  • HMC has developed the lean burn system with alpha 4-valve into domestic market in the end of 1997. In a viewpoint of saving energy and prevention of global warming (CO2 reduction), the lean burn system has recently attracted a considerable attentions in gasoline engines. There has been, however, difficulty in extending LML(Lean Misfire Limit) enough to meet the emission regulations and satisfaction of driveability. In this paper some descriptions will be given upon the new technology of lean bum engine which will be installed in Accent, especially the improvement of the combustion, the development of engine management system such as intake system and wide range air fuel control strategy, and the result of vehicle test.

  • This Paper presents an algorithm for improvement of convergence in Adaptive Filter. The proposed algorithm employes the time-varying Convergence Factor to Block LMS adaptation algorithm. Computer simulation for Adaptive Modeling of time-invarying and time-varying unknown systems has been performed. Performance comparisons between LMS, BLMS algorithms which have fixed Convergence factors obtained by trial and error and the proposed algorithm which has time-varying Convergence Factor show that the proposed algorithm is superior to LMS and BLMS algorithm with respect to speed and accuracy of adaptation.

  • For analyses of multi-phase flows in a water-cooled nuclear power plant, a three-dimensional SIMPLE-algorithm based hydrodynamic solver CUPID-S has been developed. As governing equations, it adopts a two-fluid three-field model for the two-phase flows. The three fields represent a continuous liquid, a dispersed droplets, and a vapour field. The governing equations are discretized by a finite volume method on an unstructured grid to handle the geometrical complexity of the nuclear reactors. The phasic momentum equations are coupled and solved with a sparse block Gauss-Seidel matrix solver to increase a numerical stability. The pressure correction equation derived by summing the phasic volume fraction equations is applied on the unstructured mesh in the context of a cell-centered co-located scheme. This paper presents the numerical method and the preliminary results of the calculations.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope electrostatic separation system for recycling of mixed waste plastics. The electrostatic separation system is designed and investigated the separation efficiency for separating of mixed waste plastics. Electrostatic separation system consisted of a tribocharger, separator (two electrode), collector (5 tray) and controller (positive/negative high voltage power supply). The tribocharger is a fluidized bed using tribo-electrification mechanism between particles and particles. In experimental results, the tribocharger of the fluidized bed was more effective separation efficiency. It showed the purity of $85{\sim}99\;%$ and the recovery of $80{\sim}98\;%$ from the powder of mixed plastics such as LDPE, HDPE, PP, PS, PET and PVC. Especially, In the separation experiment of Polyvinylchloride(PVC) which generates hazardous hydrogen chloride gas in case of the combustion. its purity was over 99 % and recovery was over 95 %.

  • Dynamic instability of the railway bridge can cause track irregularities and be directly connected with unstable passenger comfort and derailment of the train. Europe and Japan had studied on this problem for a long time since 1960's, Results of those studies are reflected in recent Eurocode and the bridge design code of Japanese railway bridges. However, even though some traffic safety requirements were applied in Kyoung-bu highspeed railway by French engineers, we experienced many difficulties from insufficient information of criteria background and application procedures. In this paper, a investigation of recent traffic safety requirements of Europe and Japan for railway bridges will be introduced and application procedures for the estimation of dynamic performance will be proposed.

  • DC system is still unexploited in public distribution systems. As the weight of cost efficiency and reliability requirements of distribution networks are expected to increase in the future, with the utilization of distributed generation, there will be demand for novel distribution techniques. The utilization of the Low Voltage DC (LVDC) distribution system opens new possibilities for network development. This paper presents analysis of steady state and transient state according to the number of pole in LVDC distribution system.

  • In case of connecting the weak AC system, a detailed attentions are needed. In particular, since HVDC system can control the flow of AC network freely, have to contain the range of stability and safe operation range. This paper deals with HVDC control algorithms, which are operated within 1 second on viewpoint of time domain, that is, transient stability. The target of HVDC introduced in this paper is Jindo-Cheju HVDC system, which will be operated at 2011. The introduced algorithm can be actually implemented to Jindo-Cheju HVDC system.

  • 인터넷의 급속한 확산과 통신 기술의 발전에도 불구하고 제한된 통신망의 자원을 최대한 이용하여 대용량의 멀티미디어 데이터를 서비스하고자 하는 계층적 서비스 기술들이 각광을 받고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 현재까지 이루어진 MPEG-4 미디어 데이터의 계층화 기법을 이용하여 분할된 스트리밍 데이터를 가변적인 네트웍 환경에 원활하게 서비스할 수 있는 TCP/UDP 기반의 스트리밍 서비스를 활용한 시스템의 구성을 제안한다.

  • 고분자 절연재료의 혼합사용을 통한 계면의 전기적 특성 및 온도 특성을 조사하기 위하여 XLPE층 과 EPDM 층을 각각 단일층 및 이중층으로 적층하였으며, 온도는 상온에서 100 [$^{\circ}C$]까지 변환시키면서 유전정접을 측정하였다. 또한 data는 LABview를 이용하여 GPIB통신으로 받아들인 값을 평균치를 구하여 컴퓨터에 저장하였다. 측정결과 온도에 무관하게 이층구조는 단일층 사이의 값을 나타내며, 온도증가에 따라 XLPE 단일층의 변화가 크게 나타났으며, 이중층은 EPDM의 변화에 크게 의존함을 확인할 수 있었다.
