color dithering method has higher visual quality an less color degradation than the images by conventional printing method.

  • Alpha track technology can provide useful isotopic information of boron in the primary coolant water. In the quantitative analysis using the alpha track analysis, the shape or area of sample on the solid track detector becomes very important, especially for the analysis of liquid samples. In this research, a multi-dot plate has been developed for this purpose. The multi-dot plate provides fixed standard shape of the sample solution that stays inside of the printed circle, and consequently increases the reproducibility of the boron analysis.
