국내 해운기업의 물류통합 전략에 대한 연구 (A Study on Logistics Integration Strategies of Korean Shipping Companies)

  • After the COVID-19 pandemic, a global economic downturn and a recession in the shipping market are expected, it is important for domestic shipping companies to establish appropriate strategy in response to the recession. Accordingly, domestic shipping companies should grow into integrated logistics companies that combine shipping and logistics in the future. And for this purpose, it is necessary to actively promote logistics integration with external shipping and logistics companies. This paper presents the direction of logistics integration for domestic shipping companies to develop as integrated logistics operators with competitiveness in the global shipping market, and presents detailed alternatives. Domestic shipping companies lack the infrastructure such as ships, port terminals, and warehouses, so they have a weak capacity to independently promote logistics integration. At the shipping company level, a logistics integration promotion strategy should be established, and accordingly, logistics infrastructure, service network, and logistics integration operating system should be established. The government should provide tax benefits for logistics integration, financial support for M&As led by domestic shipping companies, a standardized information sharing system, and preparation of educational courses for nurturing digital manpower.

국내외 여객수송수단의 동향과 변동률 분석 (Analysis of Trends and Rate of Change in Domestic and Foreign Passenger Traffic)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 주요 여객수단인 철도, 지하철, 국내해운, 국내항공, 국제해운, 국제항공의 동향과 변동률을 분석하는데 있다. 사용된 자료는 통계청 국가통계포털 "국내통계, 주제별통계, 교통.물류"에서 자료를 선택하였다. 분석 기간은 1999년부터 2020년까지 총 22년간이며 전년대비 연간 변동률을 산출하였다. 기술통계량에서 국제해운과 국제항공은 상대적으로 변동성이 크게 나타난 반면 철도와 지하철은 작게 나타났다. 상승률 분석에서 국제항공과 국제해운은 2019년도 539%와 368%에서 코로나로 인해 2020년에 85%와 20%로 크게 하락하였다. 국제항공과 국제해운은 2020년에 크게 하락하였으나 코로나의 충격이 사라지면서 다시 상승할 것으로 기대하면서 이에 대비하는 전략이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 국제 무역이 다시 증가하고 해외여행이 다시 활력을 찾아가면서 기존의 상승세가 계속 이어질 것으로 예상해 본다.

우리나라 주요 해운정책의 통상법적 합치성 분석 연구 (A Study on the Trade Law Conformity of Korean Shipping Policies)

  • This study conducted a conformity review of Korean shipping industry policy and suggested that the Korean five-year shipping reconstruction policy has not violated the WTO (World Trade Organization) trade law agreement yet. In order to investigate the latest Korean shipping policy, domestic and foreign reports were reviewed, and after that, the WTO's published data and domestic and foreign journals were analyzed. Through this process, this study tried to review the conformity of trade laws by major Korean shipping policies. The shipping industry is a representative service industry, and subsidies for this are not subject to WTO-level regulation in principle. The purpose of Korean shipping industry policy is to support the shipping industry, a type of service industry, and even if the ship-building and manufacturing industries (shipper) indirectly spread benefits in the process, this is unintentional or private-level support. That is, this study concluded that It is understood that Korea's five-year shipping reconstruction policy does not violate the WTO trade law agreement.

컨테이너 연안운송의 비용구조와 경제적 제약 분석 (Analysis on Costs Structure and Economic Limitation at Domestic Short Sea Shipping of Container)

  • 본 연구는 부산항과 인천항간 컨테이너 연안운송이 중단된 배경을 비용구조와 수입 배분의 특성, 시장에서 기업의 행동상 제약으로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 연안운송의 국내물류체계와 연관된 선박 운영비용의 구조를 고찰하고 비용함수를 추정하였다. 또한 연안선사내 운영수입의 배분비율을 살펴보았으며, 144TEU급과 215TEU 급 선박의 평균수입을 산정하였다. 경제적 제약 측면에서는 기업의 이윤 극대화 혹은 손실 최소화라는 목표를 전제로, 연안운송의 중단 원인을 찾으려 노력하였다. 연구 결과, 연안운송은 운영비용 측면에서 최대적재능력에 가까운 적재율을 실현하고 대형선박을 투입할 경우 규모의 경제를 실현할 수 있었다. 운영수입에서는 트럭운송시장의 영향, 복잡한 물류체계에 따른 낮은 평균수입으로 적자가 누적될 가능성이 있었다. 경제적으로는 평균수입이 평균비용보다 낮아, 연안선사가 서비스를 중단하였던 것으로 판단되었다. 따라서 전용선박에 의한 연안운송이 지속되려면 정부 등의 보조금 지원이 필요하다고 판단된다.

국내 어선 복원성 규정 분석 및 개선 기준안 연구 (Analysis of Domestic Fishing Vessel Stability Regulations and Research on their Criteria Amendment for Improvement)

  • 전 세계 해상 선박사고 건수는 감소하고 있지만, 국내 해상 사고 건수는 증가하고 있다. 이러한 이유에서 국내 선박의 해양 사고를 줄이기 위한 한 가지 방법으로 사고 건수가 가장 많은 어선과 낚시어선을 대상으로 하는 어선복원성기준에 관한 연구를 수행한다. 국제해사기구(IMO)와 국내 그리고 일본, 중국, 캐나다 해외 3개국의 어선복원성기준을 각각 조사하고, 상호 비교 분석한 결과외국의 기준들 대비 국내 기준이 가장 완화된 기준임을 알 수 있었다. 비교 분석 결과를 토대로 국내 어선복원성 기준을 보완하기 위한 어선복원성기준 개정(안)을 5가지 평가항목에 대해서 제안했다.

  • Recently, in the whole fields of industry including shipping business, the conception and importance of Human Factor is very highly and frequently emphasized. But the domestic crew disaster including injury and illness in our shipping business shows higher accident rate than other shipping countries. Therefore the developing of measurec to prevent/reduce the accident is highly required as the marine accident including crew disaster cause enormous loss of property and human life in size and scale. But, because the domestic data regarding the crew accident are relatively insufficient and rare, the developing of these measures has many difficulties. Therefore, this study is to make the concerning data for the useful reference by showing the trend and current situation of crew accidents, assorted by the crew's rank, type of the accident, injured part of the body, cause of the accident, type of ships and type of the works when the accident occurred, by using the each ocean-going shipping company's recent 5 years('95∼'99) data in korea.

How Shipping Company Satisfies Shippers Through Service Quality in South Korea: The Mediation Role of Trust

  • Purpose - This study aims to verify the direct causal relationship between cost competitiveness and global network competitiveness, which are the tangible service quality factors determined by the shipping company, which in turn affect the shipper's customer satisfaction. Additionally, we empirically investigate the intangible, related service qualities determined by shipping companies, such as operational competitiveness and customer relationship quality, and how these then positively affect customer satisfaction through the formation of trust. Therefore, we examine the mediating effect of trust formation among different contractors for shipping services. Design/methodology - In order to examine the shipping company's tangible and intangible service-qualities perceived by the shipper on customer satisfaction and the process of trust formation between contractors, we collected valid data from 114 respondents out of 200 distributed questionnaires. The respondents consisted of domestic freight forwarders who engage with domestic and international shipping and logistics agencies. Descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability, convergent and discriminant validities, common method bias, and PLS-SEM (partial least square-structural equation model) were analyzed using the program STATA 16. Findings - The findings of this study are as follows. First, our results showed that all hypotheses assumed in this study had statistically significant supporting evidence. Second, it was found that the mediating effect of trust was significant in affecting the quality of intangible service- qualities for customer satisfaction. Third, through supplementary analysis, we found that the global network competitiveness of domestic shipping companies will increase in importance in the future. In conclusion, the theoretical and practical implications of these findings are presented. Originality/value - This study reaffirmed the traditional causal relationship between customer satisfaction and tangible service quality. Additionally, we also contribute to the literature on the understanding of the causal relationship between trust formation and customer satisfaction through intangible interactions from a long-term perspective.

  • Currently, container transport services play a substantial role in global cargo transportation, by serving as an intermodal between exporter and importer. Container shipping has become increasingly important over the past few decades, due to obvious advantages. However, Vietnam's container market has shown severely ongoing competition among numerous domestic and foreign shipping lines, resulting in serious consequences occurring such as freight rates substantially decreasing within the last 10 years. Vietnam's sea lanes have become more defensive, to cover losses of shipping companies. Selection of criteria for competitive evaluation of container transport companies is necessary, to facilitate addressing the problems within the enterprise, especially relating to its position in the market and from here, business management can implement strategic plans and reasonable policy, to survive and grow.

In fact, Vietnam's sea lanes have become more defensive to cover the losses of shipping companies. Selection of criteria for competitive evaluation of container transport companies is necessary to help recognize the problems within the enterprise especially relating to its position in the market and from here, business management are able to put strategic plans in place and reasonable policy in order to be able to survive and grow.
